Chapter 164 - Backlund

Normally, such an attack wouldn't trouble Lex, but his body had only just begun to recover and was still very weak, like someone who had just recovered from a serious illness.

No matter what, he couldn't dodge it, let alone counterattack.

Lex didn't know why the Miss suddenly attacked him, but he quickly reacted and used his life-saving tactic: "Police, help!"

The scraggly-haired blonde Miss hadn't expected this guy to cry for help. He looked like he was covered in blood and should be a tough guy, yet he was shouting for help like a wimp.

She no longer cared about stabbing him with the triangular stiletto and instead reached out to cover Lex's mouth. She was so petite that to cover Lex, she had to get close and stand on her tiptoes.

Lex immediately felt a fresh, youthful scent waft over him. The small hand covering his mouth was warm and soft. Because they were so close, he could even feel the Miss's chest rising and falling.

Hmm, it was just too flat.

Compared to Miss Martha's formidable assets, even Helen had more to show. She was indeed a little Miss.

Wait, this isn't the time to be thinking about such things, is it?

"Don't make a sound. If you scream again, I'll stab you to death." The Miss fiercely shook the triangular stiletto in her hand to strengthen her 'persuasion' power, then fired a string of questions, "What's your name? Where are you from? What are you doing here?"

Lex wanted to answer, but with his mouth covered, he could only make muffled sounds.

The blonde Miss said impatiently, "Hurry up and answer my questions, ah."

She let out a small gasp, then lightning-fast withdrew her hand, glaring at Lex with a mix of shame and anger.

It turned out that Lex had gently bitten her palm just now. Lex also looked helpless, saying with a wry smile, "Miss, you're covering my mouth, how can I speak?"

The blonde Miss's face flushed. She darted back a few steps, pointing the triangular stiletto at Lex: "Answer my previous questions!"

"I'm lost." Lex spread his hands. He wasn't lying; he didn't know where he had been Teleported, so he was indeed no different from being lost.

The Miss suddenly spoke in an extremely authoritative tone: "Tell the truth!"

Lex unconsciously felt compelled to obey and said, "Alright, I'm a hunter. Tonight I was hunting a vicious fellow. Everything was going smoothly, but he had a trump card I didn't know about, and I almost got killed by him."

Huh, why am I so cooperative?

Wait.

This feeling, this authority... could this little girl also be an Arbiter?

Where am I? I just bump into a Beyonder on the street?

However, it seems because of the 'black night embrace', I didn't go into much detail.

Speaking of which, during this time, I haven't casually revealed my thoughts to others, nor have I completely closed myself off. Could it be that the negative effects of the 'secrecy keeper' and 'black night embrace' are canceling each other out?

Since he had started, Lex continued, "I have an item that can Teleport me to other places. I escaped with it. But this item has a flaw; it Teleports randomly, so now, I don't know where I am."

After a moment of thought, the blonde Miss suddenly and quickly asked, "What's your relationship with Qilangos!"

Lex answered without thinking, "I don't know him."

Then he realized that Qilangos was the great pirate discussed by Miss Justice and the others at the Tarot Club, wasn't he?

So he added, "But I've heard of him. He should be in Backlund now."

The blonde Miss narrowed her eyes, reversed the triangular stiletto, and put it away, passing by Lex.

"You believe me?"

Lex followed behind her and said, "Miss, while this is something to be happy about, it's not good for you to so easily believe a stranger."

The blonde Miss looked at him and said, "I believe you because if you really had a connection with Qilangos, you wouldn't casually expose his whereabouts."

"Also, didn't you want to know where you are now? Well, I can tell you, right now, you and Qilangos are in the same city."

A 'buzz' sounded in Lex's mind.

In the same city as Qilangos?

Is this Backlund?

I was Teleported here?

Looking ahead, the blonde Miss had already walked far away. Lex jogged a few steps and called out, "Miss, Miss. I've never been to Backlund. Could you show me the way? I have friends living here."

The blonde Miss stopped and extended her palm towards him.

Lex was stunned for a moment, then took the Miss's hand, saying somewhat awkwardly, "Although you're quite fierce, I didn't expect you to be so kind-hearted. But I'm not a child, you don't need to hold my hand, I won't get lost."

"Idiot!"

The blonde Miss pulled her hand back, habitually tugging at her scraggly hair: "I didn't extend my hand to hold yours. This gesture means I don't do things without reward, understand!"

Lex then understood: "Then what reward do you want?"

"pounds, of course." The blonde Miss extended her hand again, "10 pounds. If you can pay that price, I'll show you the way."

Lex paused, then pulled out a wad of banknotes from his pocket, counted 10 pounds, and placed them in the Miss's hand.

This time it was the Miss who was stunned. She had originally intended to casually name a high price so Lex would have no excuse to pester her. But she hadn't expected this guy to casually pull out a wad of banknotes and even count out 10 pounds for her.

Seeing that the Miss didn't react, Lex counted another 10 pounds and placed them in her hand: "Not enough? Shall I add another 10 pounds?"

"Don't insult my professional Path with money!" The blonde Miss fiercely tugged at her scraggly hair, then pushed the extra 10 pounds back to Lex, looking him up and down, and said, "Wait for me here."

She left for a moment, and when she returned, she had a set of gray-blue worker's clothes: "Change into these, otherwise, if you go out looking like that, you'll be immediately taken away by the police."

Lex nodded, took the clothes, and ducked into the alley. When he came out again, he looked like a worker.

"Take off that ridiculous mask on your face. No worker wears that thing on their face." The blonde Miss threw him a baseball cap.

Lex took off his mask, put on the hat, and pulled down the brim.

"Let's go."

The blonde Miss walked and asked, "Where are you going?"

"Hillesden, 12 Evergreen Street." Lex jogged to catch up, suddenly realizing that one of his hands uncontrollably reached out towards a certain part of the Miss in front.

Damn it!

He quickly suppressed the mischievous hand and put it in his pocket.

The Miss in front stopped and looked back at him: "What are you doing?"

Lex said guiltily, "Nothing."

She glanced at his hand in his pocket and sternly warned, "If you dare to do anything strange, you're dead!"
