Chapter 222 - Patience

He must have already gotten the manuscript, right…

Having just finished a conversation with several guests, the Intis Ambassador held a drink, maintaining a smile, but his mind was on something else.

That little Detective actually thought staying home would be safer than running away?

Now, Rosago should have come knocking. It's all his fault; if it weren't for him, my affairs would never have been known by Military Intelligence Section 9, and everything would have gone very smoothly.

It's all because of this little Detective. Now, I have to return to my country.

I really can't bear to leave this place. Although Bakerland's weather is a bit poor, the pollution is a bit heavy, and the Young Misses and ladies here are a bit conservative. But I like it here. It's all that Detective's fault!

Bakerland took a sip of the red wine in his glass with deep resentment. Just then, he felt a gaze and looked back to see a middle-aged man with slicked-back hair and a goatee.

As a seasoned Conspirer and intelligence chief, an eidetic memory was the most basic requirement, so Bakerland immediately recalled the other party's identity.

Green George, a spice merchant. Divorced, no children. Interested in young girls. Hmm, on this point, he and I have common ground.

Let me see, this guy also has some prostate issues, and his digestive System isn't good either. He's really a pitiful fellow.

Oh, and he's allergic to grapefruit, and he's also left-handed.

While recalling this information, Bakerland walked towards him. Mr. Green was stunned for a moment, then somewhat nervously puffed out his chest, his smile a bit unnatural, but his eyes lit up with joy.

Bakerland knew this joy all too well. These merchants, who had achieved a little success but weren't yet influential, always tried hard to curry favor with the powerful in order to climb the social ladder.

And he, Bakerland, happened to be one of their targets for flattery.

What a pathetic fellow, Bakerland thought to himself again.

"Good evening, Mr. Green." The Intis Ambassador smiled and raised his wine glass.

Mr. Green, somewhat nervously, first raised his left hand, then, remembering something, quickly switched to his right hand, placed it on his chest, and bowed slightly: "Good evening, esteemed Ambassador."

Bakerland nodded and said, "How are you enjoying yourself?"

Mr. Green quickly replied, "This ball is truly wonderful. I am very honored to have received your invitation, Ambassador, to attend this ball."

Bakerland chuckled and picked up a chicken cutlet from a passing waiter's tray: "Perhaps you can try this. It will give you more energy so you can handle those ladies and Young Misses later."

Mr. Green said with a troubled expression, "I'm very sorry, Ambassador. My digestive System isn't very good. My doctor, Don Kirk, can attest to this. He has advised me more than once to eat more vegetables and fruits and less meat."

"Is that so? Then you must pay attention to your health."

Bakerland said, and without any ceremony, put the chicken cutlet into his mouth.

At this moment, he noticed that Mr. Green unconsciously clamped his legs together and, from time to time, glanced towards the corner of the hall, seemingly looking for the restroom.

Bakerland smiled slightly in his heart, looked elsewhere, and then said to the spice merchant in front of him, "Excuse me, I saw a friend. Please make yourself at home."

"Very well, Ambassador."

After Bakerland walked away, he heard the gentleman asking a waiter.

"Excuse me, which way to the restroom?"

Walking towards the restroom, Lex breathed a slight sigh of relief. It seemed Bakerland did not suspect him. When the Ambassador suddenly walked over just now, he was indeed a bit nervous and considered whether to take this opportunity to use 'Plasma Jet' to kill the opponent.

But Lex quickly abandoned this reckless decision. He couldn't instantly cast 'Plasma Jet,' his trump card. Moreover, as soon as he entered the hall, he noticed there were quite a few Intis military officers here.

Those military officers gave him considerable pressure. Lex dared not even look directly at one or two of them, fearing they would see through his identity.

The intelligence provided by Osweld mentioned that there were many Intis military officers in Bakerland. They were approved by the Loen Kingdom to come to this city as Bakerland's overt protective force.

Among the dozen or so military officers, there was one Sequence 5, one Sequence 6, three Sequence 7, and various Sequence 8 and Sequence 9.

Therefore, even if he could kill Bakerland in the hall, getting away would be a big problem.

Furthermore, besides wanting to hunt the Ambassador, Lex also wanted to obtain the Ambassador's beyonder characteristics.

Because Bakerland was a Conspirer, if he obtained his characteristics, Lex would have a chance to get the potion formula for this Sequence!

Patience.

Follow the plan.

As he walked towards the restroom, Lex kept emphasizing to himself.

Arriving in the restroom, he saw that it was temporarily empty, so he moved to the window and looked outside.

Outside, there was an entrance to an underground waterway. Yesterday morning, he had entered the underground waterway through that entrance. Now Lex wanted to make sure his 'safe route' was clear enough, but when he looked, he found two guards patrolling near the underground waterway entrance.

He left without a sound.

When he came out of the restroom, Lex had already changed his face. At this time, he was not wearing formal attire but a white shirt and a black vest, which made him look no different from the waiters outside!

Lex turned and walked towards the kitchen first, and along with other waiters, as he took pastries from the kitchen to the hall, he discreetly placed something behind a wine barrel.

As he walked towards the hall, passing the emergency exit, Lex also placed some items behind the curtains.

Those were matchboxes.

To cope with the search tonight, Lex dared not carry too many magical items on him.

Besides the Thousand-Faced Traveler, he wore the black night embrace and had the evil bandage wrapped around his thigh.

Other items, like the magic ring, Lex threw into the spirit world treasure chest.

These three items, the former and the latter, could interfere with divination, while the one in the middle possessed the ability of secret.

Unless the Embassy demanded a strip search, he basically wouldn't be exposed.

Obviously, the Embassy could not do that.

As for the matchboxes, he had hidden them in the restroom yesterday. As a cleaner, it wasn't difficult to collect matches in the Embassy. And tonight, these matches would play an important role.

Returning to the hall, Lex moved among the guests, low-key but secretly keeping an eye on the Ambassador's movements.

He saw the Ambassador walk towards the balcony and then converse with a young lady in a dark red long dress. A moment later, they left the balcony together and began to dance.

Lex waited patiently. He had read Bakerland's profile and knew that he had a strong interest in seducing ladies and Young Misses into bed. From the current situation, it was very likely that Bakerland would go with that girl to a room for some private time later.

This was a good opportunity.

The only problem was that Bakerland would certainly have guards around him. How to get into the room undetected by the guards was the problem Lex had to consider.

In a flash.

The Ambassador and the girl in the red dress had already danced two dances. As expected, the two left the hall and walked upstairs.
