The sudden strange noise startled Bob, scaring him into instantly pulling out the pistol from beside his seat.
Fortunately, his wife smiled and pointed beside him, where an old man with a twisted, ugly face was smiling and tapping on his car window.
Bob gave his wife an annoyed look, then rolled down the window and asked, "Buddy, do you need anything else?"
Bob was very curious about what this strange gas station attendant was doing.
He had already paid, and the attendant had given him directions. Now, was he asking for a fee for directions?
Just as Bob was puzzled, the old man chuckled strangely and said, "I remembered a shortcut not on the map. If you cross this canyon, you can reach that tourist attraction earlier."
Bob looked at the map the old man held up, noted the route his finger traced, and then thanked him, "Thank you, this will save us so much time."
"Hehehe, you're welcome!" The old man chuckled strangely and stepped back, indicating he had nothing further to add.
Seeing this, Bob nodded, rolled up the window, and drove away.
Watching the dust from the car disappear, the old man's eyes were filled with complex emotions.
But before the old man could ponder too much, he saw a figure appear on the distant barren slope.
Suspecting he had seen wrong, the old man rubbed his eyes, then was surprised to find the figure was even closer.
Then, under the old man's gaze, the figure quickly approached him, arriving outside the gas station in no time.
Seeing the person's tall, strong physique and the speed with which he crossed the barren slope, comparable to a motorcycle, the old man instantly thought of the Mutants he had cooperated with.
However, seeing how handsome this person was and how normal his limbs were, the old man found it difficult to equate him with those strange Mutants.
Chris saw the inhabited gas station from the hillside and quickened his pace, rushing down.
But when he arrived at the gas station, he found only the old man; the other humans he had sensed earlier had already left.
Even those strange, non-human things had also left.
Seeing this, Chris could guess that this was the opening scene of a horror movie.
It seemed those monsters had followed the normal humans and left, probably preparing to make their move after dark.
As for this strange old man, Chris guessed he was likely a common special NPC in horror movies, a henchman specifically responsible for luring humans for the monsters.
However, guesswork was one thing. The real evidence that allowed Chris to confirm this old man was not a good person was the psychic ability he had taken from the hypnotist.
Although Chris couldn't perform delicate tasks like hypnosis due to his lack of psychology knowledge, he could still do simple detection of people's thoughts.
After approaching the old man, Chris noticed the old man was full of malice towards him, scrutinizing him with an ill-intentioned expression.
So, when Chris reached the old man, before the old man could even speak, Chris kicked out, and the strange old man was sent flying backward.
With a bang, the old man crashed directly into the wooden hut next to the gas station.
After a series of wheezing sounds like a bellows from the old man, there was no sound within moments.
After casually eliminating a menace, Chris entered the hut this time to search for useful clues, hoping to confirm which world he had arrived in.
While Chris was searching for clues, the family from earlier indeed met with misfortune.
As they were crossing the canyon, their car tires were punctured by a spike strip laid by the Mutants.
"Hey, Bob. What happened?"
Dau, who was in the RV behind, noticed the vehicle had stopped and walked out of the RV to ask.
"Damn it, the car's tires were punctured by something, we need to find someone for rescue."
After checking, Bob immediately made a decision, turning to prepare weapons and personal belongings.
Dau listened to his father-in-law's words in disbelief, then offered his opinion, "What? Can't we just wait here for passersby? Someone is bound to come, right?"
"Then you stay here with Lane and them. I'll go back to the gas station to see if there's a usable phone there."
Bob ignored his weak son-in-law's suggestion, took his pistol and a few bottles of water, and prepared to walk towards the gas station.
As he left, he instructed his wife, "You all be careful here. I'll be back once I find rescue personnel."
"I will, you be careful on the way."
Bob nodded silently, looked at his two daughters and young son, handed a pistol to his young son, and then walked away from the RV.
Soon after Bob left, his family set up a sun umbrella, brought out lounge chairs and a dining table, as if they had started their vacation early.
Dau saw everyone laughing and thought for a moment before saying, "I'll go ahead and see if there's anything useful. You all be careful here."
Dau's wife, Lane, holding the child, nodded, then continued chatting and laughing with her mother.
Meanwhile, Bob's young son, Bobby, discovered their dog was missing and immediately rushed into the wilderness to search for it.
But when he found it, he discovered the dog had been disemboweled, its internal organs eaten.
He himself felt as if he was being watched by something, then, in a panicked rush, he fell down the hillside and passed out.

"Mutants caused by nuclear radiation? Those Anglo-Saxons really do all sorts of bad things!"
Chris examined the newspapers the gas station attendant had collected, as well as his own notes, piecing together the general information little by little.
Then Chris found a shoulder bag, which contained an incongruous disposable meal box. Opening the meal box, inside were a pair of human ears.
Seeing these things, Chris already remembered which world this was.
A horror film called 'The Hills Have Eyes,' which tells the story of Deformed People, a group of Mutants whose bodies were mutated due to nuclear radiation contamination from nuclear tests conducted by the American government, hunting humans.
Chris didn't have much of an impression of this movie, because apart from the Deformed Person girl who still had humanity, Chris felt the other plot points were too ordinary, so he hadn't watched it very seriously.
However, even though he couldn't remember the general plot, Chris could infer about seventy to eighty percent of the general plot from the existing information.
After all, the plotlines of low-budget European and American horror films are too similar; the main content is basically the same.
Coupled with the situation Chris had sensed earlier, that group of ordinary people should be the unlucky ones in this movie.
And although he suspected that the other party might be facing a life-or-death crisis, Chris had no intention of rushing to rescue them.
If they missed it, they missed it.
If that group of people could have waited for Chris to arrive at the gas station, then Chris might have gone to save them.
But, unfortunately, they happened to leave just before Chris arrived.
So Chris wasn't going to interfere too much; he was going directly to the lair of those Mutants to wipe out all these monsters.
If that family was lucky, they might survive due to Chris's influence.
If they were unlucky, then it could only be said that it was their fate.
