Inside the room, Lex unstrapped 'Devil May Cry' and placed it on the table, then lay down on the bed to relax.
If he could, he actually didn't want to hunt Marco; he preferred to appear more 'low-key', letting the people on the ship get to know him in a gentler way. However, the situation this morning was critical; once the Golden Dream ran out of Purification Cannon uses, Senor would definitely board and attack.
Lex still remembered that the Watcher had said there was likely a demigod by the Blood Admiral's side. At that point, things would probably develop in the worst possible direction.
Of course, 'Devil May Cry' could use the abilities of a Sun pathway demigod, and Lex still retained two authorizations to summon 'Projection of Authority'. These were his trump cards.
With these few trump cards, even in the worst-case scenario, Lex was confident he could protect himself.
It was just that, in such a case, the Golden Dream would probably become a thing of the past today, and his mission would also be affected.
Therefore, after much consideration, Lex instigated Danitz to step forward and take on the task of dealing with the 'Big Eater'.
Even so, he didn't dare to immediately unleash a 'Solar Flare' on Marco upon meeting him. While that would quickly end the battle, a 'Zombie' certainly couldn't withstand a Sequence 4 divine spell.
However, 'Solar Flare' was an area-of-effect attack, and its display would only be grander and more magnificent than 'Holy Light Pillar'. Lex was unwilling to expose too many trump cards, so when he boarded the 'Big Eater', he used the Great Fireball to divide the battlefield.
He used the rising thick smoke to obstruct vision, then used a lower-tier ability to target Marco, thereby completing the hunt.
It was also fortunate that the Golden Dream was in the process of breaking through at the time; otherwise, given time, Iceberg Admiral would surely have discerned something from the residual Sun power on the 'Big Eater'.
Now, she should still be suspicious, but without substantial evidence, she wouldn't be clear about his trump cards.
Just then, there was a knock on the door. Lex raised his head and listened carefully; the knocking sounded again, not quite real, with a faint sense of illusion.
The messenger is here?
Speaking of which, this messenger always passes through the door; it must be from the 'Apprentice' pathway, right?
Lex was worried that Danitz next door might notice something, so he quickly whispered, "Come in."
The headless messenger indeed walked out of the door, came to the bedside, placed a hand on its chest, and bowed slightly to Lex.
Then it took out a letter from its bosom, placed it on the table, not forgetting to smooth over the envelope to ensure there were no creases, before stepping back two paces.
Lex tore open the envelope, took out the letter inside, and unfolded it to read.
'Duke, after deducting your contribution points, I had people track down the whereabouts of the other two. Now, one of them, Jane Britney, has been located.'
'Our investigation shows that not long after this lady returned to Intis, she married a merchant. Later, the whole family moved to Loen Kingdom to settle down and raised a boy.'
'Of course, this lady is no longer alive, and even her son passed away long ago. However, her grandson and great-grandson are still alive.'
'They currently live in Tingen City, Loen. This lady's grandson, Mr. Hardy. Brooke, was once a librarian. He met his wife, also a librarian, and they had a son and a daughter. The eldest son, Rowley, has already started a family, and the daughter, Meredith, is a nurse at a hospital.'
'Mr. Hardy's wife passed away two years ago. Currently, this gentleman lives alone in the North District of Tingen, at 49 Fania Street.'
'As for the other gentleman, Celis Newman, I will inform you immediately when I have news. I regret to inform you that the contribution points you accumulated from the previous two investigations have been entirely spent on this matter.'
'If you still need help from me in the future, please continue your investigations.'
After reading the letter, Lex first dismissed the messenger, then began to sort out his thoughts.
Jane Britney, Mania's personal maid on the 'black star', married a merchant after returning to her country and settled in Loen Kingdom.
Now her descendants live in Tingen City, and they seem to be living quite well, but from the information Osweld provided, this lady does not seem to have adopted Mania's child.
Could it be that Mania's child was eventually taken away by Celis Newman?
Lex lightly tapped the table with his fingers, then muttered to himself, "No, I need to find an opportunity to go to Tingen, to Fania Street, and see. I need to talk to that lady's descendants to confirm."
"And, I can take this opportunity to meet Melissa. The pressure bottle I commissioned her to design should be finished; it's not too complex a machine."
"I can also go say hello to Kyle and see how that project at Tingen University is progressing. Additionally, I need to meet Kaven and Nafi. I already have the next formula for 'Gladiator', so Nafi can collect the materials herself and advance, if she has digested the potion."
"I also have the 'Magician' formula; I hope Kaven can offer a 'price' that satisfies me."
"I can use 'Traveler's Wind Object' to travel between the two places within three days; this is not difficult. The problem is, I must wait for a suitable opportunity and not attract the attention of Iceberg Admiral."
After deciding what he wanted to do next, Lex burned the letter and went to sleep.
In the evening, the deck of the Golden Dream was very lively. Lex walked out of the cabin and saw the pirates had set up two long wooden tables on the deck. Then, dish after dish of food was brought out from the kitchen and placed on the tables.
Barrel, who was plump at the waist, and Iron Skin, with his dark iron-colored skin, two pirates, brought several barrels of beer and placed them on the tables for their companions to help themselves.
Additionally, some pirates pulled out zithers and played melodicas and flutes, filling the deck with cheerful notes, like a festive celebration.
When the Captain's Cabin opened, everyone's eyes turned towards that room. Edwina walked out of the room and announced the start of the banquet.
A cheer erupted on the deck. The pirates playing music played even more vigorously, while others surged towards the two long tables, enjoying the beer and food.
Lex was no exception. He followed Danitz to the table, piled his plate high with food, grabbed a mug of beer, and then chose a quiet corner to slowly enjoy his meal.
He had only finished half his food when Danitz ran over: "Come on, the Captain wants us to gather in the Captain's Cabin. You can bring your food and drink; don't be shy."
Lex nodded, added some more food to his plate, and then followed Danitz to the Captain's Cabin.
In the spacious Captain's Cabin, tables and matching chairs were arranged.
Iceberg Admiral sat at the central table and chairs, with food and wine laid out on the table.
Danitz pointed to two tables and chairs on the left, near the door, and said, "Those are our seats."
Lex sat down with his food and looked around. The 'high-ranking' members of the Golden Dream were all present. It felt like preparing for a class in a classroom in his previous life.
If it weren't for the food and wine on the table...
"Let's eat and talk," Edwina said in a calm voice. She took a sip from her wine glass, then looked around and said, "Senor is likely after the death's treasure. He knows we've already gathered quite a few clues and are just one step away from discovering that Treasure Trove."
