Chapter 197 - Family

"This morning, she went out with Mr. Asered, saying she wouldn't be back for three days."

Lex stood up and looked at his sister: "Did something happen?"

Harribel's eyes changed for a moment, then she said: "Follow me."

They came to the teaching hut. Lex watched his sister close the door, then she lowered her voice and said to him: "My friends are in trouble."

"Who are your friends?"

"Amanchi, Denise, and Erica."

Lex knew that Amanchi was the son of the grain merchant Hal. Hal and Bison had been friends for many years. Amanchi was a year younger than his sister, a boy with no strong opinions who often followed Harribel's instructions.

Denise was Kaosi's youngest daughter, the same age as Harribel. They had known each other since childhood and were close friends who told each other everything.

As for Erica...

"Who is Erica?" Lex had no idea who this person was.

"She just moved here last month, yes, after you left."

Harribel quickly said: "They are neighbors with Mr. Kaosi. I met her through Denise. She is a child full of wonderful ideas."

Child?

Sister, you're not that old yourself, are you?

"What did they do?" Lex went straight to the heart of the matter.

Harribel heavily uttered two words from her mouth: "Ritual!"

"Erica's Family seems to be a branch of an ancient Family. They possess an ancient item. Yesterday, Erica took out that item and suggested holding a ritual to summon some interesting things."

"When I saw that item, I felt uncomfortable. I strictly demanded that they stop such foolish behavior. I warned them that rituals, especially occult rituals, should not be meddled with casually. This could bring about unforeseen dangers."

"Then I went home."

Lex then remembered that when his sister came home last night, her complexion was indeed not very good.

"What was that item?"

"A bone."

"A dark green bone."

Lex stroked his chin: "Just hearing about it makes me uncomfortable. Let me guess, your friends didn't heed the warning?"

"Yes, they are a bunch of idiots! Morons! I should have thrown that bone into the sea so they wouldn't have gone to the cemetery and performed a ritual!"

Harribel said somewhat agitatedly: "This afternoon I went to find Denise. She was hiding under her bed in her bedroom, terrified. She told me all these things."

"And the reason she was scared was because Erica had sought her out today, and Erica's state had frightened her."

"She described Erica as a dead person who had just crawled out of a grave. The scent she emitted was no longer her usual fragrance, but the smell of rotting flesh."

"Erica's eye sockets were sunken, her skin was pale, and even bluish veins appeared. She also threatened Denise, saying she would take her away forever tonight."

"Oh, Denise also said that Erica was holding that strange bone in her hand at the time, which made her look very wrong."

Lex nodded: "No wonder you wanted to find Mom, but she's not here, and I don't have a way to contact her. So, how about I go with you to take a look?"

Harribel frowned: "Are you sure you can handle it?"

"It wouldn't hurt to take a look. If it's too dangerous, we'll back out and seek help."

"Alright then."

Lex walked towards the wooden door: "Wait for me at the main entrance, I'm going to get some things."

He opened the door, as if he had thought of something, and turned back with a smile: "I thought you wouldn't tell me these things."

Harribel folded her arms and looked away: "Being angry with you is one thing; putting you in danger is another."

"If I didn't tell you and went to try and solve it myself, you would definitely follow. In that case, if there was any danger and you weren't prepared, something could easily happen."

"No matter what, I won't let my Family fall into a dangerous situation."

"However, I'm still angry with you!"

Lex chuckled: "I'll be right there."

He returned to his bedroom, opened the wardrobe, took out the black night embrace hanging inside, then took out a candle, lit it, and then took out a bottle of essential oil, as well as common herbal powder.

Following the ritual given by the Mystical Book previously, he completed the initial parts, then placed a copper penny next to the candle. Lex stepped back and said in ancient hermes:

"I!"

"I summon in my name;"

"The peculiar Spirit Realm entity that roams the Upper Realm, the Spirit Realm creature that loves money, Lex Disraeli's contracted partner!"

Whoosh!

A gust of wind swept through the bedroom, making the candlelight flicker and glow with a ghostly blue. Immediately, a phantom laugh, like that of a clown, rang out.

Ripples of Light quickly spread out. Suddenly, an unreal, starry tongue extended from the Light, swiftly snatching the copper penny from the table.

Subsequently, the spirit world treasure chest, painted with bright colors like red, white, and blue, leaped out from the Light and landed on the table. Its lid slightly opened and closed, and with the tongue hanging out, it looked just like a small dog.

"Please give me the evil bandage, the thief finger, and the 'Devil May Cry'."

As soon as Lex finished speaking, the spirit world treasure chest opened its lid. Looking inside the box, there was a Void like the cosmos.

At this moment, ripples appeared in the Void. The bandage woven with animal fur, the tin box containing the finger, and the greatsword with a pure white, sacred scabbard leaped out from within.

Lex reached out and caught them: "You can go back now."

Amidst a series of phantom laughs, this strange creature vanished from the table, and the candlelight immediately returned to its original color.

Because his sister mentioned the two elements of bones and the cemetery, Lex suspected that the bone might be an item from the death field.

He not only took out the 'Devil May Cry' but also used it to make several flasks of holy water beforehand, just in case.

After making the holy water, Lex took out a black drawing tube and put the greatsword inside to avoid being too conspicuous when going out.

He also wrapped the bandage around the sleeve of his shirt. This way, even if it wasn't used to transform into a werewolf, the bandage itself had the effect of interfering with divination and spiritual communication.

With the black night embrace on him, if a battle was needed tonight, he wouldn't have to worry about anything being detected afterward.

As for the thief finger, it was just in case. What if that bone was a magical item, or even a sealed artifact? Then it would be very necessary to steal it.

Finally, the magic ring and the ring of distortion, since they didn't have any negative effects related to carrying them, Lex didn't store them in the spirit world treasure chest.

The fully armed Lex arrived at the door and saw his impatient sister. He shrugged: "It took a little time to prepare. Also, I've already instructed Matthew. If we don't return by tomorrow morning, tell him to find Dad."

Harribel nodded: "Then let's go."

They arrived at the grain merchant Hal's house. Harribel didn't pull the doorbell, but gently knocked on the wooden door, three long and one short.

"Mr. Hal isn't home tonight. Only Amanchi is home. I've asked Denise to come over."

Listening to his sister's explanation, Lex could understand her actions. She was worried that going to Denise's house, if something happened, would attract the attention of Kaosi.

With a creak, the door opened, and a tall boy with freckles and brownish-yellow hair suddenly grabbed the blonde girl's hand: "Harribel, you're finally here. Denise is terrified. I'm also very scared. If you hadn't come, I would have wanted to go find Kaosi."

Just as Harribel was about to say something, she saw Lex walk over, a smile on his face: "Amanchi, if you don't take your claws off my sister's hand, prepare to say goodbye to them."
