Chapter 16 - Chapter 16: Our Bulk Province is like this

Giving fruit bowls to the girls in Dorm 317 was out of fear that Jiang Jingya would suffer, but Yao An herself had no such concerns.

She was confident she could handle dormitory relationships well.

She arrived at the University of Finance and Economics subway station around 3 PM, and after seeing the security room, she hesitated for a moment and walked into the fruit shop again.

She would be living at the University of Finance and Economics for four years. To live comfortably, joining student organizations was secondary; the main thing was to properly manage the various functional departments.

For example, the security guards and the Dormitory Auntie.

The former often seemed only capable of stopping delivery drivers, but when certain things really happened, this department held great power.

To put it unpleasantly, it was a bit like the imps in front of the King of Hell's palace.

Quite a few boys gave things to the security guards, like those from the Student Union, who would casually toss over a cigarette or two to get familiar.

But there were really only a few girls who gave them things.

And Yao An's appearance was memorable; it was hard not to be remembered.

After Yao An 'defeated' their security system with iced watermelon, a young security guard stepped forward, patted his chest, and said that if anything ever happened, she could come to him, and he would absolutely not refuse within his capabilities.

Yao An was very satisfied. Just as she was about to leave with her wheeled suitcase, a somewhat familiar voice came from behind her.

"The young lady who loves to dance square dances?"

Yu Huai was immediately surprised and delighted when he saw her puzzled and slightly embarrassed profile.

"I knew that back looked familiar; it really is you."

Yao An was a bit speechless. She had specifically worn a baseball cap because she didn't want to be noticed, but she was still discovered.

And it was this overly familiar guy.

He probably had some notoriety at the University of Finance and Economics; many people looked over at them because of his approach.

Yu Huai might have noticed that Yao An didn't want to attract attention, so he thoughtfully suggested:

"You're a freshman, right? Shall I take you to the registration office?"

"Phew... let's go."

Yao An didn't want to talk much.

Although it was the afternoon, there were still many people at the activity center. However, with Yu Huai leading the way, paying fees directly skipped the queuing process.

"Are you a member of the Student Union?"

"Yes, head of the Literature and Arts Department."

Seeing her expressionless, Yu Huai felt the urge to show off for the first time, wanting to explain the value of being a department head in the University of Finance and Economics's Student Union.

But he held back because he felt it would be useless to say it; she probably wouldn't care and might even ask, "So what?" leaving him speechless.

"So your name is Yao An. It's a very nice name."

"..."

"Why did you choose the Industrial and Commercial Management major? This major isn't specialized, and its employment rate isn't very high compared to other majors."

"I know."

"Then you still chose it?"

"I like it."

How... how proud. Yu Huai had originally wanted to ask if she wanted him to help her change majors, but after hearing that answer, he could only swallow his words.

There were still many freshmen at the Business School's registration desk. Industrial Management indeed had many pitfalls, but many people didn't know because the major's description was very grand.

Moreover, this was the University of Finance and Economics in Shanghai, and the Industrial Management major was highly ranked.

Sitting at the Industrial Management Class A registration desk was a female teacher in her late twenties, wearing silver half-rimmed glasses, a white shirt and skirt, flesh-colored stockings, and nude high heels.

She was very attractive, with a well-proportioned yet voluptuous figure and a gentle demeanor.

The mismatch between her figure and temperament gave the teacher a certain contrasting appeal.

"Teacher Tao, this student is Yao An, a student of your Industrial Management Class A."

Yu Huai was like a salesperson from a full-service company; Yao An didn't even need to speak, and he had already handled everything for her.

Her surname is Tao? What a rare surname.

Yao An was observing her, and Teacher Tao was also observing her.

There was a hint of admiration in both their gazes.

"Hello, student. My name is Tao Lin, and I will be your counselor. Please fill in your identity information, and I will arrange your dormitory."

"Are we in a four-person dorm?" Yao An asked casually while filling out the form.

"No, only graduate students are in four-person dorms. Undergraduates are all in six-person dorms."

"Oh, then I saw two-person dorms in the admissions brochure. Who are those for?"

"Those are dorms for the International College."

The admissions brochure was practically a scam; not a single word could be trusted.

The activity center was about a 10-minute walk from the girls' dormitory. Along the way, many people greeted Yu Huai, and many girls curiously looked at the girl beside him, whose face was hidden by a baseball cap.

From her figure, it was not hard to tell she was a beauty, but exactly how beautiful was unclear.

Of course, Yao An's foxy eyes, hidden by the brim of her hat, were not idle either.

There were many beautiful female university students around.

One could only say it was indeed Shanghai, indeed the University of Finance and Economics; even in downtown Suzhou, one wouldn't see so many young and beautiful figures.

The regrettable thing was that she hadn't yet seen a girl whose beauty could rival Jiang Jingya's; even the stunning Counselor Tao seemed a bit less striking.

The sense of stunning beauty mainly came from her temperament and figure.

After being escorted by Yu Huai all the way to the girls' dormitory building, as Yao An was about to enter the dorm, she heard him ask from behind:

"Yao An, have you considered joining the Student Union? I feel your voice is very suitable for the broadcast station."

Why? Because it's very alluring?

Yao An turned to look at him and clearly refused.

"Senior Yu Huai, during my university years, I want to focus my main energy on academics and currently have no other plans."

Her words had two meanings: I don't plan to join the Student Union, and I'm not very interested in things outside of studying, especially dating, so don't have any ideas about me.

More precisely, not dating boyfriends.

Although saying this after accepting his help might seem like burning bridges, Yao An was a decisive person; she wouldn't string people along.

However, Yu Huai didn't seem to understand her meaning and continued to persuade her.

"University Student Union is different from high school. Here, you can expand your network, enrich practical experience, and greatly improve yourself. It's also a bonus point on your resume, and the broadcast station is relatively relaxed, so it won't delay your daily studies."

Yao An frowned. Before she could refuse again, a sweet voice came from not far away.

"Hello, Senior Yu, what a coincidence, we meet again! Are you at the girls' dorm to drop off your girlfriend?"

It was the girl in the hip-hugging skirt from the campus gate.

Yu Huai was momentarily distracted by the interruption. When he looked back, the tall figure was no longer at the dormitory entrance.

On the 4th floor of the girls' dormitory, Yao An fell into a long silence looking at the dorm number.

Dorm 404.

It looked like a very harmonious dormitory.

Shenhe of the password, can you please spare me this time?

Next life, I just want to be a child whose books aren't banned... Four people had already arrived in the six-person dorm. They had obviously gone through a round of self-introductions and were now busy with their own things, the atmosphere relatively quiet.

Seeing a very beautiful girl walk in, everyone stopped what they were doing and greeted her warmly.

As girls, there's always some degree of admiration for strength, which might manifest in appearance, ability, or money.

Girls with high attractiveness often find it easier to make friends, but there are pros and cons; while enjoying preferential treatment, they are also prone to envy and jealousy.

Adolescent girls are generally sensitive and complex, with deeper thoughts, and can easily develop grudges over trivial matters. This is also why girls' dorms are more prone to conflicts than boys' dorms.

The online stories about six-person girls' dorms having seven chat groups are absolutely not just jokes; reality is often even more absurd than jokes.

After a brief understanding of the dormitory's composition, Yao An had a clear idea.

The four people were: Han Wenjing, the shy, bespectacled girl from Hunan; Yang Jiajia, the 'little chili' from Sichuan; Wu Tong, the sophisticated university girl from Shanghai; and Tian Yuan, the petite, soft girl from Nanjing.

Among them, Wu Tong was the most beautiful, followed by Tian Yuan, Yang Jiajia, and Han Wenjing in order.

Observing along the way up the stairs, it was clear that the girls in Dorm 404 generally had high attractiveness.

Even Han Wenjing, who ranked last, was at least a class beauty, but her introverted personality and occasional downcast gaze made her seem a bit unremarkable.

Her large black-framed glasses further sealed off most of her beauty.

Of course, in terms of attractiveness, Yao An was undoubtedly the undisputed first.

Everyone was still quite friendly for now, first praising the local delicacies of each roommate's region, then sitting on their beds, sharing snacks they brought, and chatting.

"You're from Suzhou, so you and Tian Yuan are half-compatriots."

Yang Jiajia's Mandarin wasn't very standard, with a slight Sichuan accent, which is what everyone calls 'Chuanpu' (Sichuanese Mandarin)... Yao An and Tian Yuan's eyes met involuntarily, and smiles appeared on their faces.

Wu Tong, undoubtedly very knowledgeable about the neighboring province, interjected:

"People from their Jiangsu province, when they're out, only those from the same city can be called fellow townsfolk. Once they leave their city, it's pretty much like you all leaving your province."

"Ah? What kind of saying is that?"

Han Wenjing seemed to want to join in, silently raising her hand to speak.

"I heard it's because people from Jiangsu province are generally better at making money, so no one bows to anyone else. The thirteen cities within the province act as independent kingdoms and are affectionately known as the 'Thirteen Protectors'."

Yao An corrected her seriously:

"Now it's each county and district acting as independent kingdoms, known as the '72 Rebel Bandits'."

"Our 'scattered province' is like that."

Tian Yuan couldn't help but laugh, revealing a cute little canine tooth.

Just then, a complaining voice sounded from the doorway, breaking the harmonious atmosphere.

"This damn weather is so hot, making this broken building smell awful."

"I must have committed many sins in my past life to be assigned to live in this 6-story 'maid building' in this life."

Everyone turned to look and saw a figure in a wine-red hip-hugging skirt pushing open the dorm door...
