Chapter 248 - Chapter 247 I Heard You!

"So, this person is very likely the murderer in those three brutal killings?" Brandley's expression changed slightly, but he quickly frowned and said, "However, although the brutal killings were extremely heinous, but if the victims were ordinary people, it would at most be a Level 3 incident, how could it become a Level 4 incident?"

"Three years ago, a massacre occurred in Chaos City. A family of four was brutally murdered. The male head of the household was a deputy examiner for the knight test, a level four knight who had just been promoted to chief examiner that day. He returned home drunk after attending the celebration party, and the tragedy occurred. The female head of the household, along with her two children under the age of ten, were also brutally murdered. Only a black cross was left at the scene." Bazel clenched his fists, his face grim, and gritted his teeth as he looked at Gabriel's corpse. "Based on the black cross left at the scene and the method of murder, these two cases were combined and were committed by the same person."

"Ga… Gabriel… serial murder case…" Devo stared at Gabriel's corpse, fear enveloping him. No matter the outcome, he knew he would not escape unscathed. After running the tavern for so many years, his men were bound to have some shady dealings. If he was thoroughly investigated, he would likely spend the rest of his life in Basti Prison.

"This...how is this possible..." Goodinia was equally terrified, staggering back two steps, his steps unsteady. He had only come to get revenge and make Mai Ge and his daughter apologize., but now even a Level 4 incident had been brought up. Once they get involved in an incident of this level, they'll be severely injured, if not killed.

"Take the body back, keep it safe, and confirm its identity." Brandley's expression also became extremely solemn, and he looked at Devo and Goodinia with a cold gaze, saying, "Take the three of them back as well, lock them up in Basti Prison, interrogate them thoroughly, and see if it is a gang crime."

"Yes!" the patrol officers responded, and immediately took out ropes to tie up Devo, Goodinia, and Johnny.

"Lord Brandley, we are from the Censorate Office, and we have received a report of a Level 3 incident…" Just then, a six men squad from the Gray Temple rode up on horseback, each with a silver "Censorate" embroidered on their chest. The first man stepped forward and bowed to Brandley.

"You've come at the right time. Your Censorate is responsible for taking this body back and having the forensic doctor perform an autopsy immediately. This is a Level 4 criminal suspect." Brandley interrupted the man.

"Yes!" The man paused for a moment, but his expression turned solemn when his gaze fell on the black cross on Bazel's hand. He responded, and someone took a simple stretcher from the horse, covered the body with a white cloth, and escorted the body away.

"Injustice! Injustice! We are all law-abiding citizens! That black cross must belong to the restaurant owner. He framed us..." Devo was pulled to his feet, and with a start, he came to his senses and shouted at the top of his lungs.

Bazel walked over with a cold face, raised his knee and kicked him in the stomach. With a muffled thud, Devo clutched his stomach and slowly squatted down, his eyes wide open and mouth agape, tears streaming down his face, unable to speak from the pain.

"Bob, shut them up and then take them back." Bazel said coldly.

"Yes." The mage standing to the side quickly replied. This was the first time he had seen Bazel lose control of his emotions like this. He raised his magic wand and chanted two spells. Two moss-like green things were then smeared on the mouths of Devo and Goodinia. The others escorted the three away.

"Wu wu...." Goodinia struggled, turning back to look in the direction of the Restaurant Mai Mi. Looking at Mai Ge, who stood calmly at the restaurant entrance, he suddenly regretted provoking this terrifying man.

"Watch where you're going!" Monkey holding him delivered a silent elbow strike to his face, its expression equally cold.

"Monkey, why did the boss react so strongly today?" Bob asked Monkey, following behind, somewhat puzzled.

"That knight examiner is the boss's best friend. They had a second round of drinks the night the incident happened." Monkey's voice was a little low. He stopped and turned to look at Bob, who had his mouth agape, and warned, "Don't mention a word about this to the boss."

"Understood!" Bob nodded seriously and said nothing more.

"On behalf of the Gray Temple, I would like to express my gratitude to Boss Mai and Little Boss for your contributions in subduing the thug. Once it is confirmed that he is the serial killer, the Gray Temple will also send the bounties for both cases as a reward." Brandley turned to Mai Ge and said seriously.

"You're welcome...you're welcome." Mai Ge quickly waved his hand, a little bewildered by the sudden reversal. He had been thinking about how to extricate himself from this incident, but suddenly they had become heroes who had eliminated evil and were even getting a reward?

Moreover, after hearing what Bazel had said earlier, the little bit of unease in his heart completely disappeared. He was absolutely right to stab Gabriel in the throat with that chopstick. That was indeed a mad dog, a mad dog that had eaten people.

"Thank you. The four of them can rest in peace now." Bazel stepped forward, extended his hand to Mai Ge, and looked him sincerely into the eyes, saying, "I'm Bazel. If there's a chance, I hope to have a drink with you."

"I've recently given up drinking, but you're welcome to dine at my restaurant." Mai Ge extended his hand and shook it. Bazel seemed to know the family of four who had been murdered, but Mai Ge didn't ask any further questions.

"I told you Little Amy was right. She has eyes that can distinguish good from evil and knows how to use force." Crassus said with a smile, his words full of pride.

"If I was to teach her for a day, those two little ones would be dead in a single move." Yulian said, pursing his lips.

"Both of you are right, two great mages. The matter is urgent, and I must return to the Gray Temple to assist. Please forgive any inconvenience this may cause." Brandley said with a smile, then looked at Mai Ge and said, "Boss Mai, please give my thanks to the Little Boss…"

"I heard you! I don't know what you're thanking me for, but you're welcome." Amy's voice came from behind.

Mai Ge turned around and saw Amy with one arm around the Ugly Duckling and the other hand stuffing dried fish into her mouth. When she saw Mai Ge turn around, her little hand and expression froze, as if she had been caught doing something wrong. She slowly took the half-eaten dried fish out of her mouth and handed it to the Ugly Duckling, who looked aggrieved.

"Meow~!" The Ugly Duckling meowed at Mai Ge, sounding a little aggrieved.

"Praise Amy for defeating a big bad guy today, that was great." Mai Ge said with a smile. It seemed that letting the little one feed the cat by herself was still a bit unreliable.

"Really?" Amy's eyes lit up immediately.

"Yes, Little Boss is a little hero." Brandley nodded with a smile, gave Mai Ge a nod, and then followed Bazel into a carriage and left.

"It smells so good, Boss Mai. I haven't eaten yet. Why don't you make me a serving of the new dish to try?" Crassus said as he turned around naturally and walked into the restaurant.
