Red the Aloof, Patrick Redfield — No Devil Fruit — Power Level: King — Defeating him grants points!
Ledfield — a man said to be even stronger than Roger, Whitebeard, or Golden Lion.
Those three built empires with their pirate crews.
Ledfield stood alone — and still rivaled them all.
His Observation Haki was terrifying. He could see directly into a person's heart — read their intentions, their darkness, their fear.
After witnessing too many ugly souls, Ledfield came to trust no one but himself.
That's why he never formed a crew.
Once, he had even defeated the current Fleet Admiral, Steel Bone Kong.
But after that battle, he was exhausted and gravely wounded. Garp took the chance to subdue him — and thus, he was thrown into Impel Down.
Because Ledfield wasn't a Devil Fruit user, nothing could truly restrain him.
While Barrett could be subdued with seastone, Ledfield had to be kept unconscious to remain contained.
Even so, he could faintly sense what was happening around him — including the moment when Malverick and Barrett dragged his cage out.
"How are we supposed to wake up this old guy?" Barrett asked, frowning.
An unconscious Ledfield was useless.
"That's easy," Malverick replied, pressing a hand over the old man's chest.
"Just a little cardiac resuscitation."
A black vortex flickered around his hand.
Back on Skypiea, Malverick had absorbed a huge amount of Enel's lightning — and now, he put that energy to use.
Zzzzztt! Zzzzztt!
Electric arcs gathered in his palm, and then—
Boom!
A surge of lightning poured into Ledfield's chest, shocking his heart.
At once, the old man's eyes snapped open—
—only to flutter shut again.
Malverick: "???"
Barrett: "???"
"...You kidding me?"
"Forget it," Malverick sighed. "Let's go. He'll wake up on his own."
He didn't have time to babysit anyone.
If Ledfield truly was the legend the world claimed, he'd make it out himself.
Barrett didn't argue. He simply followed.
Outside Impel Down, Magellan, Shiryu, Hannyabal, and the others had already assembled their defenses.
They didn't know who they'd be facing —
just Malverick alone, or Malverick and the monsters of Level Six.
They desperately hoped it was the former.
Because the criminals of Level Six weren't just pirates — they were monsters among pirates.
Unfortunately, fate had other plans.
Moments later, Malverick emerged — with Douglas Barrett walking beside him.
The sight alone made Magellan's face turn pale.
"Ha ha ha ha ha! Magellan! Thanks for the hospitality all these years!"
Barrett cracked his neck, the joints popping like gunfire.
"Now, let's see how many of you can last against me!"
Then he charged.
Even without using his Devil Fruit, Barrett's sheer physical might was devastating.
Magellan and the others couldn't hold him back at all.
While Barrett's fists tore through the defenders, Malverick sprouted wings of light and took off into the sky.
He was leaving.
"Barrett, I got you out — that's as much as I owe you. Whether you escape or not is up to you now."
His purpose here was done.
He'd come to free Ledfield and Barrett — nothing more.
If they couldn't seize their freedom themselves, then they weren't worth his time.
Barrett didn't mind Malverick's departure.
They were never comrades — only temporary allies.
Moments later, Barrett fused himself with parts of Impel Down's upper structure, turning into a towering giant.
After a fierce, earth-shaking battle, he smashed his way out of the prison.
Magellan and the others barely survived.
During the chaos, the Beast Hell and Crimson Hell levels were heavily damaged, and a large number of prisoners escaped.
By the time Aokiji arrived with the naval fleet, Magellan's team had already suppressed the chaos.
But just as they caught their breath — another legendary figure appeared.
Patrick Redfield had awakened.
Malverick's lightning had fully revived him, though years of unconscious confinement had weakened his body.
Aokiji immediately engaged him in battle.
In raw power, Ledfield easily surpassed Aokiji —
but having just regained his strength, he couldn't fully dominate.
Soon after, Sengoku and Tsuru arrived with reinforcements.
Seeing the numbers stacked against him, Ledfield decided to retreat.
And so, all three — Malverick, Barrett, and Ledfield — escaped from Impel Down.
In the aftermath, the Marines scrambled to issue new bounties:
Red the Aloof, Patrick Redfield — 4,000,000,000 Berries
(Roger and Whitebeard were over 5 billion, so 4 billion was fitting.)
The Demon's Heir, Douglas Barrett — 1,900,000,000 Berries
Malverick — 1,500,000,000 Berries
After the chaos settled, Malverick returned to the North Blue.
But as soon as he arrived, he ran into a familiar face.
Aboard a pirate ship, a woman sat calmly in a chair.
On the deck lay the bodies of over twenty pirates — the rest stood trembling, heads bowed.
Their captain had just been killed and tossed overboard by this woman.
None of them dared look her in the eye.
"What's wrong?" she said coldly. "Didn't you want to hand me over for my bounty a moment ago?"
She bent down and picked up a crumpled bounty poster.
"Devil's Child" Nico Robin — 80,000,000 Berries
That's right — it was Robin, just two years out on her own.
The little girl from years ago had grown into a composed young woman.
Because she'd been constantly on the run, her complexion had lightened, her demeanor sharpened — but her eyes still carried the same deep intelligence.
An 80-million bounty was an enormous sum for someone not even of age yet —
enough to make any pirate in the North Blue drool.
And that was why this crew had targeted her.
But they had gravely underestimated Robin.
She might be young — but her mind was razor-sharp, and her abilities were anything but weak.
