Boom!
A crimson burst, and the mummified corpse was blasted backward, falling to the ground. But moments later, it shakily got back up, stubbornly persisting in moving towards the living with clumsy movements.
"Shit!" Danitz couldn't help but curse. He had intended to blow up the mummy with a fireball, but he didn't expect it to only blast a hole in its chest, not kill it outright.
Lex drew his 'Devil May Cry' and uttered a word in ancient hermes: "Sacred!"
He used Holy Oath, adding sacred-type damage to his attacks, then leaped into the shallow pit, confronting the mummified corpses.
Dodging an axe from one of the mummies, he backhanded his blade across its waist, tearing its flesh. Then, from that wound, a clear golden flame silently rose, instantly engulfing the mummy and making it sway unsteadily as it burned.
The others also used their abilities and demon-hunting bullets to deal with these mummies.
Lex, wielding his 'Devil May Cry', moved among the mummies. The blade of his katana continuously flashed with a dark gold light, and as Lex danced with the katana, he chopped, slashed, or thrust, leaving wound after wound on these mummies.
Subsequently, these wounds would erupt with clear golden flames, purifying the corpses.
The battle didn't last long. Under the combined assault of the 'Devil May Cry', demon-hunting bullets, and various abilities, the mummies that had been lingering by the ship either turned into golden torches or lay dead on the ground.
But before everyone could breathe a sigh of relief, more mummies shakily emerged from the ship's broken hull. It seemed there were quite a few similar things inside the Nether Lord.
Danitz covered his face and said, "This is going to be endless."
Lex raised his arm, holding his 'Devil May Cry' horizontally, and said to the people behind him, "Don't come over. I'll handle this."
He suddenly released an aura that made non-human creatures feel disgusted. Danitz was no stranger to this aura; it was Provocation!
Provoked by Lex, the mummies on the ground got up and lunged at him. The crack in the ship's hull was like a faucet turned to full blast, suddenly spewing out a greyish-white, turbid stream.
The mummies inside the cabin were also affected by the Provocation. They no longer emerged one by one but surged out in groups. Perhaps they squeezed too hard, or perhaps the ship's hull was old and dilapidated.
Suddenly, a series of 'crunching' sounds rang out, cracks spread all around the opening, and in an instant, large sections of the hull burst and collapsed. The mummies inside, like a cluster of greyish-white maggots, involuntarily rolled out of the ship and fell into the crater.
Then they got up and frantically rushed at Lex.
In an instant, the mummies charging at Lex were densely packed, no less than eighty or a hundred.
Lex showed no panic. He simply shook his 'Devil May Cry', and immediately, clear golden flames appeared out of thin air within the corpse horde. Clusters of flames spread densely, enveloping the mummies that had gathered due to Provocation.
The Light of Fire emitted a powerful sacred aura, and the golden flames merged into a single expanse, forming a golden sea of fire over the crater.
The mummies shrieked horribly in the sea of fire, but no matter how hard they tried, how much they struggled, they ultimately couldn't reach the other side of the fiery sea.
Moments later, there wasn't a single mummy left on the crater. Lex had dealt with all of them by himself.
"This is truly insane," Danitz watched, dumbfounded.
Lex used Provocation to attract the mummies, and once they gathered, he unleashed a Light of Fire, so cleanly and efficiently reducing nearly a hundred mummies to ashes.
As a fellow 'Hunter', Danitz also knew Provocation, but he had never tried to use Provocation on a large number of monsters. After all, even low-level demons like mummies, if they gathered in large numbers, could lead to death if one wasn't careful.
Seeing that no more mummies were rushing out of the cabin, Lex gave an 'all clear' signal to Edwina and the others behind him. Iceberg Admiral had her Second Mate scout ahead, and had Lex and Danitz walk beside her, while the rest were responsible for covering the rear.
They entered the lower hold of the sailing ship, passed through a warehouse, and climbed a staircase. Along the way, they occasionally encountered one or two Zombies or Specters, which were easily dealt with.
Finally, they found the Captain's Cabin.
Standing in front of the Captain's Cabin, Edwina warned, "The Captain of this ship is rumored to be a Nether Queen's Descendant. Her strength is definitely not simple."
"Perhaps she isn't dead yet, and even if she is, as a Beyonder of the Death pathway, they can be resurrected."
Lex nodded in agreement, because the Sequence 4 of the 'Death' pathway is Undying!
"In any case, if anything feels off, we must retreat immediately, even if we gain nothing. Understood?"
After repeatedly cautioning those around her, Edwina, with a gloved hand, grasped the doorknob and tried to push. The wooden door opened with a 'creaking' sound.
The light in the Captain's Cabin was dim. Even with windows, the outside was already covered with a thick layer of dust, making the room's light not bright enough and appearing murky.
As a Nether Queen's Descendant, the Captain's Cabin was exquisitely furnished, entirely befitting her status.
Upon entering, there was a thick carpet, woven with patterns. Although the patterns were no longer visible due to dust, this did not prevent Lex from judging its value.
In addition, there were bookshelves, display cabinets, a desk, a high-backed chair, a chandelier, golden candlesticks, and everything else one could imagine.
Even on the wall behind the desk, a golden helm was hanging!
Besides that, on the other side of the wall, there was also a huge snake head statue, but it was not made of gold.
But what attracted everyone's attention the most was the white skeleton sitting on the high-backed chair behind the desk. The skeleton was dressed in a long black robe adorned with golden badges, wearing a matching boat-shaped hat, and a long sword encrusted with various gems hung from its belt.
It appeared to be the Captain of the Nether Lord.
Immediately, gazes turned towards Edwina, and Danitz couldn't help but ask, "Captain, is this the Nether Queen's Descendant, the owner of this ship?"
"No, I don't think so."
Edwina frowned and said, "Even if that Nether Queen's Descendant was truly killed, and even if her beyonder characteristics had precipitated, her remains would still be Beyonder."
"In the Church, the ashes of some saints are even preserved to counteract evil forces."
"But from this skeleton before me, I can't feel any Beyonder qualities."
Lex coughed into his fist, "Perhaps, this is a substitute. The Nether Queen's Descendant's substitute on the ship?"
