Chapter 130 - Vol 2, 128, Chapter 74: The Second Awakening

The frozen room had gone still.

Velzard sat at the edge of the bed, one hand resting lightly over Loki's chest, her pale blue eyes fixed on his sleeping face. Frost had spread across half the chamber already. The walls glittered white. The curtains had long since become stiff with ice.

For several minutes now, the pressure in the room had been unbearable.

It had risen.

Stabilized.

Risen again.

Then slowly, finally—

It began to settle.

Velzard exhaled.

A soft breath.

Relieved.

"So it's over."

Loki lay motionless on the bed, his expression calm, his body far denser than before, magicules coursing through him in a way that no longer felt unstable.

He had crossed the line.

He had become a Demon Lord.

Velzard allowed herself the smallest smile.

"…About time."

Then—

The room shook.

The ice on the far wall cracked.

Velzard's smile disappeared.

Her hand lifted from his chest immediately.

And then another notice appeared.

[Notice. Evolution to Demon Lord completed.]

[Notice. Commencing Awakening to Angel.]

Velzard's eyes widened.

"…What?"

She felt it.

A second transformation.

A second rise.

And unlike the first, this one did not feel demonic at all.

The air changed.

The cold in the room receded because something purer had entered the space. The pressure around Loki became lighter and heavier at the same time, radiant and absolute, as if a sun had begun to burn beneath his skin.

Velzard stood immediately.

"No."

Her voice was quiet.

But sharp.

"He's changing again."

Loki's body remained still.

Yet his magicules did not simply increase now.

They refined.

What had been monstrous before became cleaner.

Brighter.

More severe.

The frost around the room began to melt at the edges from the intrusion of a fundamentally different kind of power.

Then the awakening began in earnest.

[Spiritual composition rewriting.]

[Spiritual life-form properties strengthening.]

[Holy element compatibility confirmed.]

[Spiritron affinity expanding.]

[Holy magic authority acquired.]

[Spiritron Manipulation acquired.]

[Spiritual perception expanding.]

[Holy-Demonic Attribute Fusion commencing.]

[Resistance to spiritual interference increasing.]

[Spiritual body reconstruction completed.]

Velzard's fingers curled at her sides.

Loki's existence was becoming stranger.

More complete.

And somehow more impossible.

"An Angel…"

The words slipped out before she could stop them.

Not fully an angel.

Not fully a demon.

Something between.

Something crossing both sides at once.

The room brightened.

Not with ordinary light.

With presence.

The pressure rolled out from Loki in slow pulses now, each wave smoother than the last. His soul was no longer simply devouring power. It was organizing it. Giving it meaning. Giving it a place to settle.

[Unique phenomena detected.]

[Analyzing individuality.]

[Deriving governing principle.]

[Awakening Ultimate Skill…]

[Ultimate Skill acquired: Loki, Lord of Farce.]

The moment that Skill was born, the air in the room bent.

The ice hanging from the ceiling turned inside out.

A shadow appeared where no shadow should have been, then immediately corrected itself.

For one brief second the bed seemed to be floating six inches above the floor.

Then everything snapped back into place.

Velzard stared.

"…What was that?"

She had seen absurd powers before.

She had lived alongside Guy.

She had fought True Dragons.

She had watched Loki twist gravity, reality, and common sense into knots and laugh while doing it.

But this—

---

Far beyond her room, throughout El Dorado, powerful beings looked up at the same time.

In one of Leon's reception halls, Guy Crimson paused mid-conversation.

His red eyes gleamed.

Then his grin widened.

"Oh."

Across from him, Leon Cromwell frowned.

He had felt it too.

And unlike Guy, his reaction was immediate irritation.

"…Again?"

Rain looked up toward the ceiling.

"What now?"

Misery, standing by the wall, straightened a little.

Her eyes narrowed as she concentrated on the pressure spreading through the castle.

"That's Loki."

Dino, who had been lazily half-asleep on a couch a few moments ago, suddenly sat up.

"…No way."

Guy laughed softly.

"Hah."

"Hahaha."

Then he stood.

Leon looked at him.

"You sound pleased."

Guy's grin turned almost boyish.

"I am pleased."

Rain folded her arms.

"That's not normal."

Dino rubbed one eye and looked toward the frozen wing of the castle.

"That doesn't feel like a Demon Lord evolution anymore."

Misery nodded slowly.

"No."

"It changed."

Leon's eyes sharpened.

"What exactly is happening in that room?"

Guy's smile deepened.

"Something fun."

Leon looked at him flatly.

"That is not an answer."

Guy ignored him and looked toward the distance.

The pressure rising from Velzard's chamber wasn't wild now.

It was layered.

Part demonic.

Part holy.

Part something else entirely.

Guy's grin widened further.

"So he really did it."

Rain blinked.

"Did what?"

Guy answered without looking at her.

"He broke the rules again."

Dino let out a breath.

"…I knew it."

Leon stood from his seat.

"I am beginning to hate how often absurd things happen in my palace."

"You should charge admission," Rain suggested.

Leon glared at her.

Misery, for once, ignored the bickering entirely.

Her gaze was still fixed toward Velzard's wing.

"Guy-sama."

He tilted his head.

"Yes?"

Misery hesitated.

Then asked the obvious question.

"What is he becoming?"

Guy was quiet for a moment.

Then his voice softened into something close to admiration.

"Something the world wasn't meant to produce."

---

Back in the frozen room, the transformation deepened once more.

Loki's aura had stabilized into a terrifying duality now. His body remained asleep, but the power flowing through him no longer felt like something awakening blindly.

It felt guided.

As if some unseen system had chosen its direction carefully.

Then the final notices appeared.

[Holy-Demonic fusion stabilized.]

[Individual existence has surpassed standard demonic and angelic classification.]

[New race confirmed.]

[Notice. Race evolution complete.]

[The individual has evolved into: Nephalem.]

The room went silent.

Completely silent.

Even the frost stopped spreading.

Velzard stood beside the bed and stared at Loki for a long time.

Her expression was unreadable.

Not because she didn't feel anything.

Because she felt too much at once.

He had become stronger.

Far stronger.

That much was obvious.

But this was beyond simple power now.

Beyond a Demon Lord.

Beyond an Angel.

Beyond anything that should have occurred naturally.

Velzard slowly sat back down at the edge of the bed.

Then, after a moment, she reached out and brushed a strand of hair away from Loki's forehead.

Her smile returned, a small and soft smile.

Almost exasperated.

"You really are impossible."

Outside the room, the pressure slowly began to settle.

Through El Dorado, the watching monsters remained silent a few moments longer.

Guy was the first to laugh.

Leon hated that.

Rain didn't understand it.

Misery understood enough to be worried.

Dino only stared at the ceiling and muttered one quiet thing.

"…That's going to be a problem."

And in Velzard's frozen chamber, Loki slept on.
