Six-Paths Obito was simply too strong.
What other story dares let the big bad toy with two protagonists at once—and still have the upper hand?
[Hashirama: "Naruto and Sasuke are syncing well!"]
[Tobirama: "It's not their 'sync.' Obito hasn't even gotten serious."]
[Itachi: "Don't look at me. I didn't teach him how to throw a fight…"]
[Deidara: "One Truth-Seeking Orb and those two are done, yeah?"]
[Hidan: "Right? His stats are cracked. How's he supposed to lose?"]
Obito streaked higher; Naruto and Sasuke gave chase.
Three blurs clashed—the sky shuddered.
Naruto gathered sage-boosted tailed-beast chakra;
Sasuke drew his bow to full.
"Sasuke!!"
"I'm with you!"
Twin strikes roared up.
Obito halt-spun midair—the Truth-Seeking Orbs slid into a shield, ringing like black bells as they ate the impact.
Another thunderclap rolled across the battlefield.
The new generation watched, mouths agape like they might swallow an egg.
[Sarada: "Didn't know Papa was this strong…"]
[Boruto: "Didn't know the doofus old man could be this cool…"]
[Rasa: "Starting to think Naruto and Sasuke were… switched at birth?"]
[Sasuke (adult): "… …"]
Sasuke's ears burned. He still remembered meeting his daughter for the first time… and almost skewering her by mistake. If that ever shows on the sky-screen, his parents will pulverize him—tag-team edition.
[Sasuke: "Why do I feel a terrible omen…"]
He sneezed on the road, then fixed his gaze back on the heavens.
Smoke peeled away.
Naruto and Sasuke stood left and right, staring up through the haze.
Obito stood atop a Truth-Seeking Orb—like a black moon—looking down like a god surveying mortals.
[Kagura: "Aren't Seventh Hokage and Sasuke-sama the strongest in the world?"]
[Boruto: "Yep. Co-No.1!!"]
[Sarada: "Really? Heh…"]
[Sasuke (adult): "Ahem… Sarada, about earlier—"]
[Mikoto: "Earlier what?"]
[Fugaku: "Why are you being so mysterious?"]
Sasuke glanced at the chat… and opted to live another day.
On the ground, the war split in two: the alliance hacking at the God Tree, while Naruto + Sasuke pinned Obito.
High above, Obito watched that seamless teamwork below—eyes briefly unreadable.
A sun-hot streak whipped toward him; he turned, the Orb-shield blooming to meet it.
When the smoke cleared, he was still immaculate.
"Damn it…" Naruto gritted, lunging again.
[Kakashi: "This is getting my blood pumping!"]
[Danzō: "Hmph. You're Six Paths now; the Sharingan's wasted on you. Hand it over to me."]
[Mei: "???"]
[Ōnoki: "He's hopeless."]
[Kabuto: "Focus. Obito's will is wavering."]
[Orochimaru: "You're seeing things, Kabuto."]
The alliance surged with a battle cry—
a living tide racing the roots.
Explosions stitched the firmament.
Naruto and Sasuke tangled with Obito as he simultaneously puppeted the God Tree to lash the troops.
A slip past Susanoo's blade; a drift from Naruto's golden grasp—
"His speed—too fast," Naruto hissed.
"But…"
Both turned at once.
"…we're finding his trail."
Through exchange after exchange, their rhythm caught that red afterimage.
"There!"
They snapped a pincer strike.
Obito dead-stopped, arms wide; the Orb-shield surfed into place and drank both attacks.
"…Bedtime," he said, voice flat. The pressure spiked.
"I'll send you to the dream world. We're out of time."
The Orbs threaded through their jutsu—
and Obito's hands closed like he was palming two chicks—one on Naruto, one on Sasuke.
Gasps rippled across the nations.
[Sarada: "No—what now?!"]
[Boruto: "Can Dad and Sensei really beat him…?"]
[Izuna: "As of now? Absolutely not."]
[Madara: "…Obito."]
[Izuna: "Easy, nii-san. You'll get your turn at Six Paths."]
[Madara: "…Fine."]
In Konoha's streetlight glow, Kakashi watched the sky, eyes heavy.
"Obito… I doubt you can bring yourself to truly kill Naruto. When one man sees everyone fight together—doesn't your will… shake?"
[Kurotsuchi: "This reeks of plot armor…"]
[Darui: "Be confident. It is plot armor. Obito's not going all out."]
[Gaara: "If he did, Naruto would be gone already."]
[Chōjūrō: "Six Paths stat line, after all."]
Obito yanked the pair downward.
A scarlet streak carved the air—then CRATERED them into the abyss.
The blast-wind blasted the alliance off their feet—again.
They stared into a bottomless wound torn from the earth.
So all this time…
he'd been holding back?
Even his "holding back" could end a battlefield.
Far below, Naruto and Sasuke staggered upright.
Obito looked between them, gaze snagging on Naruto's stubborn glare. Somewhere in that glare he hunted for an answer he'd lost.
"…Why do you stand up?" he asked quietly.
The frame froze on Obito's shadowed face—his resolve… flickering.
[Neji: "I can't find a flaw in this fight even with Byakugan…"]
[Tokuma Hyūga: "Weren't we calling Byakugan 'Konoha's strongest'?"]
[Hiashi: "… …"]
The chat erupted again.
(Yeah, Obito's death felt like plot armor. At full Six-Paths numbers he could steamroll—yet somehow loses?)
(Author's slammed today—late with two chapters. Four tomorrow!)
(If you're curious, check out the other book!)
— —
Deep in the abyss, Naruto's fists clenched. Sasuke's Sharingan spun. Overhead, the God Tree flower started to open—and Obito's palms began to glow with the sigil of Instant Refinement.
"Dream… with me," he whispered, hands closing in.
