Chapter 2 - Chapter 2 — A Shadow in Flight

Weeks passed.

Weeks of drifting through the skies of Europe as little more than a malicious breeze, a sentient shadow. Weeks of slipping into the bodies of creatures too small to draw attention—rats, owls, sometimes a stray cat when desperation outweighed caution.

Each time, I devoured the animal's soul entirely, consuming their essence with my newly gained necromantic authority. It wasn't pleasant… but it was efficient. I could feel myself growing denser, more substantial—closer to human once again.

And during those weeks, I thought. A lot.

The truth was undeniable:there was no "original Voldemort" and "new me."Our souls had fused into one mind—one identity.

His ambition. My rationality. His mastery of magic. My understanding of science and psychology.

Not reborn Voldemort.A perfected Voldemort.

But that left one major problem…

The Death Eaters.

They already existed, bound by oaths, ideology, and fear to the version of Voldemort who had grown unstable. Blood purity—an idiotic concept Tom never truly cared about—had become dogma only after the Horcrux insanity set in.

I sneered into the cold French night.

"Purity is weakness. Strategy is power."

If I resurrected myself publicly now, everything would reset to that foolish crusade. The same mistakes. The same downfall. The same prophecy.

No.This time would be different.

The System chimed inside my consciousness:

[SYSTEM STATUS]

System Shop: Locked (0 System Points)

Quests: Active when decisions arise

Current Soul Integrity: 12%

Threat Level: High (Dumbledore alive)

Dumbledore. The man who haunted Tom's deepest fears—fears I now carried like echoes in my bones. Logic told me he couldn't destroy me fully, not like this. Yet psychological scars didn't obey logic.

That's why I fled Britain. That's why I hovered now over rural France. That's why every shift of magic in the air made me recoil.

But survival came first. Growth second. Revenge later.

The System hummed.

Important Decision DetectedHost must choose a primary strategic path.Rewards will vary based on chosen trajectory.

Three glowing options appeared in front of me like ethereal text carved into the dark:

OPTION A — Reorganize the Death Eaters

Reappear as the Dark Lord reborn

Purge weakness and reshape the faction with new ideology

Reward: Hidden Dark Ritual + 500 SP

OPTION B — Abandon the Death Eaters

Build a new network of loyal followers

Manipulate the wizarding world from the shadows

Reward: Advanced Occlumency Upgrade + 300 SP

OPTION C — Seek New Power First

Prioritize a human vessel and magical growth

Avoid all large organizations until strong enough

Reward: Random Bloodline Fragment + 200 SP

Everything froze.Even the wind seemed to hold its breath.

I weighed the choices, every scenario unfolding like chess moves in my mind.Death Eaters meant immediate force—but immediate surveillance.Abandoning them meant freedom—but slower influence.Power first meant safety—but delayed conquest.

But I reminded myself:

Dumbledore still watches Britain.

I have no body.

Weakness must be cured before ambition.

I felt my will sharpen into a single, cold decision.

I choose—

✅ OPTION C: Seek New Power First.

[SYSTEM UPDATE]

Choice AcceptedReward Dispensed: Dragon Bloodline Fragment (Dormant)New Quest Added: Acquire Suitable Host

A faint pulse ran through my soul like a heartbeat awakening.

Dragon blood. The myth of pure might and magical resilience.Dormant for now… but promising.

I turned my gaze toward the French countryside.

"First, a vessel…""Then, the world."

I drifted toward the lights of a distant manor.

Unseen. Unstoppable.A shadow laying the foundation of a new empire.

And this time…

the Dark Lord would rise without insanity, without prophecy, without failure.

Just inevitability.
