Saint Samuel Cathedral.
Bishop Elektra was preaching, holding the 'Revelation of Night'.
"They are naked, without clothes or food, uncovered in the cold."
"They are drenched by heavy rain, and having no shelter, they cling to the rock."
"They are mothers whose children have been taken, they are orphans who have lost hope, they are the poor who have been forced from the Righteous Path."
"The night has not abandoned them; it has shown them favor."
The Bishop's deep, gentle sermon echoed through the Cathedral, and combined with the dim, tranquil atmosphere of the Grand Prayer Hall, it made every believer feel an involuntary sense of peace, as if they had forgotten the troubles of life and no longer worried about the various difficulties of the real world.
Their souls were cleansed, becoming pure and ethereal.
After the sermon, the priests took water and bread, distributing them to the believers. This was the favor of the night, and no believer was willing to miss such a 'holy communion'.
Xio and Fors were no exception; after all, they had both arrived at the Cathedral at dawn to attend mass, and they had not yet had breakfast. Although the 'holy communion' consisted of ordinary bread and plain water, it could alleviate their hunger.
While eating, the five-foot-tall blonde Miss scratched her rough hair and whispered, "Fors, do we still have to come to the Cathedral to pray like this tomorrow?"
"I don't think the Feysac people are very likely to attack. The news you received might not be that accurate, as I haven't received similar news."
'That's because you've never joined the Tarot Club,' Fors muttered to herself. After she told her friend the news that the Feysac people were about to attack Backlund, the two Young Misses had been coming to the Cathedral to pray every morning for the past two days. The Cathedral's priest was relieved by this, believing them to be devout believers.
But the truth was...
"Believe me, Xio . The Cathedral is safer than our apartment. If war breaks out, we, being in the Cathedral, will be the first to receive the Church's protection."
"Looking at all of Backlund, besides Your Majesty's palace, there is no place safer than the Cathedrals of the Three Great Churches!"
Just as she was speaking, an endless grey mist suddenly surged before Fors' eyes. In this grey mist, she saw a blurry figure praying, and then the other party's voice reached her ears.
"...I received news that the Feysac people's operation failed. Someone witnessed firsthand on the Sonia Sea that the item the Feysac people used to cross the Sea and launch a surprise attack on Pritz Harbor was destroyed, causing a large number of the Feysac Empire's fleet to be stranded on the Sonia Sea."
These images quickly ended, and the grey mist dissipated, as if they had never appeared.
Fors, however, fell into a dazed state.
The Feysac people's operation failed?
Their fleet was largely stranded on the Sonia Sea?
Does this mean they can't attack Pritz Harbor?
The war ended before it even began!
Upon realizing this, Fors cheered and stood up, which drew many displeased glances.
"I'm sorry."
"My apologies."
The writer Miss bowed repeatedly to her surroundings, then sat back down and grabbed Xio 's hand as she was bringing bread to her mouth.
"What is it? Let me eat it, I'm starving," Xio said somewhat impatiently.
Fors whispered, "Don't eat anymore. I'll treat you to breakfast, a real breakfast. With delicious and fragrant coffee, soft white bread, and freshly fried, aromatic pork sausages and smoked meat!"
Her description made Xio swallow hard. The five-foot Miss emphasized, "I don't want coffee, I want milk! I heard drinking more milk can make you grow taller!"
"But didn't you say it's best for us to stay in the Cathedral?"
Fors winked at her: "My intuition tells me that the war won't happen, so we don't have to rely on holy communion to solve our problems every morning."
Xio blinked: "Why don't I have that feeling?"
Fors pulled her up from her seat: "Because it's a woman's intuition!"
Xio seemed to understand something, yet also understood nothing at all.
Sonia Island.
Two fishing boats left the dock, heading in the opposite direction of Sonia Island in the warm afternoon sun.
Quincy rowed the boat while staring at the tall, ordinary-looking, unremarkable Feysac man in front of him.
After a while, he finally couldn't help but look at Lex: "Is this your informant? What could make a Feysac man betray his Empire?"
Lex shrugged, offering no explanation, but he secretly controlled Levto to speak.
"I am only half Feysac. My mother is from Feynapotter. I was treated as a 'bastard' since I was young. When I was five, my Feysac father sold me to a circus for the price of a lamb."
"I survived with great difficulty. I had to perform on stage starting at age seven, and the Feysac people in the circus all urinated on me."
"So, to be fair, I only look like a Feysac, but if I could, I would want to kill every Feysac. Of course, that's clearly not something I can do, so I've adopted another method, such as selling information related to Feysac to Lieutenant Lex."
Whether Levto's words touched on some of Quincy's past, the blue-haired fellow fell silent, then patted the giant's shoulder and said, "I understand you."
Lex couldn't help but look at Quincy curiously, thoughts bubbling up in his mind.
How do you understand, Quincy? What have you been through?
More than an hour later, they saw the 'Wave Breaker'. As they walked onto the deck, the crew who came to greet them all fired their guns and saluted.
After the military salute, Captain Ken Angus bit his cigar and said, "Congratulations, boys, you actually became the heroes who stopped the war. Honestly, when you left the camp, I never imagined this day would come."
The Captain raised his finger and pointed at Lex: "Especially you, little Lieutenant, you are the biggest hero in this incident. It was you who discovered the Feysac people's plot in advance, and it was also you who disrupted their plan."
"Damn it, I already have a premonition that you will receive a huge, weighty reward!"
"But for now, I suggest you go find Natalie Anne and get your arm treated first."
Ken said, gesturing with his own arm.
Lex's hand still had large burn marks, courtesy of Shevic. Lex nodded, then briefly explained Levto's situation. Ken did not dwell on the matter, showing his trust in Lex.
"Go rest, all of you. I'll notify you when there's an instruction from headquarters."
"Now, dismissed!"
Lex took Levto into the cabin to find Miss Apothecary to treat his arm. At that moment, he clearly felt that a large portion of the potion in his body had been digested.
