Chapter 181 - Compensation

Inside the bar, a burly man nearly two meters tall slammed the bottle in his hand onto the floor and thumped his chest, "I'll do it!"

"Forget it, Tommy, you're just giving that little girl money," a short, drunken man next to him pulled on the brawny man.

The big man, called Tommy, pushed his hand away, "I don't believe it, a little girl can't beat me in an arm wrestle. In the Dock Area, I, Tommy, have never lost an arm wrestle."

He strode over and sat on a chair that was completely unsuited to his build.

His companion shook his head, "Yet, in the past two weeks, no man has been able to beat this little girl in an arm wrestle."

"Money first!"

The tall girl on the other side of the table held out her palm.

Tommy snorted, "Are you worried I'll go back on my word?"

The girl nodded honestly.

"Damn it, I'm actually being looked down on by a little girl!" Tommy shouted, "How much?"

The girl said with a smile, "1 soli."

The big man pulled a crumpled banknote from his pocket, slammed it onto the table, then grabbed the girl's hand and said, "Be careful, if I hurt you, I won't be responsible."

The short-haired girl first collected the money, then smiled and said, "You too."

A Bartender walked over to act as a referee, looked at the two, and shouted, "Start!"

Tommy immediately roared, putting all his strength into it, wanting to instantly defeat the little girl!

However, the girl's hand remained motionless, and she showed a gritting-teeth expression, looking as if she was struggling against Tommy.

It was her expression, which seemed to have more acting than genuine effort.

Tommy's face turned red, partly from overexertion and partly from feeling underestimated by the girl, but no matter how hard he tried, he couldn't push the girl's hand down.

After about 5 seconds of stalemate, the girl let out a shout and slammed Tommy's hand onto the table. With a crack, a section of the table was crushed, and Tommy fell to the ground, unable to get up for a long time.

"No more playing today!"

The short-haired girl jumped up, ran to the bar, pulled out the money from her pocket, slapped it on the bar, and spoke to the old man behind the bar who was carrying a tin-plate wine pot and wearing an old naval officer's uniform.

"Mr. Swain, this is for today's meal!"

The old man wiped his mouth, smiled, and placed a glass of beer on the bar, "Have a drink to quench your thirst."

But the girl shook her head, "I promised my boss I wouldn't drink."

"But that scoundrel abandoned you here for two weeks. I think he must have died in some dirty alley, right?" the old man said indifferently.

The girl suddenly stood up, "No! My boss will definitely come for me."

But her expression immediately fell, "But he hasn't appeared for two weeks, nothing really happened, did it?"

"Nafi."

The girl heard a familiar voice, she was startled and looked around, "Mr. Swain, did you hear that? I think I heard my boss calling me, could it be his spirit has returned…"

The old man in the naval officer's uniform snorted, "I haven't seen any undead, only a masked scoundrel, he's standing right behind you."

The girl immediately turned around.

Sure enough, behind her stood a man in a thin trench coat and a half-mask.

The girl's eyes first blurred, then cleared, and finally welled up with a hint of resentment, she shouted, "Boss, you're finally back! Didn't you say I would only stay one night, but I've been here for a full two weeks!"

Lex's mouth twitched slightly, and he coughed dryly, "Sorry, something unexpected happened at the time."

But I didn't expect you to be so obedient…

Although I did say at the time that you had to wait for me to find you before you could leave.

"Anyway, come with me now."

"Okay!"

Nafi jumped up, first rushed into a room, then brought out her sword and cloak. As she was about to leave, she turned around again and bowed to the old man behind the bar.

"Thank you for everything these past few days, Boss Swain."

The old man looked back with the gaze of a grandfather looking at his granddaughter, chuckling, "Come play whenever you're free."

Then he glared at Lex with a stern look, "If you abandon her somewhere again, be careful, I'll beat you!"

Lex, who was already a Pyromaniac, was, at this moment, overwhelmed by the old man's Aura.

Walking out of the bar, Lex handed Nafi a piece of paper, "This is for you, consider it compensation."

Nafi took it with a confused look, "What is it?"

She unfolded it and read the information on the paper under the light of a street lamp, "Gladiator Potion Recipe."

"This is a recipe!"

Lex quickly covered her mouth with his hand, "Don't be so loud."

Nafi nodded like a pecking chick, and after Lex let go, she happily whispered, "Boss, you really got the recipe, you're so great!"

Lex coughed twice, saying somewhat guiltily, "Otherwise, where do you think I've been lately?"

Nafi looked touched, "So you went to find the recipe for me, I'm sorry, Boss. I thought you had forgotten about me."

Let's not talk about this, ahem.

Lex pointed to the Evil Dragon Bar behind him, "You can find the materials for the recipe in the Evil Dragon Bar, they have an underground trading market in the back."

The girl, who had lived in the bar for two weeks, nodded vigorously, "I know, I've been there with Boss Swain."

"Good, that's good. You can also go to Mr. Parker, though our club's trading house doesn't have many materials."

"So, where do you live? I'll take you back."

Nafi said happily, "Really? Okay, I live in the West District, near the Tussock River, on the riverbank, there's a very, very big tree, I sleep under it every night."

You really sleep outdoors...

Also, promise me, don't talk about such tragic things with such a happy expression, okay?

"Nafi, a girl shouldn't always sleep outside." Lex felt an urge to cover his forehead, "How about this, you stay at my place. I…"

Before he finished speaking.

Nafi exclaimed, "How can that be!"

Her face flushed, and she looked away, saying, "Mom said you can't live with the opposite sex, because you'll get pregnant that way. She said I have to be an adult before I can do that."

Lex didn't know whether to laugh or cry, "Just living together won't make you pregnant, besides, I don't live there, it's just rented to cover up my tracks."

"Wait, you're not an adult yet, how old are you this year?"

"I'm already sixteen, in two more years, I'll be an adult! It's a pity, I probably won't be home then, no one will hold an coming-of-age ceremony for me."

Hisssss

Lex took a sharp breath, looking at the girl who was even taller than him.

Good heavens, only sixteen and already this tall, what will you be like after two more years?
