The moment his lips grazed mine, my world tilted off its axis.
I stood frozen, every nerve ending ablaze as Max's fingers threaded through my rain-drenched hair with deliberate slowness. My legs trembled beneath me, threatening to buckle as the wet strands wrapped around his hand like they were meant to be there.
His touch carried no violence, no demand. Instead, it held a reverence that made my breath catch, as if he were handling something precious beyond measure.
Those stunning violet eyes studied me with an intensity that made me feel exposed in ways that had nothing to do with my rain-soaked clothes. He looked at me like I was some mythical creature stepping out of legend.
His breathing matched mine, shallow and unsteady.
His gaze traveled from my lips downward, taking in every detail the storm had revealed. This wasn't simple desire burning in his stare. It was hunger, raw and consuming, like he wanted to devour not just my body but my very soul.
