Chapter 2 - Chapter 2 - Reverse Rebirth

The hissing sounds coming from within the darkness multiplied.

Kaelion stepped back, realizing the mist was moving.

Red eyes gleamed one, two, three... four in total.

Kaelion: Four of them at once? This is supposed to be... a starting town, right?

No response from the system.

There should've been a tutorial quest, gentle creatures, safe zones. But this place was wrong!

He gripped his sword with both hands. The first creature charged out of the dark — a fox, but corrupted.

Bones jutted from its chest, its tail trembled, and its fur was pitch-black.

It wasn't an animal, it was a glitched file.

Kaelion deflected the first strike and swung his sword in return.A brief clang of metal, followed by a muffled shriek.

The creature staggered but didn't die.

Kaelion stepped back, bent his knees, and waited for the next attack.

The second one leaped forward.

He ducked on reflex, stepped on the first creature's back, and brought his sword down.

Instead of blood, black smoke burst out.

[Corrupted Fox Lv1 defeated.][XP +200]

Kaelion took a deep breath. But the other three were already moving.

The mist thickened, cutting visibility to almost nothing.

One lunged from the left, Kaelion swung, slicing only air.

Another darted behind him and sank its fangs into his wrist.

[-70 HP]Kaelion: Tsk! They're too fast…

Gray light, not blood, leaked from the wound.

The creature's eyes glowed even brighter in the dark.

Kaelion dropped to one knee but didn't let go of his sword.

One step back. One breath... then he lunged forward.

His blade split a creature's skull in half.

[XP +200]

The next one pounced — Kaelion twisted his body sideways and swung horizontally.

The impact cracked bone and echoed with a scream.

[XP +200]

The last one... waited. Its eyes flared. Then suddenly, it charged — larger, faster than the rest.

Kaelion raised his sword, but the beast shifted direction and slammed into his chest.

A heavy weight — a sound like an explosion.

Kaelion hit the ground, flat on his back.

[-150 HP][HP: 30 / 300]

His breath was ragged, the sword heavy in his arm.

And yet, something within him snapped — not fear, not rage, but acceptance.

Kaelion: ...If this place is meant to be heaven, then I'll stay the sinner.

He gripped the sword with both hands and rose to his feet.

The creature leaped again — Kaelion met it head-on.

The blade pierced through its body.

[XP +200][Level Up]

The screen flooded with white light.

Kaelion squinted.. but the numbers that appeared... were going the wrong way.
