Chapter 156 - Common Sense in Occultism

Next, Miss Justice and Mr. Hanged Man discussed the Admiral, Qilangos.

A Watcher had mentioned the Four Kings and Seven Generals of the Sea, but Qilangos was not among them. It seems this general is not well-known on the Sea.

Lex listened quietly to the two members exchange information. After they paused, Lex stood up, placed a hand on his abdomen, and bowed slightly towards the head of the long table with a respectful posture.

"Mr. Fool, I have memorized four pages of Emperor Roselle's diary. How should I present them to you?"

"It's simple."

Fool's usual calm voice echoed from the thick fog at the head of the long table.

At the same time, a yellowish-brown parchment appeared before Lex's eyes.

"Recreate the symbols you memorized in your mind, and they will materialize on the paper."

So that's how it works.

Lex nodded lightly: "Please wait a moment."

He picked up the parchment and began to recall the content he had spent a morning memorizing. Sure enough, Chinese characters started to appear one by one on the yellowish-brown parchment.

Once the paper was filled with text, Lex looked towards the head of the long table: "It's done."

The parchment in his hand immediately vanished and reappeared within the dense fog.

A silence followed.

Lex knew that Fool was reading the Emperor's notes. During this time, the members of the Tarot Club remained silent, so as not to disturb the deity.

A moment later, a relaxed and easygoing voice came from the head of the long table: "Mr. Chariot, what do you wish to receive?"

Lex straightened his back and responded with a smile: "I don't have anything specific I want at the moment. May I leave this 'reward' with you for now, and make a request when I need it?"

The figure in the thick fog said without hesitation: "You may."

After a pause, the figure chuckled: "You may begin."

Lex first greeted the Hanged Man, who was two seats away from him: "Mr. Hanged Man, I have obtained the Pyromaniac's formula. However, I need some materials. If you can help me acquire them, I would be happy to pay you."

The Hanged Man nodded lightly: "What materials do you need?"

"One Lava Crystal Drill, 10 milligrams of nightshade juice, a crystallized heart of a Blazefire Bird, a pair of Deep Sea Spearfish eyeballs, and three Blazefire Bird tail feathers."

Lex looked at the other members: "Of course, if Miss Justice and Mr. Sun can provide these materials, I will also pay them."

"The Lava Crystal Drill and the Deep Sea Spearfish eyeballs, hmm, I can help you get those materials. I can give you a definite answer at the next gathering."

The Hanged Man said first.

Miss Justice responded cheerfully: "I can help inquire, but I can't guarantee any success."

Only The Sun remained silent.

Then, Miss Justice spoke again: "I need a complete pituitary gland of a Rainbow Lizard Dragon."

Soon, the topic of the gathering shifted to issues related to beyonder characteristics.

Miss Justice was worried that the Rainbow Lizard Dragon was nearing extinction, and the Spectator pathway would be interrupted.

However, the Hanged Man affirmed that even if this creature went extinct, there would be substitute materials.

Miss Justice couldn't help but ask in confusion: "How are you sure there will be substitute materials?"

"Because beyonder characteristics are indestructible."

Lex, who had been quietly listening to their discussion, blurted out the answer without thinking when Justice raised the question.

The Watcher had already told him that beyonder characteristics cannot be destroyed or diminished; they merely transfer from one carrier to another.

Therefore, even if the Rainbow Lizard Dragon goes extinct, its beyonder characteristics will transfer to another species.

Thus, the Spectator pathway would not be interrupted.

After speaking, Lex felt Miss Justice's curious gaze from across the long table. As for the Hanged Man, he seemed a little displeased, as if Lex had stolen his chance to show off.

"Mr. Chariot, could you please elaborate?" Miss Justice asked with anticipation.

The Hanged Man, perhaps to solidify his position at the gathering, chuckled: "It's nothing, it's just common knowledge. There have been many examples in the past showing that beyonder characteristics do not disappear."

"Taking the Rainbow Lizard Dragon as an example, even if this species becomes extinct, other species carrying the same characteristics will appear. Otherwise, let alone the Spectator pathway, other pathways would have probably been interrupted long ago."

Lex smiled faintly and said calmly: "Mr. Hanged Man is right, beyonder characteristics do not perish or diminish; they merely transfer from one carrier to another. This is common knowledge in mysticism."

"I see, thank you both for the explanation." Miss Justice said happily, "Mr. Hanged Man explained it in an easy-to-understand way, but Mr. Chariot's description was more precise, almost like a textbook explanation."

Of course, after all, this is knowledge imparted to me by the Watcher, it must have been systematically refined.

Lex turned his head to glance at the Hanged Man. Although he couldn't see his expression, judging from the other party's silence, he was clearly a bit displeased.

Lex cleared his throat: "I only learned it from books; I don't understand it as thoroughly as Mr. Hanged Man."

Upon hearing Lex's words, the atmosphere around the Hanged Man softened. After all, Lex still hoped to collect materials through him and didn't want him to develop any ill will.

Seeing that the members of the gathering seemed to have no new transactions, Lex raised his hand again and said: "I wonder if any of you could help me keep an eye out for the Sequence 8 Gladiator formula. Oh, by the way, in ancient times, it seemed to be called 'Gladiator'."

"Gladiator?"

The Sun, who had been silent, exclaimed softly: "Are you referring to the Sequence 8 of the Giant pathway?"

Lex already knew that the Silver City, where The Sun resided, had the Giant pathway, which is now the Warrior pathway, but he still said: "I'm not too sure."

At this moment, the figure at the head of the long table said in a relaxed tone: "The Giant pathway is the Warrior pathway."

Lex bowed his head slightly and said in a respectful tone: "Thank you for your guidance."

Having received confirmation from Fool, The Sun said: "If it's the 'Gladiator' formula, I should be able to get it."

Lex said joyfully: "Then, Mr. Sun, what do you wish to receive? If possible, I'd like to pay in pounds. I'm relatively lacking in beyonder characteristics, but I do have a fair amount of liquid funds."

He knew that The Sun certainly wouldn't need pounds, as he had gathered from the previous gathering that The Sun seemed to be in a relatively isolated place.

The Silver City was almost like it was in another dimension; the Loen Kingdom's pounds probably wouldn't be of much use to him.

So, the latter part of his statement was actually directed at Fool, because a Watcher had said that in the early stages, this deity's Dependents lacked operating funds.

Perhaps, when The Sun proposed a reward he couldn't pay, Fool would step in. He would pay The Sun, and Lex would provide operating funds to His Dependents, thereby completing the transaction.

The Sun paused slightly and said: "Me? As for me…"
