Chapter 42 - Chapter 41

"By the way, I'm Brogy!" Brogy's thunderous voice shook Rodney's ears like peals of thunder. "What's your name?"

"You can call me Rodney. How are you?" Rodney replied, trying to shout over the roar of the wind.

"Hey, Gabababa, you guys and your team are here to charge the Log Pose?" Brogy roared, eyeing Rodney curiously.

Brogy, one of the pirate captains of the Giant Host, famous a century ago as the "Red Ogre," was known for his indomitable strength and fiery temper. He was an inseparable friend of Dorry, the "Blue Ogre," but their friendship was marred by a perpetual dispute over who hunted the larger prey. The dispute escalated into a duel that lasted for a century, each time ending in a draw.

A hundred years of fighting over nothing is a waste, even for giants whose lives are three times longer than a human's. A hundred years is only a third of their lives. Yet, their friendship remained unshakable, despite their constant attempts to defeat each other and earn glory.

Rodney shook his head, "I came here to hunt and brought Log Pos."

"You're lucky," Brogy remarked, "if this were another Log Pose, you'd have to spend a whole year here to charge its magnetic power."

Little Garden was a harsh place. The weak Log Pose couldn't handle its powerful magnetic energy, and the traveler had to wait a full year to recharge it. For Rodney, the island posed no threat, but for pirates without sufficient power, it was a true nightmare.

The volcano erupted three times a day, predators like tyrannosaurs roamed the island, and the intense heat was unbearable. An ordinary person couldn't survive there for more than a year.

Moreover, Brogy and Dorry used the volcanic eruptions as a signal for their daily duels. To be caught in their fight meant dooming oneself.

"This..." Rodney, looking around, noticed another giant sitting nearby. The giant held a barrel of wine, half the height of a man, in his hands, like a normal person holding a glass, and drank it down in one gulp, draining the barrel to the bottom.

"Dorry?" Brogy exclaimed, recognizing his opponent.

"Brogue? Gyagaga, have you come for a drink too?" the bearded giant roared.

They usually fought only during volcanic eruptions and did not engage in combat at other times.

"That's right, Rodney invited me! I heard the wine here is good!" Brogy greeted Dorry with a wave of his hand. "Gyagaga, let's have a drink together. Alcohol is only enjoyable in the company of friends," Dorry laughed and finished off another keg of wine.

Crocus, who met Dorry while collecting firewood, smiled and said, "I met Dorry and thought that since he is a member of the Giant Warrior Pirates, I should invite him over."

Crocus was old and remembered the giant pirates, although by the time he set sail the crew had already disappeared.

Brogy sat down and began to butcher the brontosaurus leader. He rolled a tree trunk over to the fire and turned it into a skewer for grilling the meat. He threaded the pieces of meat onto the skewers and placed them on the makeshift grill.

Taking the barrel of wine that Dorry handed him, Brogy removed the lid and drank it down in one gulp.

"May our minds be at peace, long-awaited spirit!" Brogy exclaimed with a hearty laugh.

Sitting and chatting with Dorrie, Brockie said, "It's been a while since I've had a drink with friends."

"To your health!" Crocus and Rodney raised their glasses of wine. They weren't giants, so drinking from a barrel would have been too much trouble.

The brontosaurus meat soon finished cooking, and they were enjoying a hearty meal and copious amounts of drink. Dorry asked Crocus, "You mentioned knowing about the giant pirates. How are my partners doing now?"

"They have blossomed," answered Kulokas.

"Disbanded? That's impossible! Even if we left, Jorul and Jarul would still be sailing with the pirate group," Dorry said.

"They were disbanded when I first set sail several decades ago. I heard about it from another giant," Crocus explained.

"How could this have happened? Jarul and the others should have survived." "The giant pirates had four captains: Brogy, Dorry, Jarul, and Jorul."

Brogy and Dorry fought on this island for a hundred years because of their bet, but even if they left, they believed that two other captains would continue the pirate business.

Many years ago, having lost two powerful captains, the Giant Warrior pirates were captured alive by marines. They were saved from execution by the nun Carmel. Since then, the giant pirates have disappeared from the sea, and encounters with giants have become rare.

"What?! I didn't expect that..." Brogy slapped himself on the forehead and reproached.

Dorrie said gratefully, "Luckily, there was that nun."

At this point Rodney spoke up: "It's better not to thank this woman."

Dorry and Brogy looked at Rodney, and Crocus looked surprised and asked, "You ran into her again?"

"Yes, it was all part of a conspiracy," Rodney explained. "It was a scheme between Carmel and the Marines to bring Carmel to Elbaf and resolve the feud between Elbaf and the Marines. This allowed the Marines to gain access to a gigantic weapon."

It was a collaboration between Carmel and the Marines. "What? Is it true?" Crocus was unaware of this secret and was very surprised.

— Despicable marines!

"How dare they deceive our people!" Dorry thundered, his anger evident.

They were more likely to trust their friend than a strange nun.

Rodney turned to Crocus and asked, "Have you heard of someone called the 'Mountain Witch' in the underworld?"

"You mean the Holy Mother?" Crocus thought for a moment and replied, "I heard she's involved in human trafficking."

"Yes, in Elbaf she's known as the 'Holy Mother,' but in reality, she's a human trafficker. The children she adopted were sold to the CP, and she even adopted Big Mom, one of the Four Yonko." Rodney refrained from mentioning Carmel's Devil Fruit use, as revealing too much information could be problematic.

"Big Mom? She's a monster!" Crocus recalled, meeting the woman from the Rocks Pirates, who had been considered a formidable figure among the monster-infested crew when they teamed up with Garp. Now she was one of the Four Emperors, alongside Shanks.

— She kidnapped and sold children from our Giant clan?

"Not exactly, but the Watchers have a huge army now, and they've won a few lotteries," Rodney said.

Suddenly Dorry straightened up, his voice, rolling like thunder, filling the deck: "Let's continue the fight, Brogy!"

Brogy, no less imposing, rose to greet them. "Yes, that's right," he replied. "Let's continue the fight. Only the living can return. I want to revive the Giant Warrior Pirates!" His voice held an insatiable thirst for glory.

"Let's do it!" Dorry shouted, and their words were lost in the whirlwind of the melee.

Swords rose, axes whistled, and a blinding storm, born of their fury, lashed out at the deck. The spectators, eyes closed, recoiled from the hurricane. Only Kulokas, standing firmly on his feet, calmly shielded his glass of wine from the spray.

Rodney, glued to the deck, couldn't tear his eyes away from the raging battle. "God," he whispered, "why did they start fighting over some kind of disagreement?"

The incredible power emanating from every movement of the giants was breathtaking. Could they really be mere humans?

"So much for giants," Crocus remarked, his gaze still on the battle, "but the sea is full of monsters. Rodney, you still have a long way to go!"

He took a leisurely sip of wine, and Rodney felt a chill run through him.

"I don't care if they fight or not," Rodney muttered. "No matter how much they fight, it'll still end in a draw. Unless someone else interferes, or they screw up and cause an accident. Their lives will just go on like this. It feels like they're wasting their lives."

Brogy and Dorry's strength was unmistakable; even the texture of their clothing and weapons was identical, leaving no room for chance. Unless someone interfered, or they themselves accidentally caused a mishap that resulted in the death of the other.

"That's the way giants are," Crocus remarked, "they fight for glory. The reason they started fighting is irrelevant."

"Yes, it doesn't matter," Rodney agreed, "they will fight for her to the death! For the glory of warriors!"
