Shen He looked up at the sky.
"Lelouch, break into the internal command room. Control everyone still alive and bring them into the escape pods. We need to prepare for evacuation."
"Evacuate?" Lelouch blurted out instinctively.
He quickly reacted and looked up at the jets in the sky.
As expected, several fighter jets were already rushing toward them—
—accompanied by multiple air-to-surface missiles.
BOOM—!
A violent explosion erupted directly on the deck of the carrier.
"Please leave immediately!" Jeanne shouted at Lelouch while brandishing her flag.
Her Noble Phantasm was not something that could be used indefinitely; the flag would begin to wear down with extended use.
"If we fail to take control of this carrier, Hydra will choose to destroy it," Lelouch said as he sprinted toward the interior. "And not just Hydra—this battle has been going on far too long. Other nations must have noticed something is happening. Without knowing the exact situation, most leaders will make only one decision."
To destroy a weapon that has gone out of control.
Lelouch still lacked understanding of this world.
Had he known more, he would have realized it long ago.
But Shen He had already anticipated everything.
Hydra's pilots had received the order to annihilate the carrier. One missile after another launched, slamming into the immobile vessel that had no capacity to counterattack. Even a specially armored supercarrier could not withstand such relentless fire.
Shen He's watch had already begun counting down. He and Shiki violently broke through the sealed bulkheads, allowing Lelouch and his men to storm inside and subdue everyone they found.
In truth, Hydra had already taken over almost the entire interior.
Even with fewer numbers, no one could guard against a trusted comrade suddenly turning on them.
"Bring everyone here," Lelouch commanded the controlled personnel.
He had already guessed Shen He's intentions. Nothing was more hidden than a place already marked for destruction.
The entire carrier began to shake. Continuous strikes tore apart the deck, then the inner compartments, then the hull itself. Seawater flooded through ruptured openings. Power conduits snapped. Shen He's group swept through the interiors, collecting all surviving personnel. Most were Hydra operatives, but under Lelouch's Geass they became the most loyal of soldiers.
Finally, trails of incoming missiles streaked across the sky.
One after another, massive explosions consumed the carrier in flames. Debris scattered in all directions. A vessel worth billions of dollars was reduced to shattered wreckage.
National power had finally intervened.
And not only against the carrier.
The U.S. military began advancing toward S.H.I.E.L.D.'s headquarters, branch bases, and even several secret facilities where battles had broken out.
