It was yet another day, but this time, with a determined mind, waking up to the fact that I would finally be accepted after my second time of trying out for Stellar Academy. I got to the school environment one hour to when the try out was going to start, I quickly got down from the car and waved my mum and brother; Derek who was looking at me with a sorry face. I quietly surveyed the school which was massively huge with bricks of different shades of brown and surrounded with nothing but trees and sit outs. I quickly took in a deep breath and walked into the school building where other candidates were waiting. I looked around and took a sit next to a boy who was all sweaty due to being nervous. Ten minutes had already gone before the admission process started; suddenly a tall dark man walked out of the office we were waiting to go in and informed us that we should get prepared. While he walked away, I couldn't care less about the worn out suit he was putting on but the way he walked away with pride knowing fully well that his suit was the center of attention spoke a lot. We had just started as some students were being called into the office, though the admission process was going slow but when it got to my turn, I looked at the boy by my side who was giving me a sign of encouragement even though he didn't believe in himself. As I stepped into the office, I was welcomed with the fragrance of a citrus air freshener, I quickly took my sit while the two teachers; Mister Andrew and Miss Julian who looked very young, though they weren't married yet and a middle age woman; Mrs. Mariam who sat in their midst glancing through my papers like it was some sort of job interview. As one of the young teachers who by name was Mister Andrew, quickly stood up and left the room with some papers only to come back with nothing. The questions being asked were nothing hard they were all easy going especially Miss Julian. But when it got to physical assessment, Mrs. Mariam conducted it, but the way she looked at me at every task made me shiver and that was when I knew I had failed. As I walked out to look at the scores that had been posted on the schools billboard, I sighed as I walked out holding my books and a pen while staring at the lucky students with wide smile on their faces who got in, I felt a mixture of envy and sadness at the same time though I felt like crying but I held my book to my chest and looked at the ground while walking out. The moment I got to the gate from which I could see my mum waving at me from the parking lot and there I let it all out and cried into my mums bosom, she patted me without saying anything but later said, "you are better off without this school, they are not good enough for you" she said while I stared at her as she wiped my tears. As we entered the car to go back, I shrieked because I didn't know Derek was inside all along, then he laughed and was like "Good Afternoon Sis" before I could respond, he looked at me and started mimicking me "oh mom, I think am going to die, the school didn't accept me" he said, but as soon as he finished, mom dragged his ears and scolded him saying "now is not the time give her some respect young man. Now apologize!" she said with a stern gaze directed towards Derek who looked at me with the face of someone who was about to cry and said "I am sorry Nancy", after that he quickly buried his face into his school bag because he had just gotten back from school when mum took him to take me from school.
