Chapter 17 - Blood Items

Enoch's first move after entering the spirit realm was to use Bodily Exchange. He could not risk remaining in his physical form whilst inside of the spirit realm.

However, the more times he used the exchange, the more drained he began to feel in both forms. It was as though he had performed an intense workout.

"Your majesty, what did you do in there? There was at least ten of them!" Jane's now red spirit light asked.

She swiftly remembered that the bird couldn't talk.

"Never mind, follow me. I think I've found your physical body. Oh, and please forgive me for that mishap. You must know that I did not mean to lead you there!"

Enoch believed and followed the woman. Jane was a saint after all, and she had an idea of what the man was capable of.

Lying to him would lead to her ruin, and Enoch believed that she was aware of that.

---

After a while, Jane opened another portal and the pair re-entered the physical realm.

Once there, Enoch found his physical body sitting by a black fireplace at night, semi-conscious.

He used Bodily Exchange and became Enoch once again. Afterwards, he withdrew the Angelbird into his soul space.

As he looked up, Jane's red light was fluttering around him.

A lot had happened since they last spoke properly, despite it being only an hour or so ago.

She must be examining my status. She knows that not only am I the Godeater, but also that I devoured her god, Khovar.

"Your majesty..." She started. "I don't know what to say."

Enoch nodded. "Now you understand why I have these horns. Why I had to flee the Rose Kingdom."

"Yes, I do. But to think that you wielded a power so great. A power that allowed you to devour my god... You have freed me from my shackles."

Shackles. Enoch noted her word choice.

"Do you still have the title of saint? The god's death has clearly changed the colour of your spirit light, but what else has changed."

"I'm not sure... I will need to return to my physical body to find out."

"Will you be able to find your way back through the spirit world?" Enoch then asked. Without the guidance of Khovar, she has already made a mistake once.

Jane's spirit laughed. "Of course, your majesty. Although I no longer have the guidance of the god of blood, I have still learned much about the spirit realm. Perhaps more than even the divine astrologers."

Enoch rose to his feet and stretched. There was much for him to do now that the god had been eaten.

But Jane's spirit lingered, as if she had something more to say.

"Speak." Enoch demanded, making her jolt.

After a few moments of silence, she did.

"The Dragoni have truly arrived, your majesty. I fear for what will happen to our Kingdom."

"As do I, but we must remain strong. If I have need for you again, I will use the Angelbird to summon you."

With that, Jane reopened a portal to the spirit realm and prepared to open. Before flying through she spoke once last time to the Prince.

"Thank you, your majesty. Please be safe."

And as with that, she left Enoch Rose alone in the darkness of the forest.

It felt strange, not being in the presence of imminent danger.

The current safety allowed Enoch to go over his thoughts. Deep in his mind he could sense the memories of the god of blood, but he decided to ignore it for now, knowing what accessing such information could do to him.

Instead he turned to his soul space, where two new items lay.

Enoch reached inside and withdrew the first item. It was cold to touch, relatively large, and heavy.

[Magical Item Acquired: Crimson Painting of Danyok Tornchest]

[Grade: S]

> Description: A painting in blood, depicting the child of the god of blood, Danyok Tornchest, the son who inherited the Tornchest Kingdom, carrying on its name until it eventually became the Lavender Kingdom.

> Abilities:

Summon ~ When desired, the owner can summon a blood clone of the King form of Danyok Tornchest. The clone will last until it is destroyed, or until the owner wills the clone to return.

> Costs & Risks:

• The more time the King spends out of the painting, the more evil his nature becomes.

---

Enoch examined the painting in his hand.

It depicted a portrait of a man sitting on a log that rested by a lakeside. He would be described as incredibly beautiful with a joyful expression on his face, and the painting was clearly painted by a master.

Enoch was familiar with Danyok Tornchest. Being the heir of his blood-addicted and evil father, Danyok was determined to restore the name of the Tornchest Kingdom, bringing it back to glory.

He achieved this through spreading love and forgiveness, but that was not to take away from his incredible capabilities when it came to Blood Magic.

This is a powerful item, but I must make sure not to use it too much, lest the man become evil. Could I perhaps summon the king to gather information on history, or even gods?

With that thought, he placed the painting back into his soul space and withdrew the next.

It was a small circular item, clearly made from metal.

[Magical Item Acquired: Band of Threads]

[Grade: S]

> Description: A ring that grants the user the ability to see domain threads within the spirit realm, as long as they have enough knowledge on the domain owner.

> Abilities:

Threadsee: See the domain threads of known domain owners.

> Costs & Risks:

• None

---

Enoch was left stunned after reading the description of the powerful item. He couldn't help but feel that it was directly connected to the Angelbird.

It almost feels like the items I am being granted are aiding me towards living out my role as the Godeater.

With this, I can do what Jane did, and find domains. But although the item lists no costs & risks, there is indeed a great risk. That I would step foot into the home of a god.

Not wishing to lose the item, Enoch placed it back in his soul space. He would wear it once he had the desire to enter another god's domain.

But for the time being, his appetite was satiated. With the powers of two gods now resting inside of him, he had a glance of what his status looked like.

After taking in the information, Enoch sat there, satisfied. His next focus would be to breakthrough to silver.

This required him to consume his first soulseed, which could only be obtained from certain vendors in towns and cities.

Enoch knew he had to avoid civilisation for the time being, so he decided he would continue to travel the outskirts of the land, whilst also keeping an eye on the Dragoni, and their progress in the Rose Kingdom invasion.

Depending on how things went, Enoch's entire plans might change.

He hoped that his Kingdom would fight well in his absence.
