Chapter 17 - Chapter 17 Is your hometown in Nottingham?

  Barak Junior Soul Master Academy,

  First Year, Class 1.

It was the same familiar scene,

  the same familiar beginning,

and the same two familiar troublemakers.

"Wei, today I'll let you experience 'Dengdua Lang'."

  "Dengdua Lang?"

A chubby boy, wearing glasses, with a bright smile, put a hand on Lu Wei's shoulder and then exerted force!

  "Dengdua Lang!"

Lu Wei felt a dizzying sensation, as if he were floating on clouds. Then he screamed and crashed heavily to the ground.

"My self-created soul skill, Dengdua Lang, how about that?" Brother Jie chuckled, helping Lu Wei up from the ground.

"Really? A soul skill that can be used without soul rings!" Lu Wei seemed to have discovered a new world, a dazzling world waiting for him to explore.

He said, "Brother Jie, can you teach me Deng Dua Lang?"

Brother Jie scratched his head awkwardly, "Hmm, I'd like to teach you, but it seems impossible, because I don't know how I learned it."

  "Huh?"

"It feels like it's an instinct of the martial soul, just like you can breathe from birth, it's instinct. You want me to teach you to breathe, how am I supposed to know how to teach you to breathe?"

  "Inhale—exhale—"

Lu Wei completed a breath, then looked at Brother Jie, "It's not that I can't teach you."

Brother Jie's face darkened, "Looks like my analogy was wrong. Then I'll Deng Dua Lang a few more times, hopefully you'll learn the truth through practice."

Lu Wei was startled and quickly waved his hand, saying, "Wait—"

  "I know, Deng Dua Lang—"

  "Ah!"

  "I Deng Dua Lang—"

  "Ah~"

  "I Deng Dua Lang—"

  "Ah"

"Ah Wei! What's wrong with you?! Don't die!"

"Can these two idiots really compare to Tang San's Shrek Seven Devils in the future?" Yuan Ling'er looked at the two fools outside the window with a dark expression.

After all, the future Shrek Seven Devils would all be god-level powerhouses.

What kind of god could these two become?

  A god of magic?

"Forget it, right now only these two have any talent to speak of."

Yuan Ling'er flipped through the book in her hand, then slammed it shut and closed her eyes to begin cultivating.

She planned to try and reach level fifteen, and should be able to break through within the next half month.

  "Soul Possession!"

Lu Wei, unable to bear Jie Ge's humiliation any longer, began his path of resistance.

  "First Soul Skill, Entanglement!"

A reed rose from Lu Wei's hand, his hundred-year soul ring flashing, and a long reed 'whoosh—' wrapped itself around Jie Ge's body.

  "Soul Possession!"

Jie Ge's appearance transformed into a smiling pig, his irritating eyes fixed on Lu Wei, and he shouted, "If you've got the guts, let me get close!"

The "Soul Possession" skill requires a certain distance; it can only be activated when you're close,

  and very close indeed!

"Please, I'm a control-type Soul Master!" Lu Wei chuckled as he looked at Jie, who was now bound hand and foot.

Control-type Soul Masters are the most troublesome type of Soul Master,

whether in one-on-one duels or seven-on-seven duels.

  In Soul Master duels,

  offensive Soul Masters are generally responsible for the main damage output;

  defensive Soul Masters are tanks, responsible for drawing aggro;

  support Soul Masters are healers;

  and control-type Soul Masters

are the strategists, the souls of the group.

Of course, this isn't absolute; for example, Yuan Xunlu had beaten up several control-type Soul Masters.

The secret is to never let a control-type Soul Master's tactics succeed, to play by your own rhythm, regardless of the control-type Soul Master's tactics. No

matter how many paths they take, I'll go my own way.

And clearly, the chubby Jie hadn't realized this.

  "My turn, Jie!"

Lu Wei clenched his little fists as he looked at the bound Jie.

  "Ah!"

  "Ah~"

  "Ah!"

That day, Jie felt the fear of being dominated by Lu Wei.

  "Ta-da!"

A few knocks on the door interrupted Yuan Ling'er's cultivation.

Lu Wei knocked and called out, "Big Sister?"

  "What?"

Yuan Ling'er came out of the activity room, looking at the two clowns with an unfriendly expression.

"Brother Jie wants to get a spirit ring."

Lu Wei pointed sheepishly at Brother Jie, who was crying. Yuan Ling'er looked up and saw Brother Jie sitting on the ground with his hands covering his head. He was crying so hard that his

  face was streaked with tears.

  "Did you bully him?"

  "Yeah," Lu Wei smiled sheepishly.

He had hit him too hard earlier, and Brother Jie had accidentally cried. When

Brother Jie thought about how he would be beaten by this Ah Wei if he didn't have a spirit ring, he

  couldn't stop crying.

After all, they were still just six-year-old children.

  "What are you crying for!

Do you think your future opponents won't be stronger than you? You're only one spirit ring weaker than Lu Wei now, and you're already crying?

  What about later?

Others might have one more spirit ring than you!

Or one more spirit bone! They might

even surpass the limits of a spirit master! What can you do then?

  Cry?!"

Yuan Ling'er's sudden outburst startled A-Jie awake. A-Jie pitifully clung to A-Wei, hiding behind him.

"Wait a minute. After the holidays, I'll have my dad take you to get a spirit ring."

Yuan Ling'er knew the theory of giving a beating before offering a treat.

She smiled sweetly, as if her previous fierce demeanor was just everyone's illusion.

"Do you know Master Charles Robert's 'The Relationship Between Spirit Masters and Spirit Rings'?" Yuan Ling'er asked again.

The two good-for-nothing fools shook their heads.

"Remember to read it yourself. There's a theory in it that 'the bottleneck of a Soul Ring doesn't prevent a Soul Master's Soul Power from increasing; it just means they can't enter the next level without the guidance of a Soul Ring.'

The original text is in Chapter 2, Section 4, Article 4 of 'The Relationship Between Soul Masters and Soul Rings.

' In other words, if you cultivate diligently now, when you acquire a Soul Ring, you might directly become a level 12 or even 13 Soul Master."

"That's amazing!" Lu Wei exclaimed in surprise. "If I had known, I wouldn't have absorbed a Soul Ring. Going directly from level 10 to level 13 would be so awesome!" "

  ..." Yuan Ling'er.

"But, I need to go back to Notting City during my vacation," A-Jie said softly.

"Then hunt for Souls first, and then—what did you say!"

Yuan Ling'er stared at A-Jie, which made A-Jie shrink back towards Lu Wei.

"I need to go back to Notting City,"

  A-Jie repeated.

"But...isn't Notting City in the Heaven Dou Empire?" Yuan Ling'er thought of many things in an instant.

For example, A-Jie might be a spy sent by Tang San, since Tang San's primary Soul Master academy was also in Notting City.

Lu Wei, always quick to react and slow to realize things, slapped his thigh and

  exclaimed,

"That's right! Notting City is in the Heaven Dou Empire, how come you came to study in the Barak Kingdom?"

"My uncle is a minor official in Barak City, and my parents begged him to let me come here to study,"

A-Jie said, lowering his head, sounding somewhat like a dependent.

Yuan Ling'er already knew why A-Jie had come to the Barak Junior Soul Master Academy.

In terms of educational quality, the Barak Junior Soul Master Academy was, after all, government-funded, directly under the royal family, and far superior to the impoverished junior soul master academy in Notting City.

"That's perfect, I was just about to go to Notting City anyway. I won't go back during the holiday, let's go tomorrow,"

Yuan Ling'er smiled, making the decision. According to her memories from before her rebirth, Tang San was still studying in Notting City at this time, so going to see him would be like seeing a monkey.

  "Ah!"

  A-Jie's eyes widened.

"I believe my dad would be happy to go to Notting City too."

  Yuan Ling'er remembered that

  besides Tang San,

  that coward named Yu Xiaogang

  was also in Notting City.

  She wondered what her dad's expression would be when he saw Yu Xiaogang;

he'd probably be quite grateful to her,

  hehe.
