Chapter 5 - chapter five : another chock

Now it was Victoria's turn.

No one seemed to notice that at first—not her, and not even the examiner.

She was still lost in the joy of William's results, while the examiner himself remained under the shock caused by the young man standing before him.

But the moment he noticed the girl standing beside the device, he suddenly remembered his duty.

His hand trembled slightly as he reached for the small communication device attached to the collar of his black robe. He spoke quickly to someone on the other end—his tone revealing that the person he was addressing held a rank far above his own.

A few seconds later, the examiner turned toward Victoria and gestured for her to step forward, as if this had suddenly become something far more important than a normal test.

Only then did William snap out of his thoughts.

He stepped aside to give her space.

He watched her climb the same platform he had stood on just moments ago.

The traces of joy still lingered on her face…

but they slowly faded beneath a wave of anxiety creeping across her expression—visible in her trembling hands and tense eyes.

Before the test began…

Victoria stood before the strange machines, her heart pounding so violently she felt as though it might burst from her chest.

She stared at the dark metallic instruments that moved slowly, their mysterious lights flickering as if they were staring back at her.

Will I be able to achieve anything… even a fraction of what William did?

What if my results are disappointing? What if everyone ends up disappointed in me?

Memories rushed into her mind all at once.

Those nights when she collapsed on the couch, tears covering her face while weakness weighed heavily on her chest.

And then, without thinking, she would look toward her brother.

He would be there—calm, watching her with a confidence she had never seen in herself.

She swallowed.

I'm not weak… not anymore.

She closed her eyes for a moment, gathering herself.

Then she slowly raised her head.

Yes, she was afraid…

but within that fear, a small spark of courage had begun to grow.

And with her first step toward the device, it felt as if the entire world was holding its breath with her.

The Test Begins

William focused on her again, his heart beating rapidly.

Was it fear?

Expectation?

A strange mixture of both.

The test began.

For the two of them, the seconds passed painfully slowly.

But for everyone else, it lasted only a few brief moments.

Then…

the results appeared.

Soul Power: Purple

Marrow Grade: Superior

Willpower: 370

The silence that followed was not normal.

It was the silence of shock.

A rare silence.

A silence filled with amazement, admiration… and envy.

Only seconds later, whispers began spreading among the crowd.

"Those two siblings are incredibly talented! Their parents must be extremely proud!"

"I've never seen results like that in my life… I truly envy them."

While the voices clashed around them, the examiner remained frozen in place.

It was as if his body had been turned to stone by what he was witnessing.

His gaze shifted repeatedly between the three screens before him and Victoria herself, as though trying to confirm that this was not some kind of illusion.

The rarity of purple soul power alone was enough to cause a stir.

It appeared only once among roughly one hundred thousand people.

As for a superior marrow grade, while it was more common, it was still rare and highly sought after.

And willpower…

Ordinary humans usually scored around sixty.

Reaching one hundred was already considered rare.

But 370?

That number existed far beyond normal limits.

William looked at his sister.

At the girl he had once seen collapse in tears on the couch of their home.

And now…

she stood before the world

as a talent no sect could possibly ignore.

Victoria stared at the results in disbelief.

Then at her brother.

Then at the examiner.

As if she couldn't decide whether she should smile…

or be afraid.

And as the crowd continued to stare at them,

both of them felt as though the entire universe had suddenly changed.
