But it was enough.
Moon threw himself onto Mirage's back in one motion and Mirage was already moving before Moon's weight had fully settled.
The turtle's eyes snapped open after the flash bang. It roared, the sound shaking the dust off in the vicinity. Then, it swung one of its massive legs at the retreating horse.
The blow caught Mirage across the flank. The horse's legs buckled and he was thrown sideways, Moon still clinging to his back. They hit the ground together and rolled, dirt and blood mixing in the ground beneath them.
Mirage lay on his side, his legs twitching, a pained neigh escaping his throat. The wound on his flank was deep and bleeding heavily.
Moon pressed both hands against the horse's side. He cast [Minor Mend] first, feeling the torn muscle start to knit beneath his palms, then followed with [Purify] to provide extra healing. The combination would speed things up, but Mirage still needed time.
Time they didn't have.
