Her tone was almost begging.
Her hand gripped his shirt, her head leaning in closer to him. He could not see her face from this angle, but the vulnerability in her voice felt real.
It made it difficult for him to tell if this was just another one of her manipulative states or if she was being genuine.
But still, Elion also kept up his act. He chuckled under his breath. "That was never my intention."
"Good." Her fingers tightened in his shirt. "Then you are staying with me all night today."
She shifted within his arms, moving slowly, until she was facing him fully.
Mira tilted her chin up, her lashes fluttering and lowering as her eyes slid shut.
Her lips pursed ever so slightly, not exaggerated, and not playful this time. Just… expectant.
