Chapter 352 - Before Dawn

Walking in the cabin.

"Rayleigh, I have to say, you did a great job just now."

"I haven't seen Jodeson, that piece of shit, speechless in a long time."

Danitz was in a great mood, saying excitedly, "You must know, he didn't dare to fight you because the stakes were too high."

"If you lose, you can just pack up and leave the ship. If he loses, all his hard work on the ship these years will be for nothing."

Lex, carrying his suitcase, said calmly, "I won't lose. The only one who will lose is Jodeson. It's a pity, I thought I could use this opportunity to kick out a competitor."

Danitz was stunned. He looked at Lex.

Is this guy serious? He never thought he would lose, he even wanted to take the opportunity to kick out a competitor?

He's really aiming for the Captain's position!

No, Danitz, you must protect the Captain!

"Don't underestimate Jodeson. His strength isn't that great, but it's very strange. I fought him once, and during the battle, I suddenly couldn't use fireballs, but he could imitate my flame ability."

Annoyed by Lex's confident look, Danitz decided to pour a Barrel of cold water on him.

Lex pondered for a moment, then smiled and said, "No big problem."

"Shit, you're so arrogant!" Danitz didn't achieve his goal, ran his hand through his hair, and impatiently led the way.

Lex didn't retort. He wasn't arrogant, but confident.

Jodeson and he were meeting for the first time. Lex was sure that the Third Mate wasn't familiar enough with him, whether it was his fighting style, his beyonder abilities, or information about the magical items he possessed.

If Jodeson had agreed just now, Lex could have easily ended the battle by using the 'Midnight Dream'.

But if they spent more time together, and Jodeson knew what he had, it wouldn't be so easy to defeat this Third Mate.

"This is your room."

Danitz opened a room. Lex glanced inside. The room wasn't big, but it was very clean and had a window. Overall, it was similar to a second-class cabin on the Green Emerald.

"You rest for a bit, then I'll take you to the restaurant." Danitz walked to an adjacent door. "I live next door to you. If you need anything, just knock on the wall."

Lex nodded, saying nothing, and walked into his room with his suitcase.

He took out his daily necessities from the suitcase and placed them on the table. Looking around, as expected, he didn't see a washroom.

"It seems the bathroom and such are communal. Hmm, the Captain's Cabin should have its own, that's the Captain's privilege."

Lex sat down on the edge of the bed, watching the sunset disappear below the Sea horizon, and said in a voice only he could hear, "Finally boarded the 'Golden Dream'."

Night fell.

Lex was led by Danitz to the ship's restaurant, where a long table was set up with a row of food for the pirates to help themselves.

The atmosphere in the restaurant was lively. Pirates took food and drinks, then found seats, enjoying their meals and loudly bragging.

There were also pirates playing lutes in the corner, giving Lex the illusion of being at a ball.

Looking at the food, there were cream bagels, pork sausages, and various dried fish. In addition, there was yogurt made by who knows who, with honey and strawberry jams.

The food was quite abundant. Wait, what did I see? Is that lobster?

There was also cold salmon, salted brisket, roast beef, salad... This food is much better than on the Wavebreaker. I almost want to stay and not leave.

Lex piled a plate full of food for himself and followed Danitz to a wooden table in a corner, where several pirates were already seated.

One had a bloated waist and a slightly high-pitched voice.

One had dark, Iron Sheet-like skin and a thick beard.

The others all had dark complexions, clearly people who had lived on the Sea for many years.

"This is Barrel, this is Iron Skin, they are both my good brothers."

Danitz sat down and introduced them to Lex, then looked at the pirate with the bloated waist: "Did you guys encounter Blood Admiral yesterday?"

The pirate known as 'Barrel' said in a slightly high-pitched voice, "If we had, you'd probably be visiting me in the infirmary. If I were even unluckier, I'd be fish food by now."

The dark-skinned, Bearded Man 'Iron Skin' said, "We deliberately circled the nearby waters yesterday. The Captain wanted to lure Blood Admiral out, but it wasn't successful."

"As I see it, Blood Admiral's plan failed, and he's already gone."

Cutting a piece of roast beef with black pepper sauce and putting it into his mouth, Lex chewed and said, "It's best not to be too careless. That setback is nothing to a Admiral."

Danitz looked at him and said, "Do you think Senor will attack us again?"

Lex put another piece of beef into his mouth: "That depends on how much interest he has in the Captain, or rather, the 'thing' the Captain possesses."

After enjoying this rather hearty dinner, Lex walked out of the restaurant with satisfaction, intending to get some fresh air on the deck and consider how to improve his status on the ship.

Just then, he heard Jodeson's voice: "Hey, newcomer, wash down the deck."

Lex turned around and pointed at his own nose: "Are you calling me?"

Jodeson adjusted his floral cravat and smiled, "Besides you, did any new people join today?"

"You wouldn't want to defy my orders, would you?"

Lex smiled and walked over. He was immediately stopped by Jodeson's companions.

Lex didn't continue forward, he just lowered his voice and said to 'Floral Cravat', "I know what you're thinking. You want to drive me away, you're worried I'll threaten you."

"No problem, but as I said before, you fight me. As long as I lose, I'll leave immediately."

Jodeson's smile remained unchanged: "Did you forget, the Captain said no private duels on the ship."

"I didn't forget. On the way here this afternoon, I saw an uninhabited small island nearby. We can't fight on the ship, so let's fight off the ship, settle it like men, what do you think?"

Lex's smile vanished, and he added, "If you don't have the guts, then shut your mouth and don't provoke me, esteemed Third Mate!"

With that, he adjusted his hat and turned to leave.

Jodeson's smile froze, then he said expressionlessly, "Come on, let's eat."

That night, Lex witnessed the casual life of pirates. They drank and bragged on the deck until early morning, then returned to their rooms to sleep.

One night passed just like that.

Around five in the morning, the eastern sky showed a faint light, signaling the approaching dawn.

At this time, a stretch of white energy drifted over the Sea. The morning fog was thick, and it would only completely dissipate when the sun came out.

The few pirates on night watch on the deck now couldn't keep their eyes open, leaning against the mast and sleeping soundly.

So they didn't notice that in the thick fog, some unusual traces appeared. Then, from beneath the ship, heads emerged one by one.
