Chapter 188 - Hide and Seek

"Put me on?"

Kaven looked surprised. This was somewhat different from what he had imagined. The thing entanglement Isabella was actually a wedding dress?

This was truly too bizarre!

However, the Seer had, after all, spent time in the ancient organization of the Secret Order, so he wouldn't be easily scared.

He quickly regained his composure and mused, "Incidents like this don't happen without reason. I need you to recall, Miss Isabella."

"Before you sensed the existence of this thing, did you do anything out of the ordinary?"

"For example, did you go to a certain place, or accidentally take something back from somewhere?"

Isabella rubbed the outside of the cup, feeling the warmth from the hot water, as if it could dispel the cold and the fear.

"I'm very sure I didn't casually take anything that didn't belong to me from other places back home. My upbringing doesn't allow me to do that."

"As for anything out of the ordinary… Does hide-and-seek count?"

Kaven paused slightly, then asked, "Where did you play hide-and-seek?"

"A manor, a long-abandoned manor, not far from where we live."

Isabella gently bit her lip. It was clear she needed to gather a lot of courage to continue: "That was two nights before I felt the abnormality. That night, a banquet was held at our manor."

"Some peers suggested that everyone go explore that manor. We had all been drinking and were a bit excited, so we…"

Kaven nodded: "Can you tell me what you all did in that manor?"

Isabella thought for a moment, then shook her head in distress: "I can't remember. I only remember that after everyone found the manor, my friends suggested playing hide-and-seek there, but I can't recall the specific details at all…"

Could it be that she encountered something too terrifying, leading to selective amnesia? Kaven made his judgment, then nodded and said, "I understand, Miss Isabella. Can you give me a piece of jewelry or clothing you used that night?"

"Don't misunderstand, I just need these items for a simple divination."

Isabella nodded. She stood up and took out a diamond-studded bracelet from the jewelry box on her dressing table.

Kaven's breathing became slightly heavier.

This must be very expensive!

The Seer, who had just paid Lex three hundred pounds, directly felt his poverty.

Using meditation to calm his mind, the Seer steadily took the valuable bracelet, placed it in his palm, and then closed his eyes.

After a short while, Kaven opened his eyes and said somewhat awkwardly, "What is the name of the manor where you played hide-and-seek?"

Isabella showed a thoughtful expression: "I remember, it's called Kariena Manor. Yes, that's right. I heard that manor was named after the manor owner's daughter."

"Good."

The Seer closed his eyes again, rubbing the surface of the diamond bracelet, continuously muttering: "What did Isabella do in Kariena Manor…"

"What did Isabella do in Kariena Manor…"

After exactly seven repetitions, Kaven's eyes turned deep black, and he quickly entered a meditative state.

He replayed the question he had set in his mind, then allowed himself to fall into a deep sleep.

This was 'Dream Divination'!

Between semi-wakefulness and semi-stupor, Kaven first saw a blurry light and shadow, and heard the joyful laughter of men and women.

He seemed to be looking at the world through a curtain of water. He could only see the center of his vision; everything else was distorted, blurry shadows.

He saw a gloomy manor with a pitch-black chimney. One of its walls was covered in wild roses and climbing vines, and its windows were almost all broken, like black mouths.

The scene shattered and shifted. Kaven saw Isabella. She was holding a hurricane lamp, walking up a staircase covered in cobwebs and dust, and entering a corridor filled with various stains and torn carpets. She pushed open a room, and in that room, a woman sat before a dressing table with a shattered, dust-covered mirror.

Kaven narrowed his eyes, trying to see the woman clearly, but she was facing away from the door. She was wearing a pure white wedding dress, which was spotless, as if it was regularly cleaned and tidied.

But the woman's hair was disheveled and dry, like a pile of weeds.

She suddenly turned her head.

Her head rotated 180 degrees!

On her pale, bloodless face, her eyes showed no pupils, only whites.

Suddenly.

Blood gushed from her eyes, and she shrieked, "Put it on!"

Kaven felt as if he was pushed by a tremendous force. Not only did he immediately wake from the dream, but he was also thrown backward, hitting the wall.

The sound of the chair falling and him hitting the floor quickly led to footsteps outside the corridor, and then the broken door was pushed aside by Lex.

"What happened?"

Looking at the Seer, who was pale and getting up from the floor, Lex quickly asked.

Kaven grabbed a nearby table, propped himself up from the floor, and gasped, "I think I know what happened."

After bidding farewell to the banker, walking down the quiet streets of the Golden Banyan District, and feeling the warmth of the sun on his body, Kaven's complexion returned to a healthy rosy color.

"There's a Wraith in that Kariena Manor. Isabella saw it. Normally, people can't see spirits. In this situation, if there's no special connection, spirits would also ignore people."

"But Isabella saw it, and because of that, the thing also noticed her."

Lex mused, "But you said what Isabella saw by her bed just now was a wedding dress. If she saw Kaliena, the manor owner's daughter, there's no reason for her to only see a wedding dress."

Kaven shook his head: "I'm not clear about that, but what's certain is that Kaliena is approaching Isabella. If Isabella puts on the wedding dress, it's possible Kaliena will become her."

"So, only by dealing with the Wraith in the manor can Isabella be saved?"

Kaven nodded slightly: "Theoretically, yes."

"Then we'll go to Kariena Manor tonight." Lex immediately decided, "That thing seems to be very close to Isabella already. This matter cannot be delayed any longer."

That night.

Tonight the clouds were thick, the Red Moon was obscured, and the land was dark and without light.

This was especially true in the suburbs.

Lex carried a lantern, using his 'Devil May Cry' to cut away the overgrown weeds blocking their path, allowing them to move forward.

The Seer followed behind him, tightly gripping a tin pot filled with holy water. He had one more such pot in each of his side pockets.

Soon, Lex saw a road sign almost submerged in weeds, which read: Kariena Manor this way.
