Chapter 1: The Beginning After the End
"Where… am I?"
This place is filled with bright light. Everything shines so much that I can't see anything clearly.
"What is this place…?" I whisper, confused.
Then I hear a voice echo inside my head.
> "How are you, boy?"
"What? I just heard… a voice? Where is it coming from?"
As I turn around, I see a figure standing before me — but I can't see his face. It's blurred, like mist.
That person speaks again.
> "You died."
"What!? Did you just say I'm going to die!?"
> "No," he replies calmly. "You already died — in your world."
"What do you mean… I died in my world? How? I just went shopping and then—"
I pause as memories rush back.
"Oh… I remember now. I was hit by a car on my way home."
My heart aches. "Then… what about my dad? Is he okay?"
> "Your father… well, I don't think he's doing well after hearing about your death."
"What?" My voice trembles.
> "Right now, your father is in shock."
Tears fill my eyes. "Damn it… damn it… damn it! I can't do anything for him. My mother died when I was born, and my dad took care of me all his life. And now… I'm dead. I've always been a burden to him… and now I can't even repay him."
I look up at the faceless man, tears streaming down my face. "Hey… what's going to happen to me now?"
> "You poor soul," the man says softly. "You're going to be reincarnated."
"What? What do you mean by that?"
> "Once every thousand years, one soul is randomly chosen for reincarnation. This time, that soul… is you."
"What? I was chosen?"
> "Yes. Out of millions of souls, yours was selected. You'll be reborn in another world. Now—tell me, which world do you want to go to?"
I blink in confusion. "You're saying… I can choose the world?"
> "Yes. Choose freely."
"Well… I'm an anime fan. So… I want to go to the world of My Hero Academia — the world of heroes and superpowers!"
> "Interesting. You have two wishes before you go. Choose wisely."
"Two wishes?" I think for a moment.
"My first wish is… that my father finds someone he can love."
> "What? You realize what you just said?"
"Yes. I know. My father deserves happiness."
> "…Very well. If you're sure, I'll grant that wish."
"Yes, I'm sure."
> "Alright then. Your father will meet someone he can love. Now, your second wish?"
"For my second wish… I want two powers."
> "Two powers? Go on."
"First, I want fire powers — like the No.2 Hero — but with no overheating effect. Maximum level power.
And second… teleportation, like Obito Uchiha's ability. I want to move my body or any part of it through dimensions."
> "Hmm… I can allow that, but with one limit: you can't teleport to any place you haven't been before."
"Okay, that's fine!"
> "Good. Everything is ready. I hope you live a good life in your next world."
As the light starts to fade, I hear him murmur one last thing.
> "You foolish human…"
"What!?"
Suddenly, everything turns dark.
"I can't see anything! Where… am I!?"
The faceless man smirks.
> "That foolish human actually wished for his father's happiness… Interesting. Let's see how he develops in this world."
A clever smile spreads across his unseen face.
> "After a thousand years, things are going to get interesting… Hahahaha!"

Meanwhile, in Haruto's original world…
Haruto's father, Hiroshi Shimizu, sits in silence, trying to hold back his tears after hearing the news.
A woman named Yuma Hoshizora walks up to him gently.
"I heard what happened… Are you okay, Senpai?"
He doesn't answer, his hands trembling.
"I know you're having a hard time right now," Yuma says softly. "But everything is going to be alright. I'm here for you, Shimizu-kun."
She hugs him tightly. For the first time since the tragedy, Hiroshi lets his tears fall.
> "Everything's going to be okay… everything…" she whispers.
