Sophie's Vigil
The woods were silent, cloaked in moonlight and dread.
Sophie crouched low, her breath steady, her eyes scanning the shadows. The militia moved like ghosts extra discreet after the chaos at the demon war camp.
Blaze gathered them beneath the trees.
"The intel from the demon prince gave us a clue. We're one step closer to Edwin."
Ice whispered, "New Heaven… I've never heard of that city."
Blaze nodded. "None of us have. Is it a victim of the war? Or like Perfect City—untouched?".
Sophie's thoughts swirled. Are they safe? Or just unaware of what's coming?
Then Blaze added, "The demon prince is heading to Perfect City. Reinforcements are already stationed outside." "we have a right to warn and protect those people who might not accept us as we are strays."
Ace spoke up. "Remember Captain, Light's rumored about six months ago. He called Perfect City a refuge for survivors."
Blaze nodded slowly. "Right. But why is it a refuge? And why haven't the demons attacked?"
Eve stepped forward.
"There are seven demon princes. Each commands legions—hundreds, thousands, maybe millions. They choose when to fight."
Ice frowned. "What do you mean?"
"Each prince rules their own kingdom. They're united… but only for a while. Demons crave violence. What happens when they don't get their way?"
Ice nodded. "So they're not truly loyal to each other."
Eve shrugged. "It's just a theory. But it fits."
Ice leaned in. "Can we trust it?"
"Maybe not. But it's something."
Blaze's voice cut through the night.
"That's all we need—for the spark."
Everyone felt it. In their bones. In their breath.
The moment was here.
Blaze looked out toward the distant lights of Perfect City.
"We move. Now."
