Chapter 347 - [348] : Gains and Return

Zoroya departed quite decisively.

With just a lowering of his head, he left the body he'd been possessing.

Silas had originally wanted to ask him about the peculiarities within himself, but the other party gave him no such opportunity.

Or, looking at it from another angle, Zoroya might have guessed that Silas would ask questions, so he immediately left after accomplishing his goal.

"Who are you? Where is this?"

The middle-aged gentleman, unable to grasp the situation, kept calling out in panic.

Especially when he looked around and discovered himself in a dark burial chamber, he became even more uneasy.

The powerful existence that had been lurking within him had already departed.

The real him was merely a Sequence 6 Beyonder.

Feeling confused and terrified about his current predicament was quite reasonable.

"Enough. Be quiet."

Silas found him noisy and directly commanded.

M's figure materialized behind him, her golden eyes emitting radiance that reflected in the middle-aged gentleman's eyes.

He immediately stood quietly, no longer speaking.

"Take this and leave here. Go home."

Silas turned and picked up a Beyonder characteristic from the ground, tossing it into his arms.

"Forget what we look like, and forget what happened today."

"Alright..."

The middle-aged man said in a daze, clutching the characteristic as he left the tomb.

When he regained consciousness, he'd probably be greatly puzzled by his gains, but that would no longer concern Silas and the others.

As for the unfortunate Best, he was already dead, so naturally there was no need to share anything with him.

"I'm just saying, you should be more careful choosing teammates next time."

Watching the man's figure gradually disappear into the darkness, Silas turned to Sharron and said.

Amon's tomb was indeed very dangerous, but honestly, the most dangerous factor in this exploration had been their companions.

A malicious demigoddess, and an even more dangerous and unpredictable high-sequence powerhouse... Their terrifying nature went without saying.

"...Mm."

Sharron nodded with deep agreement.

The two collected the Beyonder characteristics scattered on the ground while also going through the pockets of the deceased, gathering anything valuable together.

Though the exploration process had been extremely dangerous, taking inventory of the spoils always lifted one's mood.

Overall, this haul could be divided into three parts: the Beyonder characteristics precipitated by the previous explorers and the Beyonder items they carried, three massive diamond-like Wraith characteristics, and the peculiar picture frame with Amon's portrait.

Among them, the explorers' characteristics were generally lower sequence, the highest being only Sequence 6, and those Beyonder items were mostly at that level too... Though they did have some effects, they weren't of much use to Silas now. Only that picture frame, with its powerful abilities, was the most precious.

"How should we split things?"

Silas asked Sharron.

"I provided the tomb's location and organized the exploration. But I also selected the wrong teammates, so my share should be reduced." Sharron said calmly.

"You contributed more than I did, so your share should increase."

"You take seventy percent and get first pick."

It seemed she hadn't been dazzled by the abundance of precious items and still maintained a restrained attitude.

"That's fair."

Silas didn't stand on ceremony with her and directly reached out to take the picture frame.

"This counts as forty percent. For the rest, I'll take thirty and you take thirty. We'll split it evenly."

He said as he put away the frame.

"Acceptable."

Sharron had no objections.

The two roughly divided the remaining items equally.

Silas kept two Wraith characteristics and several more powerful Beyonder items.

He handed everything else he'd been allocated to Sharron to sell on his behalf at various gatherings, converting them to pounds.

After carefully cleaning up any remaining traces, the two left the burial chamber.

The moon in the sky was gradually setting westward.

Time was approaching late night.

The surface of the Stoneford River leapt with dim crimson scales of light, making splashing sounds.

The towering white stone cliffs bathed in moonlight appeared magnificent and majestic.

Having left the gloomy, terrifying burial chamber, the beautiful scenery before them made both feel as if they'd returned to the human world.

"How should I contact you afterward?"

After appreciating the natural scenery for a few seconds, Silas came back to his senses and asked.

"The demigoddess of the 'Rose School of Thought' has returned to Backlund. It's best not to make contact in the near term."

Sharron answered. "If there's really something urgent, you can show your face at the 'Bravehearts' bar."

"Just showing my face is enough?"

"Yes. I'll monitor that place covertly and contact you afterward."

"Understood."

Silas nodded.

Tonight's gains were indeed substantial.

The Wraith characteristics could be sold to [The World] at the Tarot gathering, and that Amon picture frame was even more powerful in effect and extremely valuable.

---

The Forsaken Land of the Gods, the City of Silver.

The pitch-black sky was occasionally torn by lightning, briefly illuminating the scenery on the ground.

On the dark, endless earth, a city stood quietly, radiating its own glow.

Derrick walked with his head lowered through the city streets.

"Derrick, is your observation period over?"

"Hey, Derrick, I heard about that incident. You did great, man!"

People on the street greeted him enthusiastically when they saw him.

"Thank you..."

Derrick replied somewhat stiffly, looking unaccustomed to people's attitudes toward him.

The reason for his sudden minor fame was related to this exploration.

After returning to the city, the exploration team finally discovered the temporal anomaly.

Thanks to Chief Colin and other experienced, knowledgeable elders' deductions, they'd roughly guessed it was related to the "Fate Rewind" ability of the "Angel of Fate" Ouroboros.

The team had experienced numerous repetitions.

If not for Derrick's reminder, they would likely have been trapped in that temple for an extended period until total annihilation.

Derrick's contribution was significant and received unanimous acknowledgment from his teammates afterward.

And since this exploration itself had drawn the attention of the entire city's people, when the team returned, what had happened quickly became known to gossips and gradually spread.

Thanks to them, Derrick, an ordinary team member who'd originally drawn no attention, was suddenly recognized by more people.

Mr. Hanged Man, does this mean I can slowly build connections...?

Derrick thought to himself.

He continued forward, arriving at the center of the City of Silver where a round tower stood.

This tower symbolized the City of Silver's highest authority.

The "Council of Six" worked here, and underground there were numerous classified facilities and locations.

"I'm here to see the Chief."

Arriving at the tower's main entrance, Derrick said straightforwardly to the Beyonder on guard duty.

"Go on up."

The latter spoke as if he'd expected this, stepping aside from the door he was guarding.

"Chief is waiting for you upstairs."

Just as Mr. Temperance said, the Chief already knew I had an anomaly...

Derrick thought as he pushed open the door.
