Chapter 202 - Breakfast

It was already late at night when he returned home.

Lex struggled to climb in through the window, then let himself sit on the ground to rest. After recovering a little strength, he struggled to get up.

He first changed his clothes, then bandaged his wounds, and finally, lying on the bed, he fell into a deep sleep.

Physically and mentally exhausted, and wounded both inside and out, he slept in a daze until he felt the sunlight, then he reluctantly opened his eyes.

His eyelids felt as heavy as a thousand pounds, and it was a long while before he fully woke up.

After lying in bed for a while, Lex sat up and immediately noticed that someone had moved a chair to the bedside and was sleeping soundly, slumped over his bed.

Lex was stunned for a moment, then a smile spilled from the corner of his mouth.

He reached out and ruffled the golden hair: "Wake up."

Harribel pushed her older brother's hand away and mumbled indistinctly, "Don't bother me, let me sleep a little longer."

Suddenly.

She opened her eyes, jumped up as if electrocuted, first looked at Lex, then her eyes turned slightly red: "It's great, you're awake, I was really afraid..."

Her next words were swallowed back in time.

Lex chuckled, "What, were you afraid I wouldn't wake up?"

The golden-haired girl nodded almost imperceptibly, then said, "You wait, I'll go make you breakfast!"

"Breakfast?"

Lex shivered, "No need, I'll just have Matthew prepare breakfast."

"No!"

"I'll make you mushroom soup, it'll help you recover your strength quickly," Harribel completely ignored Lex's words. Her golden ponytail swished in the air as the girl, full of vigor, dashed straight to the kitchen.

"Perhaps I should just run away?" Remembering his sister's cooking, which was completely at odds with her beautiful appearance, Lex suddenly felt that the outside world was incredibly wonderful.

A moment later, a bowl of mushroom soup was placed in front of Lex. This thick soup, he didn't know what it was made with, was excessively viscous, and various kinds of mushrooms floated within it, looking somewhat appealing.

"Drink it."

Beside him, Harribel watched Lex with expectant eyes.

Lex almost wanted to take out a Seer coin to confirm if drinking this thick soup would threaten his health.

He picked up the bowl, carefully sniffed it first, and distinguished the fresh aroma of mushrooms and the scent of chicken from the smell.

It seemed quite normal.

Looking at his sister, Lex gritted his teeth, summoned the courage he had shown in his duel with Yarlin last night, scooped a spoonful of thick soup from the bowl, and, closing his eyes, put it into his mouth.

A moment later.

Lex opened his eyes and looked at Harribel in disbelief: "You cooked this soup, and it tastes surprisingly good."

When she heard the first part of the sentence, a smile appeared in the girl's eyes, but Lex's next words made her grit her teeth and say, "Lex, what do you mean by that!"

Fortunately.

After watching Lex drink the soup completely, not even leaving a single mushroom, the anger that had been hovering between the girl's eyebrows slowly dissipated.

Wiping his mouth, Lex, feeling much better, sat on the single sofa: "How is Erica?"

"She's fine."

Harribel recalled what happened last night as she spoke: "She woke up outside the church, initially very scared, but after Bishop Morgan talked to her, she calmed down."

"Moreover, she has no memory of yesterday's events, which I think is very good. Denise and I also agreed to never mention it."

The golden-haired girl spread her hands: "Of course, Erica's Family was terrified, after all, she had been missing for a day. The police even planned to search overnight, but fortunately, she returned safely."

"Oh, right."

"She also gave me the book of eternal life. She said this book brought too much trouble, and she didn't want to keep it at home. And her Family had long lost interest in this ancient book and that bone."

"Otherwise, she wouldn't have been able to just take it out of the house."

Lex said, "Oh," and continued, "Later, you can lend me that book of eternal life to read."

He wanted to know the true origins of the Terrence Family, to have such a troublesome 'ancestor'.

After his sister left, Lex closed the door and summoned the mystical book.

After the room's colors became vivid, he felt a heavy sensation in his hands, and looking up again, a thick, illusory tome had appeared between his hands.

Lex took out the drawing tube, removed the black-green bone from inside, and then spent 17 dimensional crystals to appraise it.

He fell into a trance, a sleepwalking-like sensation, with scenes flashing before his eyes. In these scenes, Lex saw a strangely dressed man, not in Loen attire, but in peculiar clothing adorned with feathers and gold, reflecting the style of the South Continent.

This man seemed very obsessed with corpses; in the fleeting scenes, Lex always saw elements like corpses and bones.

He also joined a mysterious and eerie organization, whose members danced wildly and strangely in graveyards at night.

In one of the scenes, Lex even saw a corpse with its chest opened, sitting up from a cold stone coffin.

The scene ended.

Lines of information appeared on the mystical book.

'This is an item that has gathered an incomplete beyonder characteristics of a Gatekeeper. This item will naturally attract spirits and Underworld creatures to approach it. Other than that, it has no other beyonder abilities.'

"Gatekeeper, I remember that's the Sequence 5 name for the Corpse Collector pathway. So it's an incomplete characteristic, which is why Yarlin appeared in a damaged, incomplete state."

Lex looked at the black-green humerus in his hand.

"It's not a magical item, but if the characteristics are extracted, it should be able to serve as a main Material for a potion. Although it's incomplete, this is a Sequence 5, so it should be very valuable!"

"Cough, I'm mainly preventing similar dangerous incidents from happening again, it's definitely not for the money."

Lex used the disassociation function. This was his first time using this function, and it cost him 21 dimensional crystals.

After deducting the corresponding crystals, Lex saw black-green smoke rising from the dense symbols on the bone in his hand.

They converged in one place, vaguely forming a man's face, then the smoke swirled inward, condensing into a small, black-green crystal skull.

Since he had already summoned the mystical book, Lex naturally wouldn't miss the opportunity to read the 'messages'. He turned to the message board page and read the Watcher's messages.

'Half a cup of tea: War isn't necessarily like World War I or II; it can also be a financial war!'

Indeed, the forms of war are diverse, but a so-called financial war, known as a war without smoke, requires a large amount of capital to be waged. If extended to financial wars between nations, it further requires hard military power as a guarantee.

Ultimately, no matter what kind of war, it cannot escape the two words 'strength'.
