Chapter 4 - Chapter 4: A Natural Swordsman's Aura, a Spirited Young Man

Ye Xuan glanced at them, then at his own blue and white robe. He suddenly realized his attire was actually quite "low-key." At least, Wang Quan Ba Ye's youthful clothing looked almost identical to ancient costume; anyone unfamiliar with Wang Quan Ba Ye wouldn't be able to tell the difference.

Shaking his head, Ye Xuan stepped into the school gate. His robe billowed slightly with each step, and the Wang Quan sword at his waist gleamed with a subtle golden pattern in the morning light.

Indeed, Ye Xuan's attire was "low-key" compared to the other students, but he forgot that his innate swordsman's aura, fused with the Wang Quan Ba Ye template, made him the most eye-catching presence among the many deliberately dressed "cosplayers."

As he walked into the school gate, two girls arguing about the "Demon Slayer" breathing technique suddenly fell silent when they caught sight of him out of the corner of their eye, their Nichirin Blade-shaped parasols clattering to the ground. A boy posing with Vanessa's Windhawk sword from Genshin Impact nearby trembled, nearly shattering the glass bead on the hilt.

Even the headmaster himself subconsciously raised his blindfold slightly, his gaze towards Ye Xuan somewhat bewildered.

Was this a student from their school? Was he sure it wasn't a character from some anime invading reality?

His appearance, his demeanor, his posture—it didn't seem like acting at all.

"Which anime is this character from? I don't think I've ever seen him before,"

  someone muttered quietly.

"Damn, how can he be so handsome?"

"I used to think that so-called charisma was all hype, but now, looking at this guy, even without a sword at his waist, I'd instinctively think he's a swordsman."

"Wait a minute, I see it, there's writing on his sword hilt, it looks like 'Wang Quan'."

"Wang Quan? Could it be from 'Fox Spirit Matchmaker'?"

"So, is his outfit 'Wang Quan Fu Gui'? Or 'Wang Quan Ba Ye'?"

"Wang Quan Fu Gui probably isn't it, it looks a bit like a younger version of Wang Quan Ba Ye, from when he first met Dongfang Huaizhu."

"The seventh day of the seventh month, the bamboo pavilion by the Huai River,"

someone murmured, their tone tinged with melancholy, as if recalling something sad.

"The Bamboo Leaf arc is a bit heartbreaking."

"I still can't bear to watch it a second time."

  "Who says it isn't?"

The boy next to him sighed as well.

"When I watched the Wangquan arc before, I only thought Wangquan Fugui's father was a scoundrel, but after watching the Zhuye arc, I understood the old man's difficulties."

"At the beginning, he was also a spirited young man."

They couldn't help but feel a little regretful as they talked.

After all, they were high school students, the age when they love watching anime, and Fox Spirit Matchmaker is one of the top Chinese animations, so they had naturally watched it. But it was precisely because they had watched it that they felt this way. The

story of lovers briefly together only to be separated by death—such a story, for those who yearn for love but have never experienced it, has a profound impact on them.

With Ye Xuan's senses at this moment, he could certainly hear the deliberately hushed yet incredibly clear whispers of the students around him, but he didn't care.

Just like the notes given by the system before merging with the Wangquan Baye template, he only obtained all of Wangquan Baye's talents and abilities, without merging his memories, personality, and emotions.

To him, Dongfang Huaizhu was just another anime character he liked; there was no reason for him to be moved by hearing a story he had already read.

He walked past the fountain at the entrance of the teaching building when a muffled "thump" came from behind him. A girl holding a bird-head summoning staff from Cardcaptor Sakura tripped and fell flat on her face. Her phone arced through the air, about to fall straight into the fountain.

  "Careful."

He scooped it up with his hand, the tip of his Wangquan sword sheath lightly touching the water's surface. The falling phone defied the laws of physics, floating back up and landing steadily on the girl's head, who was now lying on the ground.

  "Splash."

"Ouch, that hurts! Does it not hurt?"

The whole movement was fluid and seamless, without even wetting the hem of his clothes. It would have been perfect if it weren't for the girl's exclamation as she rubbed her head, thinking it hurt, only to find it didn't.

  "Thank you."

The girl stood up. Although it felt a little strange that her phone had fallen on her head, it was definitely a good thing that it hadn't fallen into the water, so she still thanked him.

  "You're welcome."

Ye Xuan's tone was calm, but his gaze lingered on her head for a moment—hmm, no redness, he had controlled his strength well.

He had indeed done it on purpose. For him, who had merged with the template of Wang Quan Ba Ye, controlling his own strength was a very basic thing, and he wouldn't lose control of the force in his hand.

As for why he chose her head, he just felt that it wouldn't be good if other parts of the girl's body were hit.

After all, everyone seems to have some particularly sensitive parts that tremble like being electrocuted when touched. He himself didn't feel anything, but some people around him were like that. He didn't know much about girls, but if the spot hit happened to be a sensitive part of her body, it would probably have some impact.

So he chose the head, thinking that no one's head would be sensitive.

And because the human head is relatively fragile, he deliberately controlled his strength, which is why the other person didn't feel pain.

As it turned out, he did a good job.

Ye Xuan thought to himself, and then continued walking forward. The girl seemed to want to say something, but seeing that Ye Xuan had already left, she quickly called out:

  "Wait!"

  "Which class are you in?"

  "Senior year."

Ye Xuan answered without turning his head.

"My name is Lin Xue! Senior year (5) class!"

"I'll treat you to milk tea next time!"

  the girl called from behind.

Ye Xuan did not respond, but just raised his hand and waved.

Not far away, several girls who had witnessed the whole thing were excitedly grabbing each other's arms: "So cool! Even saving someone was done with that cool attitude!"

"It's just a little different from what I expected. How could the phone land on his head? It should have landed on his back."

"What do you know! That's called contrast! It's more interesting if it landed on his head. Besides, what's the difference between landing on his back and landing on his head? They're both on his body."

"Hey, something seems off. Didn't you guys notice? That boy didn't seem to say which class he was in, he only said he was a senior."

"That's normal. Seniors are the students teachers pay close attention to now. What if he told her which class he was in, and she came looking for him? The teacher would definitely warn them."

"He obviously considered that, worried the girl would get scolded by the teacher, that's why he didn't tell her. He's so considerate."

  "..."

Ye Xuan listened to the voices around him, his lips twitching slightly.

  Are you doing reading comprehension?

And even if you are doing reading comprehension, when you hear him say he's a senior, shouldn't you think it's indirectly telling her not to develop feelings for him?

Worried the girl would get scolded by the teacher? Which idol drama did you get this inspiration from? Seriously, idol dramas are even using plots like this now?

Aren't you sure you won't get accused of being delusional?

He only saved a phone, not a life.
