Chapter 140 - Chapter 138: The Knight’s Demeanor

The fifth floor of the school building.

Since this was the only floor being used in this school building, it appeared much cleaner and tidier than the other floors.

There were three classrooms on the fifth floor. Except for the chemistry lab door being securely locked, the doors of the other two classrooms were left open.

The lights inside the classrooms were off, and the desks and chairs were neatly arranged, showing no signs of activity, which made it all the more eerie.

Classrooms no one had entered, yet their doors were open. If one classroom door was forgotten, what about the second one?

Amane walked into one of the classrooms and flicked the light switch.

As the switch was pressed, the entire room remained pitch black.

Amane guessed that the circuit breaker had probably been turned off.

Who would go to such lengths to prank her?

Amane pondered all the suspicious individuals in her mind, but none fit the criteria.

The reason she confirmed it was a prank was that she had just seen traces of a wire harness on Kiryuin's waist.

Recalling the strange sounds she heard earlier, someone had probably installed a pulley system on the rooftop, attempting to use the dark environment to conceal the use of the wire harness.

If Amane remembered correctly, this equipment was terrifyingly expensive, and essentially a one-time tool, with not many opportunities to use it again.

Who would be so idle as to spend such a large sum just to play a prank game with her?

The best answer right now was to go directly to the rooftop, and then all the mysteries would be revealed.

But Amane didn't want it to end so quickly.

Amane walked towards the storage cabinet at the back of the classroom.

After glancing at the storage cabinet, she, being observant, saw a piece of paper on a nearby desk.

"No violence allowed? Eh? The person who wrote this really loves to joke."

It seemed the other party planned to play a guessing game with her on the fifth floor.

How boring.

Amane tore the note into pieces. Just as she was about to throw it into the trash can, Amane suddenly turned and walked to the storage cabinet.

She jammed the shredded paper strips into the ventilation slot above the storage cabinet.

Then she picked up a lock nearby and locked the cabinet.

"That looks better."

Then came the sound of footsteps receding and the classroom door closing heavily.

Silence returned to the classroom.

After a long time, heavy breathing began to emanate from inside the storage cabinet.

Morishige Takurou was originally just dragged along to be a bystander.

After leaving the rule note, he could leave and meet up with his other companions.

But what he didn't expect was that Amane came too quickly. In his haste, Morishige could only hide in the storage cabinet.

Just now, when Amane walked in front of the storage cabinet, he even felt that he had been seen through… No! She must have seen through him!

The ventilation slot of the storage cabinet faced outwards. Once blocked, there was no way to get fresh air from inside.

And whether Amane did it intentionally or not, she deliberately placed the paper strip on top. If tape was used, he would have no chance of escape.

But if it was a paper strip, he just needed to blow hard, and the strip would fall.

However, this faced the risk of exposure.

Morishige could only endure it bitterly.

As soon as he finally heard the door close, Morishige eagerly blew off the paper strip, then pressed his entire face against the ventilation slot, desperately breathing in fresh air.

Just then, he suddenly heard a creaking sound from behind the cabinet.

It sounded like a knife scratching glass.

In the dead of night in the quiet classroom, locked alone in a storage cabinet, he suddenly heard strange noises.

"Who! Who's there! Is, is that Miyako-san, right? I was just kidding…"

Sakayanagi had previously instructed them to surrender immediately if the prank failed.

That way, they wouldn't get beaten.

Morishige's panicked voice sounded particularly harsh in the empty classroom.

But no one responded to him.

Suddenly!!

The scratching sound from behind the storage cabinet began to intensify.

The scratching sound, right next to his ear, scared Morishige so much that he forcefully banged on the cabinet body.

"Help, help!!! Someone help me!!!"

Morishige's voice reached the laboratory on the other side.

The two people also hiding in a cabinet exchanged glances.

Then they took out their phones and squatted down, making sure the light wouldn't be discovered.

Even though they were so close, they still had to communicate in this way.

"It seems Morishige has been discovered. Should we go help?"

"Then what about over here? We just finished setting up."

Kitou frowned, things were going beyond the plan.

According to Sakayanagi's estimation, after Amane checked the nearby classroom and found clues, she would definitely come here to examine valuable items.

At this time, the small props that Kitou and Hashimoto were responsible for placing would play a certain role.

Although both of them expressed doubts about the effectiveness of the props.

But since Sakayanagi insisted on playing this way, they couldn't do anything about it.

In desperation, Kitou could only send a message to Sakayanagi.

Sakayanagi felt a little uneasy after receiving the message.

She couldn't predict what had happened to Morishige.

His screams were clearly audible even on the balcony.

It was evident that some accident had occurred.

"Why don't we just confess? Anyway, I don't think Amane was scared."

Kiryuin had a hint of wanting to retreat.

Now her skirt felt a bit cool, and she just wanted to end this boring game quickly.

"No, I haven't lost yet. Since there's a problem with Morishige, doesn't that mean Amane intends to accept our prank?"

Sakayanagi narrowed her eyes.

She knew Amane had seen through that someone wanted to play a game with her.

Otherwise, given Amane's personality and ability, going straight to the balcony wouldn't be an impossible feat.

Morishige had shouted himself hoarse, but no one came to rescue him.

Somewhat despairing, Morishige suddenly heard the scratching sound behind him begin to disappear.

Morishige's heart, which had been hanging, finally eased a little.

But just then, a click-clack sound, like leather shoes walking, came from inside the classroom.

Morishige curiously peered out through the ventilation slot, but the classroom was still dark and empty.

"Ah!!!!!!"

A sharp female scream suddenly rang in his ears.

Morishige directly slammed his head against the ventilation slot.

He ignored the pain and quickly squatted in the corner of the storage cabinet.

Then he frantically pulled out his phone from his body.

"Hello?"

"Help me! I'm… I'm…"

Morishige tried his best to explain the strange things he was encountering, things beyond his comprehension.

But the more nervous he got, the more he couldn't speak.

He could only make gurgling sounds from his throat.

Sakayanagi on the other end of the phone immediately realized the seriousness of the situation.

"Don't worry, speak slowly. There's nothing to be afraid of. You must remain calm, understand?"

Morishige was in such a state; it seemed he had been severely startled. If Sakayanagi didn't comfort him soon, she feared he might have a heart attack.

"It, it's like this…"

Creak, creak.

The scratching sound started again from behind the storage cabinet.

It was spine-chilling to hear.

This time it was also a bit different from before; the sound even started coming from the top of the cabinet.

Accompanied by faint thumping sounds, like a child jumping and stomping on the top of the cabinet.

It made Morishige, a male, so scared that he could only curl up inside the cabinet at this moment.

"I met Miyako-san, she, she seemed to have found me, but she locked me in the cabinet and left. But now, something eerie is happening!!! There's nothing in the classroom, yet I hear someone walking around, and my cabinet, the cabinet is being scratched by something, and there's a monster jumping on top of the cabinet!!! I… I, come save me!"

Morishige roared loudly.

Sakayanagi moved her phone a little further away. Listening to the fantastical claims on the phone, Sakayanagi was also a bit dumbfounded.

"It must be Amane playing tricks. You tell her the game is over…"

"Ah!!!!!!"

Another ear-piercing scream.

Morishige, caught off guard, was so scared that he fainted.

Sakayanagi's face on the other end of the phone turned pale.

That sound just now almost sent her away too.

"Morishige? Are you still conscious? Morishige?"

After Sakayanagi called out several times without a response, the other end of the phone suddenly fell into a deathly silence.

Sakayanagi silently hung up the phone.

"Something doesn't seem right..."

Sakayanagi recalled the scream just now, feeling that it didn't sound like something a high-and-mighty young lady like Amane would make.

"What do we do now? If we really run into something, we're on the rooftop, there's no way we can escape."

Kiryuin said, while stretching her limbs.

However, a chill under her skirt made Kiryuin quickly reach down to hold her skirt.

"Let Kitou and Hashimoto go check."

Sakayanagi said, then immediately dialed Kitou's number.

Kitou had heard the sound from next door just now, and even he, who feared nothing, felt a little intimidated at this moment.

However, he glanced at Hashimoto behind him; with two people, he felt a bit bolder.

The two of them, using flashlights, arrived at the laboratory next door.

The main door was tightly locked, but through the window, they could clearly see the locker overturned on the ground.

However, there was no sign of Amane or Morishige.

This discovery made Kitou swallow hard several times.

If he really encountered something supernatural, none of the techniques he had learned would be of any use.

"Hashimoto."

Kitou gave Hashimoto a look.

Hashimoto gritted his teeth and stepped forward to open the door.

Clearly, Kitou intended to use Hashimoto as a scout.

No matter how scared Hashimoto was, he showed no intention of refusing. He knew very well that Kitou's physical abilities far surpassed his. If there was any accident, as long as Kitou had time to react, he might be able to turn the tide.

Conversely, if Kitou walked in front and was attacked, Hashimoto behind him would have no chance of escaping unscathed.

It was precisely because he realized this that Hashimoto willingly served as bait.

The door opened.

Nothing happened.

Hashimoto cautiously stepped inside.

"It looks like nothing..."

Before Hashimoto could finish his sentence, he collapsed to the ground.

Kitou immediately bit off his glove with his teeth and assumed an attacking stance.

A white-haired girl slowly emerged from behind the door.

"I knew someone was playing tricks. We were just joking around, and although there might have been some fault, we shouldn't be treated this way. Since you've laid hands on my companion, you should know what price you have to pay..."

Before Kitou could finish speaking, Amane slowly lay on the ground, body facing up, but her limbs supported her in a bizarre way.

The terrifying memories in his mind instantly made this martial artist somewhat at a loss.

Just then.

Amane's head twisted at a strange angle.

"Ah!!!!!!!!!!"

A piercing scream rang out again.

Kitou turned and ran without hesitation.

But what he didn't expect was that Amane was moving rapidly on the ground, using all four limbs.

This was the first time he had encountered such a terrifying thing.

Without thinking much, Kitou ran directly towards the rooftop.

Sakayanagi and Kiryuin both heard Kitou's urgent sounds in the hallway.

"G-There's a monster!!!"

Kitou stumbled and crawled out of the door.

He directly fell in front of Sakayanagi.

Seeing her most capable subordinate so terrified, Sakayanagi felt a little fearful.

Could it really be that she encountered... Amane, who was lying on the ground, slowly crawled out of the door leading to the rooftop.

Kiryuin fainted directly upon seeing Amane like that.

Kitou stood up, wanting to resist, but he didn't know where to start. Finally, he gritted his teeth, closed his eyes, and swiftly threw a punch based on instinct.

Kitou Hayato's punch had immense destructive power.

The piercing sound of air being torn made Amane somewhat wary, and she could only roll over to dodge Kitou Hayato's full-force blow.

Then, before Kitou Hayato could react,

She delivered a chop to the back of his neck.

"Eh? Not knocked out? One more chop."

Seeing that Kitou wasn't knocked out, Amane couldn't help but inwardly praise him as a brave warrior, then delivered another chop.

But whether Kitou was too nervous or something else,

Neither of the two hand chops managed to knock him out.

Amane bent down and picked up a broom nearby.

With a loud thud, she completely knocked out Kitou Hayato with a single strike.

At this point, only Amane and Sakayanagi remained standing.

"Oh? Arisu?!"

After recognizing the other's identity, Amane ran over excitedly, directly tackling Sakayanagi to the ground and affectionately rubbing against Sakayanagi's face.

"You idiot, get off me!"

Sakayanagi angrily pounded Amane with her small fists.

But it clearly had no effect.

"Seriously, you came without even saying hello beforehand. Come on, give me a kiss~"

"Wait! That's not allowed, I'm still a vir... vir..."

Amane licked her lips, looking at Sakayanagi Arisu, who was covering her mouth, with a half-smile.

Sakayanagi then realized that Amane was doing it on purpose!!!

"Amane, you idiot! Didn't I tell you it was my first kiss? What are you doing?"

Even with Sakayanagi's refined upbringing, she broke down instantly.

She had painstakingly preserved her purity for over a decade, only for Amane to take her first kiss.

"What happened?"

Kiryuin rubbed her head and slowly sat up from the ground.

Then her face turned crimson.

Sakayanagi's white slip dress's strap had slipped off her shoulder at some point, revealing her fair shoulder.

One could vaguely see the unspeakable things that were just peeking out.

Most importantly... Amane had shown her some 'riding' skills.

However, Sakayanagi didn't seem very happy about it.

So... what exactly happened while she was unconscious?
