Chapter 114 - Chapter 114: The Voice That Shouldn’t Exist

"…Phoenix…"

The word echoed across the shattered battlefield.

Not loud.

Not forced.

But absolute.

It didn't feel like sound.

It felt like something pressing directly into the soul.

Lyra's body locked.

Her flames flickered violently around her, no longer calm, no longer stable—reacting instinctively to something far beyond simple danger.

Because that voice—

It wasn't unfamiliar.

It was wrong.

The creature stood before them, fully formed now, its dark armored body pulsing with corrupted aether. Its eyes—glowing with that same haunting purple—remained fixed on Lyra alone.

"…you shouldn't exist."

Silence followed.

Heavy.

Crushing.

And then—

The sky above the Fairy Academy fractured again.

---

"Everyone—hold formation!" Kael's voice cut through the tension, though even he couldn't hide the strain beneath it.

Kai and Zane shifted slightly forward again, blades raised—but this time, their stance wasn't aggressive.

It was cautious.

"…That thing just talked," Kai muttered.

"And not like a mindless construct," Zane added.

Emma reinforced her barriers, layering them thicker than before. "I don't like this… I really don't like this…"

Mia stayed close behind her, hands glowing, ready. "Everyone stay within range—I can't reach you if you scatter!"

Serena nodded, eyes locked on the creature. "We need to understand what we're dealing with first."

Rafael exhaled sharply. "Yeah, well, I vote we destroy it first and ask questions later."

"Not yet," Nero said immediately.

His gaze was sharp.

Focused.

"…It's observing us."

Sofia crossed her arms slightly, analyzing every movement. "…No. It's not observing us."

Her eyes shifted toward Lyra.

"…It's observing her."

All attention returned to Lyra.

Because she still hadn't moved.

And Orion felt it.

"…Lyra."

---

That voice…

Lyra's thoughts spiraled again—but differently this time.

Not pure fear.

Recognition.

Confusion.

Something deeper.

Why does it sound like…

Her heart pounded harder.

Why does it feel like it knows me…?

The creature took a step forward.

Not aggressive.

Measured.

Intentional.

"…your flame…"

It spoke again.

"…it's incomplete."

Lyra's breath caught.

Incomplete?

Her hands trembled.

The Phoenix Flame surged—reacting violently to those words.

Incomplete…?

A memory surfaced—

Not of battle.

Not of Nyx.

Something older.

Something buried deep within her very existence.

A voice—

Not dark.

Not cruel.

Ancient.

"…the flame is not whole…"

Lyra's eyes widened.

"…Lyra!"

Orion's voice pulled her back.

She turned toward him slightly.

"…it's… talking about my power…"

Her voice shook—not from fear alone now.

From realization.

"I don't think…"

Her throat tightened.

"…I don't think it's wrong."

Silence.

Even the battlefield seemed to freeze.

Orion's expression hardened.

"…Explain."

Lyra swallowed.

"…my flame… it's growing too fast… evolving too fast…"

Her eyes flickered.

"…what if it's because something is missing?"

---

The creature tilted its head slightly.

"…you feel it."

Lyra's eyes snapped back toward it.

"…yes…"

Her voice was quieter now.

But clearer.

"…you're not complete."

The Phoenix Flame surged again—

But this time—

Lyra didn't resist it.

She focused.

Not on suppressing.

Not on controlling.

But on understanding.

Her aura shifted.

Not stronger.

But deeper.

Layers of golden fire began to condense more tightly around her, forming a more refined, more structured flow.

Orion noticed immediately.

"…she's stabilizing again."

"No," Nero corrected.

"…she's adapting."

Lyra took a step forward.

"…what are you?"

The creature's gaze sharpened.

"…I am what remains."

A pause.

"…of what should have been erased."

A chill ran through everyone.

Even Kael's grip tightened.

"…a remnant…" Sofia whispered.

Lyra's breath slowed.

"…of Nyx?"

The creature smiled faintly.

"…no."

A beat.

"…something older."

---

Phase 1 — Opening Clash

Without warning—

The creature moved.

Faster than before.

It vanished—

Then appeared directly in front of Lyra.

"LYRA!" Orion shouted.

Too late.

Its hand shot forward—

Lyra reacted instantly—

"Phoenix Guard!"

A burst of golden fire formed—

CLASH—

The impact sent shockwaves through the entire battlefield.

The ground beneath Lyra cracked—

But she didn't fall.

"…good," the creature murmured.

Phase 2 — Reaction / Adaptation

Orion moved instantly.

Aether surged around him as he struck from the side—

The creature blocked effortlessly.

Zane and Kai followed—

Coordinated—

Precise—

But every strike—

Was deflected.

"…it's reading us," Kai growled.

"Then overwhelm it!" Rafael fired a massive blast—

The explosion hit—

Smoke filled the air—

But—

It stepped out.

Unharmed.

Phase 3 — Escalation

The creature raised its hand—

Dark aether condensed—

Denser than before.

"Fall back!" Kael ordered.

Too late.

BOOOOOM—

A massive shockwave erupted.

Emma's barriers shattered instantly.

Serena reinforced—

Barely holding.

Mia struggled to keep everyone stabilized.

"…we can't take many more hits like that!" she shouted.

Phase 4 — Turning Point

Lyra stepped forward again.

Not reckless.

Not emotional.

Focused.

"…you said I'm incomplete."

The creature paused.

"…yes."

Her flames intensified—

But stayed controlled.

"…then show me."

Silence.

The battlefield held its breath.

"…show me what I'm missing."

The creature's eyes narrowed.

Then—

For the first time—

It raised both hands.

"…then survive."

Phase 5 — Result Shift

Darkness exploded outward.

Not an attack.

A domain.

The entire battlefield was swallowed—

Light dimmed.

Aether twisted.

Reality itself seemed to bend.

"…what is this…" Emma whispered.

"…a field…" Nero said quietly.

"…no…"

Lyra's eyes widened.

"…a memory."

---

"Everyone stay together!" Kael commanded.

But the environment had already changed.

The Fairy Academy—

Was gone.

Replaced.

By something else.

Something ancient.

"…this isn't real…" Sofia muttered, scanning everything.

"…but it feels real," Kai added.

Serena looked around, uneasy. "Lyra… what is this?"

Lyra didn't answer.

Because she recognized it.

"…I've seen this before…"

Orion stepped beside her immediately.

"…where?"

Her voice trembled slightly.

"…in my dreams."

Silence.

Nero's expression darkened.

"…then this isn't just an attack."

"…it's trying to show you something."

---

The battlefield stabilized—

But not back to normal.

They stood in a ruined world.

Burned.

Destroyed.

The sky—

Cracked.

Flames—

Everywhere.

Golden.

And black.

Lyra's breath stopped.

"…this place…"

Her hands trembled again.

"…this is…"

The creature's voice echoed once more.

"…your origin."

Shock rippled through the team.

Orion's eyes widened.

"…Lyra…?"

Her voice barely escaped.

"…no…"

"…this is Ignis."

Silence.

Heavy.

Unavoidable.

"…but…"

Her eyes trembled.

"…why is it showing this…?"

The creature stepped forward—

Its presence overwhelming even here.

"…because you were never meant to survive it."

---

The flames around them shifted.

Golden fire—

Turned black.

Lyra's breath caught violently.

"…no…"

Her body froze again.

Because in the distance—

A figure appeared.

Standing within the burning ruins.

Tall.

Wrapped in darkness.

A presence she knew—

More than anything else.

Her voice broke.

"…Nyx…"

Orion's heart dropped.

"…this is bad…"

The creature's voice whispered—

Right beside Lyra's ear.

"…this…"

A pause.

"…is what you forgot."

The distant figure—

Slowly turned.

And the moment its eyes met Lyra's—

The entire world—

Collapsed inward.

"…and this…"

The creature continued softly—

"…is what's coming back."

Lyra's flames—

Exploded uncontrollably.

And this time—

She couldn't stop it.
