I knew I had royally screwed everything up, but the extent of the damage hit me like a freight train. Jasmin didn't just avoid me anymore. She erased me from her existence entirely. The moment she caught sight of me approaching, she would pivot and disappear down another corridor. If I entered a room, she would find an excuse to leave within minutes. During mandatory training sessions where escape wasn't possible, she treated me like empty air.
The breaking point came after witnessing her with Clyde. His fingers had traced her lips with intimate familiarity, that trademark smirk playing across his face as he leaned closer than any friend should. The bastard was clearly smitten with her, and what made my blood boil was how she allowed it. She didn't pull away or create distance. She welcomed his touch like it was the most natural thing in the world.
Comfortable. Easy. As if I had never mattered at all.
