Chapter 215 - CHAPTER 72 Vishrayan Prophecy

CHAPTER 72 Vishrayan Prophecy and the Bitter Sip of Destiny

The night of Prakashgadh had taken a new form today. This was no ordinary darkness that gets decorated by moonlight. It was a dense, heavy blackness that was swallowing every stone of the palace. The winds coming through the windows were no longer just cold. They were rising from the ground, carrying the stench of rotting leaves and distant burning coals. When the gusts of wind hit the walls, they left a sobbing sound, as if some invisible creature was wailing in the silence of the night.

Lamps were burning in Nirag chamber, but their flames were strange. Blue and greenish, not rising upward but swaying sideways, as if being pulled by invisible hands. The light created crooked shadows on the walls of the chamber, which seemed to move. Dust particles floating in the air sparkled in the blue flame of the lamp, then disappeared into the darkness. Like stars that twinkle in the sky and then go out.

Just then, a sound came from the corridor.

It was not the hard, regular sound of soldiers iron boots that cuts the peace of the palace. It was a slow, dragging sound. The sound of wooden sandals falling on stones, leaving a hollow echo with every step. With it was the tick tick of a wooden staff, rhythmic but with a strange restlessness, like an ancient clock whose hands were moving toward death.

The door slowly opened, not by the push of a hand, but as if the wind had pulled it inward. From the darkness, a figure emerged. Tall, thin, with a faint aura of light around it. White beard reaching down to its waist, every strand shining like moonlight. Ash tripund on the forehead, its lines deep, as if age had carved them in stone. And eyes. Eyes with the depth of rivers and the vastness of the sky, but today there was pain in them. A pain that had been accumulating for centuries.

Margdarshak Vishrayan.

Behind them, one by one, everyone came. Akshansh, whose shoulders were sunken, dark circles under his eyes. Vedika, whose hair was disheveled and clothes covered in dust. Anvay, whose fists were clenched so tight that his nails had dug into his palms. Aksh and Kalpit, with lines of war fatigue and a new worry on their faces. Dust of the long journey was on all their clothes, but their eyes were directly on Nirag. The same question written on all their eyelids. Will he survive.

Vision of the Void and the Guru Touch

Margdarshak Vishrayan said nothing to anyone. The sound of his wooden sandals stopped when he reached near Nirag bed. He placed his staff on the floor. A faint sound, like a tree root sinking into the ground.

His fingers were trembling. Not from weakness, but from the weight of age, the burden of countless ages of knowledge. But when they moved toward Nirag forehead, they became steady, like iron rods. He touched Nirag forehead.

As soon as he touched, a screaming hiss echoed in the air.

Black sparks burst from Nirag body. Like broken wires, floating in the air for a few moments and then going out. Margdarshak hand jerked backward, as if struck by an invisible fist. His palm turned black, as if covered with ash. A deep, dull blackness spreading under the skin.

Margdarshak, Agni immediately stepped forward. He held Margdarshak hand, but as soon as his fingers touched, he felt a burning. Cold burning, like a spark of ice. He did not let go, but held tighter. What is happening, he asked. We had calmed that dark energy. Why is it waking again. We had bound it.

Margdarshak Vishrayan slowly freed his hand. He looked at his palm. Blackened, as if someone had sprinkled ink on it. He took a corner of his white cloth and began to wipe his palm. Ash like black substance stuck to the cloth, but the color of the palm did not return. It was still black, as if the mark of some invisible fire had burned on it.

Margdarshak took a deep breath. A breath that had the coolness of mountains and the moisture of forests. You have cleared the smoke, Agni, his voice echoed, like the whisper of an old tree. But the fire is still smoldering inside. And this fire is not ordinary. It is the void.

The word hung in the chamber, as if stuck in frozen air.

Color drained from everyones faces. Vedika put her hand over her mouth. Akshansh lips turned white. Aksh and Kalpit looked at each other. The same fear in their eyes that was in the war of Veera Ghati.

Anvay went and sat near Nirag. He lifted Nirag hand. It was cold and heavy, like the wing of a dead bird. He held it between his palms, trying to warm it, but his own fingers began to tremble.

My sons Agni, Neer. Listen carefully, Margdarshak began to speak, a pain in his voice that was rarely heard. Andhak Void was no ordinary demon. He was a physical form of that void. An expression. When he died, he left a hole in the fabric of the universe.

Margdarshak raised his hand, weaving the air between his fingers. Nature does not like empty space. It wants to fill every emptiness. To fill that hole, the void was looking for a body that was soft, that had touched that darkness, whose soul had cracks.

His finger pointed toward Nirag. Nirag was still sobbing in unconsciousness. Small sobs, like a child trapped in a bad dream. Drops of sweat shining on his forehead, but they were cold, like particles of ice.

Nirag had touched that black sword, Margdarshak continued, every word falling like a heavy stone in the chamber. He had given that darkness space in his soul. He had invited it inside, even if unknowingly. Now that void is pulling him, swallowing his consciousness. If it is not stopped.

Margdarshak stopped and took a breath. Nirag existence will be completely erased. And that hole will become so big that the entire universe will be swallowed into it. Like a dried well, sucking every drop, every light, every life into its dark womb.

Demand of Sacrifice

The silence that fell in the chamber could be called the silence of death. But death at least is an end. This silence was worse. A fear in which there was no sound, no light, only the fear of infinite possibilities.

Vedika held Akshansh hand. So tight that her fingers turned white. Sweat began to shine on Akshansh forehead, a drop falling from his brow into his eye, but he did not wipe it. His breaths became short, as if a stone had been placed on his chest.

There must be some way, Margdarshak.

It was Neer. His voice was the same. Calm, flowing like water, but today there was a tremor in it, like a crack spreading under the flow of a cold river. He stepped forward and joined his hands in front of Margdarshak. You taught us that every problem has a solution in nature. Every night is followed by morning. Every darkness is followed by light.

Margdarshak Vishrayan took a long and sad breath. A breath that had the pain of mountains and the wailing of rivers. There is a solution, Neer. But its price is very high. A price that perhaps no warrior of this age has paid. A sacrifice that even the heart trembles to imagine.

Margdarshak slowly raised his staff. He drew a circle on the floor of the chamber. The tip of the staff scraped the stone, drawing a white line. Then he drew two lines in the middle of the circle, crossing each other.

The balance of the universe rests on two pillars, Margdarshak said, his voice now echoing like a reverberating echo. Energy. And stability. Motion. And stillness. Fire. And water.

His finger moved toward Agni, then toward Neer. You two. Agni and Neer. Are the two elements of this age. You are not just humans. You are Agneer. Your existence itself is balance. Without you, this world cannot survive.

Margdarshak pointed to the cross in the middle of the circle. If you two give up the attachment to your bodies, dissolve your souls into that void, it will be filled forever. Your combined power. The energy of fire and the stability of water. Will seal that hole. Nirag will be saved. This world will be saved.

Agni face turned red. Not from anger, not from shame, but from a pain that began to flow from his eyes as tears of fire. He tried to open his mouth, but words did not come. He clenched his fist. So tight that the bones of his hand cracked.

Sacrifice, finally a voice came out. Broken, harsh. Why always us, he asked. We fought the war, we lost our own. Dharaaya, Vayansh, Prakash, Sheetal. We cried on their pyres. We swore to give this child a father shadow. Raised him like our own blood, not like an orphan.

Agni voice got stuck. He looked at Neer, then at Nirag. Who still lay unconscious, his small chest slowly rising and falling. And now you are saying that we have to leave him orphan again. Give him the same pain we have suffered.

Aksh and Kalpit stepped forward. Aksh face was tense with stress, but there was a childlike helplessness in his eyes. Margdarshak, will our powers not work, he asked. We are also warriors. Our elements. Air, earth. All of us together.

Margdarshak shook his head. A slow, sad shake. No, Aksh. You are warriors, but you are not elements. Your powers are great, but they cannot stand against this void. Only the union of Agni and Neer. That paradoxical unity. Has the power to fill that ultimate void.

Silent Communication of Agni and Neer

Every person standing in the chamber had teary eyes. Akshansh sat down on the ground, hiding his head in his knees. His shoulders were shaking slightly. Vedika sat beside him, placing her hand on his head. A maternal touch trying to comfort, but her own hand was trembling.

Anvay held Nirag hand tighter. So tight that it seemed he wanted to protect him, pull him away from this chamber, from this truth, from this destiny. Tears were falling from his eyes. Silently, without any sob, like raindrops dripping from a window.

But Agni and Neer.

They were looking at each other.

In that one look, thousands of memories floated. The days in Margdarshak hermitage when they were children, Agni mischief and Neer calm. The first time they felt each other elements, that strange union of fire and water that gave not pain, but warmth. That war of Varunya where Neer saved Agni, making his body a shield. That night of Veera Ghati when they looked death in the eyes, and holding each other hands, promised that they would be together, fight together, and together.

Neer smiled softly.

It was the same smile Agni had seen for the first time. Calm, cool, like moonlight floating on water. There was no fear in that smile, no regret. Just acceptance. A deep, calm acceptance.

Agni, Neer voice was a whisper, but it was heard throughout the chamber. We have always completed each other, haven't we. When you burned, I cooled. When I flowed, you gave me direction.

He stepped forward. If our going. Keeps this child smile alive. Keeps the morning sun rising on this earth. People keep laughing, keep loving. Then will it not be our greatest victory. Will it not be our dharma.

A tear fell from Agni eyes. Hot, like molten gold. That tear drew a line on his cheek, wet his beard, and fell to the ground making a small spot. He stroked his mustache. The same old habit that came to him in stress. He broadened his chest, pulled his shoulders back.

You are right, Neer, Agni voice thundered, but there was a softness in it. Fire does not die until it completes its work. And our work is still left. We saved this earth, now we have to save the universe.

Agni stepped toward Margdarshak Vishrayan feet. He bent slowly and touched his feet. His forehead touched the cold stone. Give us permission, Margdarshak. We are ready. But. We have one condition.

Margdarshak raised his head. A question in his eyes.

As long as we are here, Agni said, his voice firm. No one will mourn. No one will shed tears. This is not a farewell, it should be a celebration. Our final celebration of life.

He turned and looked at everyone. Akshansh, Vedika, Anvay, Aksh, Kalpit. Fear and pain in all their eyes. We want our last moments with our family to be filled with happiness. We want Nirag to remember that his fathers did not leave him, but they have forever become part of the air around him, the water he drinks, the breath he takes. We want him to remember us and smile, not cry.

Moisture came in Vishrayan eyes too. For the first time, perhaps in centuries. He raised his hand and placed it on Agni head. Then on Neer head. A soft, golden light came from their palms and covered both.

May you all prosper, Margdarshak voice had a divine echo. The name Agneer will forever remain immortal under this blue sky. Your sacrifice will not just be an end. It will be a new beginning.

Nirag Waking Up

Just then, a faint whimper echoed in the chamber.

Nirag slowly opened his eyes.

First blurry, then clear. The blackness in his eyes had faded. Now they were normal. Red and blue, but there was tiredness in them, a tiredness that had penetrated to the bones. He slowly turned his head, looking at everyone around him. Agni, Neer, Akshansh, Vedika, Anvay, Aksh, Kalpit. And Margdarshak.

His eyes stopped on Agni face. His eyes were red, tears marks on his cheeks.

What happened, Nirag asked, staggering, his voice no more than a whisper. Tauji. You are crying.

Agni immediately raised his hand and wiped his face. He put on a smile. Fake, but so loving, so warm that it brought the feeling of truth in it. Who is crying, son. It is just. Dust got in my eyes. This palace cleaning, so careless.

He stepped forward and lifted Nirag in his lap. Nirag body was light, like a feather. Agni held him tight against his chest. So tight that Nirag breath stopped for a moment.

See, all your brothers and sisters and friends have come, Agni said, a strange joy in his voice. Now you are fine. Everything will be alright.

Nirag looked at everyone. Akshansh tried to smile, but his lips were trembling. Vedika waved her hand. Anvay rubbed his eyes and made a big smile. Aksh and Kalpit nodded.

Nirag smiled slowly. A tired, but genuine smile. Everyone. Everyone is here. Good.

He did not know.

He did not know how expensive this smile would be. He did not know that his two fathers. Who had picked him up from the riverbank, made him king, given him love. They were preparing to go beyond the universe to save him. He did not know that this was the last time Agni had held him so tight, or Neer had given him that calm smile.

Outside, something happened in the sky.

Clouds began to clear. A divine ray of light appeared. Neither like the sun, nor like the moon, but a light that contained all colors and yet was without color. That light was floating in the sky, as if destiny was opening its door to welcome its new guardians.

Inside the chamber, Neer looked toward the window. He saw that light, and then looked at Agni. There was no fear in their eyes, no regret. Just peace. A deep, complete peace.

Agni loosened his hold on Nirag a little. Come, son, he said, a new tone in his voice. This evening we will all sit together. Tell stories. Laugh. And tell you how great warriors your fathers were.

Nirag nodded, his eyes becoming heavy. Yes, Tauji. I. I want to listen.

And as Nirag began to drift back into sleep, Agni and Neer looked at each other once more. In that look was everything. Love, farewell, promise, and a bond beyond death.

They were ready.

For the universe. For Nirag. For each other.
