hen he tried to assimilate the fire into the arrow, the fire slid off the surface and formed its usual outer layer.
His brows tightened as he concentrated deeper, focusing on threading the fire through the arrow rather than simply coating it.
The fire pushed against the arrow.
Some particles began to interact with the shaft. But most of them refused to fully assimilate. The arrow held a partial state. Mostly coated and with very little assimilation, this rendered it unstable and difficult to control.
He released.
The arrow flew unevenly. The partial assimilation caused the shaft to spin off-axis. The power bled off during flight. The impact was significantly weaker than his coated shots had been, and the arrow struck the outer ring of the target rather than the center.
By all standards, it was a failed attempt. Still, the failure did not stop Moon from trying once again.
