The forest was quiet again, except for the rustling of leaves and the occasional call of birds. Through his limited body senses, Alex detected the familiar presence still moving nearby — the same curious creature from before.
At first he thought it was some animal but suddenly he became surprised when he can see somewhat hazy white outline of the creature which is not possible as he has sensed many animal during his time as a tree.
"Hello." A young girl, no older than ten said while seeing her surrounding like searching for something.
I instinctively said " Hi".
"Oh my god, did you just talk?!!!!"
She shouts and then runs in circles for a while. "Wait I think everyone else will think I am crazy if I say a tree can talk."
Yes of course.
Frankly I can only see her spirit, shining against the dark background.
"Erm.. do you have a name, o tree spirit?"
At that point I wonder whether she sees me as a tree or as a person. My name is Alex. What is yours?
Yui. I am ten this year, and I am a shrine maiden.
"Hello Yui." She seems quite willing to talk.
"I see. How come you can see me?"
"Hmm I think that is because a shrine maiden's can communicate with the sprit of the world though my mother is greatest at communicate with worlds sprits. It is called [Nature Communion] something like this.
Sounds really special.
"It does not do much actually. Just allows me to see and talk to spirits and stuff. Oh my, I think I better go back. Looking at the time it is quite late at night." She said.
"Well, drop by if you feel like it. It is nice to talk to someone."
"Okay." Yui nods, and walks off.
Yui would later come by every week, and we would talk.
During this period of talking I learnt many things about the world and my surroundings.
The people inhabiting this world doesn't have special powers like i thought and they are still living some what primitive type like ancient people.
At first I thought I have come to ancient Japan because of their language which is japanese but later I found out that this continent is called Land of Ancestor and it has many countries which fighting for supermacy just like warring era .
A peciular name which was somewhat familiar like i have heard it somewhere i thought it is in some history or something so i ignored it.
I am rooted in a place called the Great Forest outside the human settlements and is slightly left on middle part of the continent.
"Can I ask for a favor?" I asks one day, after a few months talking.
"Hmm?"
"Would you mind being my contractor?"
"How does that work?"
"You get to summon me to aid you in battle."
"I would love to, but I think I do not do much warrior thing."
"It's okay you can use it to protect yourself"
"Okay, now I have a tree familiar. I think it should be quite cool."
Fine then.
[Alex has requests to enter into a familiar contract. Do you accept?]
In the mind of Yui a menu type feeling appears which asks to click yes or no, and she mentally choose yes.
Yui smiles. "Yay! I have a tree familiar. This is so awesome. I bet nobody else has a nature-aspect familiar."
