A nagging sensation tugs at the edges of my consciousness, but I cannot grasp what it means or why it feels so urgent.
What I do know is that our bond should not be developing this rapidly, yet nothing about it feels wrong. Every fiber of my being tells me this is exactly how things should unfold, and I find myself eager for us to complete this connection soon.
"Captain, we have finished reviewing the financial records. This situation is worse than we thought. Alpha Ted needs to hear this immediately."
One of my Squad members reaches out through the mind-link, jerking me away from my thoughts about the mate-bond that grows stronger by the hour.
"Atticus, is your office private enough for sensitive discussions?" I ask, watching his eyes flash with heat before I quickly clarify. "Not for that reason, you impossible man."
