Chapter 115 - Loen-style implicitness

After some time, Grizzly and Mole brought a carriage, allowing the hunters to transport the boxes of spices directly to the client's home.

As for the jewels, they were given to Mole to handle; he had his own channels for selling them.

Additionally, while waiting for the carriage, Maggie's body, like Stephen's last time, left behind a black-green tusk, but it didn't look like a mystical item; instead, it resembled an Prisoner materials.

This tusk was given to Nafi, as she was the one who delivered the final blow to Maggie, and Lex had already obtained the bone flute, which was suspected to be a mystical item.

One shouldn't be too greedy.

Nafi happily accepted the tusk and planned to make it into a beast-tooth necklace to wear around her neck, which seemed to be a tradition from her homeland.

Although he felt it was a waste, Lex did not stop her; everyone had the right to dispose of their spoils of war without interference from others.

Moreover, Lex was more concerned about those few contracts.

He found it strange how Maggie came to possess these contracts. Did she snatch them from someone else, or did that 'Heimerk' entrust them to her?

Unfortunately, these questions remained unanswered even after Lex returned to the inn.

However, tonight's hunt was quite fruitful; besides the increase in wealth and the acquisition of a mystical item, Lex felt that the residual potion had been digested more than last time when he dealt with Stephen.

Connecting this to Maggie's displayed abilities and methods, especially how she transformed her companion into a half-human, half-wolf form, Lex speculated that this woman might be a Sequence 7 Werewolf of the Prisoner pathway.

Thinking of this, Lex was genuinely grateful to the Watcher who provided the names of all pathways and all Sequences. Even if he could only see the names of the low Sequences due to his authority, this was already a valuable piece of knowledge.

In the morning, Lex enjoyed a hearty breakfast consisting of milk, bacon, sausage, fried eggs, mushrooms, toast, and caviar, which would provide ample energy for the morning.

"Sir, as you instructed, I visited Mr. Luke and received a reply. He will be expecting your visit at his home on the 20th, which is tomorrow afternoon."

As Lex enjoyed his breakfast, the nearby valet refilled his milk and reported on yesterday's work.

Lex put down his knife and fork, took two sips of milk, wiped his mouth with a napkin, and stood up: "Very good. Prepare; we will go to the Horse Riding Club shortly."

He hadn't been there for several days, and this morning, the Horse Riding Club had a Great Master giving a lecture. As a newly joined noble of the club, Lex could not be absent, no matter how he looked at it.

At exactly 9 AM, Lex arrived at the Horse Riding Club on Halls Street and listened to a Great Master sharing his experience in a spacious tiered classroom.

Just as Lex was about to doze off, the lesson finally ended, but he did not leave immediately; the post-lesson exchange was the real reason he came to the club.

In the club's main hall, Lex held a glass of wine, moving among the members. He had already attended several club events and was no longer a stranger there, so initiating conversations with other members would not seem impolite.

During this process, Lex met several businessmen, a councilor's son, and many elites from various industries.

As Lex, laden with gains, decided to end his morning social activities, he saw two more people enter the hall.

One of them was the middle-aged gentleman he had seen at Caspar Restaurant the night he met with the banker McGovern. His bulging waist was still prominent, and he was holding a gold-inlaid pipe, though without a cigarette in it. His graying beard was neatly trimmed today, giving him an imposing presence.

Next to this gentleman was a square-faced man with dark golden hair and azure eyes—it was Sir Deville, whom Lex had not yet visited.

Seeing the Sir, Lex did not immediately approach, as that would be impolite; this was the Loen style of subtlety.

I heard that the atmosphere in Intis is very open and direct, no wonder a certain Great Emperor lived such a comfortable life.

While Lex let his thoughts wander freely, Sir Deville and the obese club member had already turned and entered a room off to the side of the hall.

He adjusted his top hat, picked up his cane, and likewise smiled as he left the hall and the club.

On his way back, passing by a pet shop, Lex fulfilled his promise and found a companion for the parrot at the inn.

A female!

In the afternoon, Mr. Lex, who focused on health preservation, as usual, slipped out of the inn during his nap time without arousing suspicion from the servants and bodyguards, and arrived at the Elk Bar.

The hunter's hall was very quiet, with only one or two hunters whispering and discussing something.

Lex walked straight through the hall to the bar at the back and saw Mr. Parker, who seemed to never need rest.

"Good afternoon."

Lex greeted him proactively and said, "Last night, we recovered the batch of spices and delivered them to the employer."

The old man's eyelids drooped, and he casually picked up a wine glass to wipe: "I know; the employer settled the bounty this morning."

"Also, that father has found his son, so both bounties will be deposited into your personal account."

Lex said 'Oh': "Mr. Sandy found his son? How did he find him?"

"I'm not entirely sure of the specifics."

Mr. Parker glanced at him: "That gentleman said that the security company's employees suggested he go to church to pray, and then yesterday, a clergyman from the church visited him. After a long talk, last night, this gentleman found his child."

"Isn't that truly marvelous?"

"It is quite marvelous."

"By the way, my identification?"

Mr. Parker took an envelope from the bar's drawer: "Here it is, but the background information will take three days to complete."

Lex took the envelope, jumped off the chair, and prepared to leave.

The old man's lips curved slightly upwards, but before a smile could form, they returned to their original state: "Leaving already? Not inquiring about other commissions?"

"No, I want to give myself a break today."

He left the bar without looking back, then used the newly acquired identification to visit the 'Tingen City Housing Improvement Company' and rented a townhouse in the South District.

It only cost 15 soli per week, plus 5 pence for furniture usage.

Lex directly signed a one-year contract and paid six months' rent in advance; his generosity led the housing company to waive the furniture usage fee.

By the time these formalities were completed, it was already evening, so Lex had to abandon the idea of setting traps in the safe house and returned to the inn first.

In the evening, after dinner, he felt refreshed and full of spirituality. He tossed the newly-acquired parrot into the washroom, then summoned the 'mystical book' to appraise the bone flute he had obtained last night.

The ethereal tome fell into his hands, and the pages turned by themselves. When they stopped, Lex found that the dimensional crystal had surged, now reaching 650 pieces!

Record.

'Orange, after reading your biography in one breath, looks at you with new eyes and generously tipped you 10500 dimensional coin, which has been automatically converted into 105 dimensional crystal.'

'Merchant Haha smiled and said, 'Want to learn business from me?' and tipped you 6700 dimensional coin.'

'Keluen pointed at you and said, 'Keep up the good work,' and tipped you 3000 dimensional coin.'

'Little nurse Galaxy shook the syringe and smiled slightly at you, tipping you 1500 dimensional coin.'

Additionally, there were tips from Watcher like 'Ting' and 'Cloud Sheng'. Lex was overjoyed to see these records. He hadn't expected to receive so much support from Watcher in just a few days.

He composed himself, then communicated with the 'mystical book'.

'Appraising this item will cost 8 dimensional crystal. Do you wish to continue?'
