Chapter 405 - The Mysterious Ancient Organization

After reading a few pages of "spiritual world anecdotes," Lex used meditation to calm the frenzy and Confusion in his heart. During this process, he found that the barrier between him and the potion had disappeared a lot, and the potion had noticeably digested again.

At this rate, he would soon be able to fully digest the remaining 'Pyromaniac' potion.

Hmm, this should be thanks to the fire on Yedgar Island, but it's strange. The scale of that fire was much smaller than the one he set in the East Borough of Backlund when he tried to assassinate the Intis Ambassador.

Yet the digestion progress of the potion was much greater than that time.

Why is this?

Lex rubbed his temples in thought, then suddenly a flash of inspiration struck him, and he realized, "Could it be related to the severity of the disaster?"

"In Backlund, the fire I set, although not small in scale, did not cause much loss to the surrounding residents because I had taken fire prevention measures."

"As for Yedgar Island, although the fire caused limited damage to the buildings themselves, the consequences for Yedgar and the Rose School of Thought were very severe."

"I disrupted their sacrifice, I brought them a serious 'disaster', and because Sequence 7 Beyonder and demigods were involved, their 'feedback' was more intense, causing the potion to digest faster!"

If that's the case, another similar 'performance' should allow the potion to be completely digested.

"I still need the blood of a Human-faced Lion. I'll go ask the Captain later; maybe she knows where to get this auxiliary materials."

Lex thought of another thing, took out his pocket watch, opened the cover, and looked at Christie's photo inside: "Do you know enough about that demon?"

In the photo, the beautiful lady, who looked to be under thirty, nodded slightly, but the image was like a slideshow, not smooth enough.

Hmm, Christie seemed to have gotten younger and more pleasing to the eye. Lex reined in his thoughts, considering how to communicate with Christie.

The simplest way, of course, was to let her steal his spirit body and communicate in the painting world by temporarily confining it.

But that was too much trouble, and if the spirit body left the Physical Body and something happened in between, the trouble would be huge.

Suddenly, Lex thought of a way to communicate with Christie. He found a piece of paper, then wrote the common Loen Kingdom characters on it with a pen, and arranged these characters into a simple triangular pattern.

"This can barely be called a painting," Lex said without much confidence, then opened his pocket watch and said to Christie, "Can you parasitize this?"

Christie's figure immediately protruded from the photo, lightly leaped, and landed on Lex's painting made of characters.

The characters on it danced around, rearranged, and in an instant, they formed Christie's bust.

"I want to know about that demon. What's his name, what's his origin, and what are his plans in Tingen City?"

Lex looked at the character portrait on the table: "You can try to use the words on it to form sentences."

This utilized Christie's mutated parasitic ability; she could become the subject of any painting, and naturally, she could change the content of the painting.

On the paper, some characters detached from Christie's 'body' and formed a sentence in the blank space: His name is Kasa. Gold. He serves a mysterious organization to obtain a large amount of common knowledge about Beyonder, understands the Sequence names and characteristics of all mid-to-low Sequence, and is an unconventional mystic.

The characters continued to change, forming new sentences: He knows a lot of secret, has participated in many Beyonder gatherings, has many sources of intelligence, he sells intelligence, and he likes to hunt Beyonder.

The character portrait on the paper spread its hands, and new sentences appeared above Christie's head: His wealth comes from plunder. This demon likes to hunt participants after Beyonder gatherings, taking their materials, magical items, etc.

That glove of his came from this.

He came to Tingen to accept a mission from that mysterious organization. The organization required him to lie low in Tingen and assassinate two Upper House members who would be arriving from Backlund this month and next month.

Assassinate Upper House members?

Lex couldn't help but be stunned. What kind of organization would assassinate Upper House members? What benefit would that bring them?

Create unrest? Cause Confusion? Or for certain political needs?

"What kind of organization is that?"

After Lex posed this question, he saw the characters on the bust combine again.

'According to this demon's recollection, as far as he knows, this is the most secretive and oldest organization. Most Beyonder do not know of its existence. Its members are said to come from prominent figures in various fields, and even some high-ranking officials in various churches and national militaries are among them.'

This... this is outrageous!

It sounds a bit like the 'Freemasons,' with members being bigwigs from various fields, so is this the mysterious version of the Freemasons?

Lex saw the characters on the paper continue to change and stack, revealing new content, so he continued to read.

'The organization's main purpose is said to be to awaken the true Creator. They interfere with the progress of history, making it conform to their needs, so as to achieve their goal at a certain point.'

'If the tide of the times does not go as they expect, they will try their best to reverse this trend. Other than that, they often just quietly observe, perhaps not taking action or giving a commission for decades or even centuries.'

Creator?

It doesn't seem to be the Aurora Order's 'Fallen Creator.'

These secretive organizations are really all full of themselves. Can't they just live their lives properly? They just have to make this and that evil god descend into reality to be happy. No wonder the Seven Gods' churches hunt them down.

Only when these lunatics are all dead can everyone have peaceful days.

Lex looked at the paper again and saw Christie seemed to frown, then organized new sentences: It's strange, Master. This demon believes that the name of that organization should not be written down, nor even spoken aloud.

If it is leaked in writing or verbally, the other party will sense it and will know.

"All words are known?"

Lex gasped. If that were the case, the status of this organization would be too high. It cannot be spoken of, it cannot be mentioned, otherwise, it will be sensed, it will be known.

In other words, if Christie tells me the name of that organization today, maybe Lex won't exist tomorrow?

Lex nodded: "I understand. Let's leave it at that for now. You continue to 'understand' that demon. I want to know what kind of secret he has mastered and what kind of information channels he possesses."

Christie lifted her skirt on the drawing paper, then let some characters fly and stack, forming a short sentence: As you wish!
