On the streets of some city as a group of people are waiting for the signal to cross the road. An ordinary guy whose looks are just barely touching the standards of average was standing along with the crowd waiting for the signal to cross the road. This is Shane a guy who cares nothing about other's troubles and struggles. Not because he is cold but due to certain reasons not many know about. Though he wishes he can show some concern or worry for other he just can't. Right now, as he is waiting, he is thinking about the conversation he had with his mother in the morning.

"Shane. One of our relatives has passed away." Said mom, as they are seated around the table.
"Who is it?" asked Shane as he placed the spoon in his hand on the table.
"My aunt. Your Grandmother's sister. She passed away yesterday" replied mom as her eyes became watery.
"I see, that's sad" said Shane as he continued eating though he had a sad expression on his face.
"Shane, we may have to go there tomorrow morning. so, finish your work as early as you can when you go out today and come back quickly" said mom though she was sad that her son was not having any tears even after hearing such news, but she can tell that her son was sad.
"Fine mom, I'll finish my work and return early" said Shane thinking about the deceased member of his family who was very kind to him wherever he visited her.
"Shane, why don't you try to show some care and connect with people more. After your friend has left for abroad you became reclusive just staying in home? If you stay home without going out, it will be awkward to even talk to our guests. I'm worried for you" said mom worried that her son won't become social again in his life and become an outcast in the society.
"Fine mom, I'll try. It's getting late, I'll be leave now" said Shane taking the words of his mother and pondering about them while leaving home.

'It's not that I want to be reclusive, but I see no point in caring about anyone when no one cared about me when I was in need of someone's kindness mom. Though I can't help but show kindness to others due to yours and Dad's teachings I just can't seem to care about them more then that' thought Shane remembering about something from the past.
'But I guess your right mom. I need to at least show the bare minimum to show that I'm not the same as those guys. So, I'll show some care to others that I meet daily.' thought Shane reflecting on his mother's words.
As shane was having his thoughts A random girl about age 15 or so was running towards the crowd in a hurry. As she ran she went past Shane to cross the road though it is still not safe for crossing as it is a bit common for people to just cross these roads though the cars move left and right. As she crossed shane and was almost crossing the road she forgot to see an incoming truck coming straight for her but, Shane observed this due to him always being the one to see things out while others are talking his observation was good. Seeing the girl is about to be hit Shane moved voluntarily and involuntary as he wanted to save the girl due to his upbringing but the same time his body moved on its own.
"Girl move out of the way" called Shane as he moved towards her. The girl being in a hurry and suddenly hearing someone called her turned forgetting that she was still on the road. But as she turned she saw the truck moving towards and she got stuck in place due to fear.
Shane seeing that the girl was not moving and was stuck like a statue speed up and reached the girl pushing her out the way. But in the process he himself lost his momentum which was passed to the girl. So, he got the full brunt force of the truck slamming into him. Though the driver applied brakes the truck was moving at the speed of 50kmph and hit Shane sending him 15 meters away from the collision point.
' Well, I'm fucked, and that to because I just wanted to save a missy' *sound of glass break* *collision happened while Shane's body was rag dolled on the ground twice before coming to a halt 15 meters from the accident zone* 'FUUUCCCCKKK IT HURTS IT FUCKING HURTS. THIS IS SO MUCH PAIN EVEN MORE THAN THE TIME I BROKE MY FEMUR BECAUSE OF FALLING FROM A 1 story building. DAMN it hurts *gasp x2* oh man it hurts so bad *pained gasp* what the fuck are you guys doing just watching as if you're watching a drama. Fucking call the AMBULANCE YOU IDIOTS' called Shane in his thoughts towards the crowd of onlookers who are just watching him.
Just then the girl who was saved came to the realization that she was about to be dead, but someone pushed her and took the blow. As she came to her senses, she ran towards the crowd that formed and pushed her way through with tears in her eyes. There she saw the guy who saved her about 20 to 23 years blood flowing from his head and his chest looking as if it caved in a bit in the side of the left because of how the right side was a bit wide than the left. She immediately came close to see if he was alive and asked " Hey, brother are you alright, are you alive?"
Seeing and hearing the question asked by the girl he saved just now Shane tried to move but only his head moved a bit. Seeing the movement the girls' tears grew and she was very scared, but she gritted and said "wait for some time I'm gonna call the Ambulance right now" as she took her phone to call the Ambulance and soon it was on its way.
'at least you have some sense girly to call the Ambulance otherwise I would be really disappointed in you' Shane thought in his mind
The girl now eyes full of tears and tears staining her cheeks kept apologizing to Shane that he had become like this because of her, but Shane called out to her weakly where his voice was almost like a whisper.
"Girlie. Hey girlie" called Shane but the girl was still crying. So, Shane tried to call her a bit loudly though it hurt his left side badly.
"HEY, YOU...GIRL" hearing her savior call out to her she immediately stopped her crying and came close saying "Brother, don't worry the Ambulance is on its way. You'll be saved". But Shane asked her something she was not expecting "Are y..ou al... right? yo..ur not hurt any...where are ... you because...I pushed you... So suddenly."
Though stunned for a bit the girl replied "No, I'm fine. I'm Not hurt but why are you asking me when you are the one who is hurt the most. You're not even angry at me or blaming me for your current situation?" Asked the girl confused
For that question Shane just smiled lightly a smile he rarely does when he is at peace and happy and replied " well it's good.... that your... alright. I was worried... you would ....be hurt. And I am not... angry at you...for what happened...to me. Just be.... careful next time....Okay?"
"Yes, but you shouldn't be talking and straining yourself so much." replied the girl.
"Can you...help me....and reach for....my pants?" Asked Shane.
The girl got confused by this request and voiced her confusion "Sorry? Brother what are you asking me in this situation?" Having some suspicion in her mind.
" My Phone...I need my...phone. Please give me... it's in....my pocket." Replied Shane.
"Ah! That's what you meant. Wait a sec I'll take it out right now" said the girl a bit red faced thinking about what she was thinking before and proceeded with the retrieval of the phone. Meanwhile Shane thought a bit after seeing her reaction 'What did you think I was asking for girl?' asked Shane in his mind unamused.
"Ah there it is. Here you go Brother" the girl said showing the phone while thinking 'what was that I felt other than the phone in the pocket. It was a bit long and a bit squishy and hard at the same time. Don't tell me it's that but my friend said that it is mostly 2-3 inches normally but his was at least 5-6 inches and it was not even hard.' She was brought out of her musing by Shane's voice asking her something.
"Sorry but can...you unlock it..... The password is *****" asked Shane as he gave the girl his password.
"Of course" replied the girl and typed the password which unlocked the phone.
"Go to... contacts and... search for ...a name called Te*** for me" asked Shane. Seeing the girl now her head and going through your phone Shane contemplated how to say about his situation to the person being called.
After finding the Number she was looking for, she heard Shane asking her to call the Number and put it near his ear. The Girl did as she was asked and put the phone to his ear. It rang for a few seconds and as Shane thought the call won't go through, it did and a voice came through as if it were surprised to get a call at this time early in the morning.
"Hey, Shane what's up man? calling so early" asked a male voice that was a bit lazy as if it has not been long since they woke up. Seeing the call being connected and hearing the voice Shane felt a bit relived that the call was picked and stated.
"Hey Idiota, .... nice to see you picked your phone this time at least, I was worried you're going to leave me hanging like the last 3 times and then gonna message me saying... that you were busy or that you woke up late." said Shane trying to sound as normal as he can but couldn't due to his pain.
Hearing the slight struggle voice of Shane his friend continued " Yeah, woke up just a bit before. But tell me is something wrong you sound troubled?" inquired the friend. Hearing the question Shane quickly denied it trying to sound alright "No, no trouble man. Just tired because of not having enough sleep. Anyway, can I ask you something really quick?" asked Shane.
"Sure, man what is it?" asked the friend to which Shane replied, "If I were to be in trouble you would be on my side right?"
"No, man I won't. *silence* hahaha" replied the man. but Shane wasn't sad but continued as if he knew this reply was what he would get. "I'm Serious man, just answer it truthfully. No jokes" asked Shane in a serious tone. Hearing the sudden seriousness, he replied in all seriousness " Of course man". Hearing this Shane felt a bit relieved that his friend got a bit serious but has not suspected anything wrong and continued.
"Then if something were to happen to me. promise me that you'll take care of my parents and little brother?" asked Shane. "What? dude you know we rarely do promises especially towards each other and" replied the voice but was cut off by Shane " JUST Promise me man." Asked Shane sounding somewhat like a plea. " *sigh* fine, I promise on my name that if something were to happen to you, I'll take care of your family. There you go I promised. Happy?" asked the man as if to confirm it with his friend. "Yeah... you will keep up with this promise, right?" Asked Shane a bit flustered. "I did it with my name on the line you think I'll back away from it?" asked the friend with a slight irritating tone as if his friend was questioning his loyalty.
"AH! no no. I was just making sure of it and don't worry if I were to see you or your family in real trouble then in the future, I'll definitely help you guys out." replied Shane but was shocked to hear his own words remembering his current situation and went silent a bit.
"yeah yeah I know you will. You're just that kind of guy that is why we are friends for almost 17-18 years now" replied the friend as if it was a matter of fact. "But why are you asking of this promise so suddenly?" asked Te***. "It's nothing don't worry about it and try to find a sister-in-law for me quickly man" said Shane in a joking manner as if to distract his friend from his questioning. Luckly, it worked. " Says the guy who has not dated a single girl till now. Instead of me you should worry about yourself more otherwise people will think some unnecessary things about you." Said Te*** slightly irritated but replied with a great counter he has against Shane.
"Hey, come on man you know I look nothing compared to you. Even when we were studying there were at least 3-4 pairs of eyes on you and would have been more if you were not hanging around with me. Besides I am enjoying the single life a bit and maybe God is going to choose the bride for me." replied Shane as a matter of fact.
"Don't talk nonsense if a Girl doesn't like me being friends with you, she might as well think of herself as dust that I don't give a damn about. And God doesn't help you in choosing your bride. He helps shaping your Bride into a worthy woman to you after you choose her. But I suppose you can't CHOOSE exactly with the way that you are" answered Te*** while giving Shane advice to start his pursuit which he knew Shane has stopped doing after a particular Incident in the past.
"Aright I'll take your advice. well, talk to you later, Take care." Said Shane as he heard the line cut and thought how he wasted his life not even being in a relationship or pursuing a woman while he observed guys who don't truly love much and are not seriously committed even if they are gonna be dating for just a short while.
"Who was that guy? Brother" asked the girl who was still beside him bringing Shane back from his thoughts to reality where he was still lying on the ground surrounded by bystanders.
'Fuck! these people are still watching as if this is some K-drama where miracles happen, and WHERE IS THE DAMMNED AMBULANCE AT?' thought Shane in fury.
