Lagrange 3, the other side of the sun. It's situated directly opposite Earth's orbit around the sun.
Anaheim originally used this position to build the first five colonies, which are now situated at Langrange 1, directly between Sun and Earth.
After the construction of the five colonies was completed, this location became Anaheim's R&D centre.
Over five years, it slowly became the first official colony outside Earth's Sphere of Influence.
Over time, it grew and had three permanent SWORD Type II colonies. With proper gravity, living in these colonies was no different from Earth, as they had abundant vegetation and space for academic purposes.
Living here has become something akin to a dream for those who pursue an academic life… and, given how driven society is, most people want to live here.
Among them was Marcus' Niece.
~~~
"So what are you working on, Sakuya?" Marcus asked his niece as he finally changed out of his pilot suit and walked through the corridors of the Mobile Suit dedicated research station.
"Miss Rakshata has personally picked me to help her work on the new Gundams you brought from a different reality.
I couldn't say no to that!"
Marcus looked a bit surprised to hear that. He needs to check Sakuya's profile to figure out how good she is.
Her presence got him by surprise; he didn't have much time to check on her. Well, he made sure nothing happened to her or her father. Since, well, he knew something could happen since Hokkaido has a lot of Sakuradite, but that's the thing, his Empire has a lot of resources thanks to space ventures, and he has his A.S.P., so pulling something like rebellion in his territories is practically impossible. So, he knew she was in good hands, and nothing could happen to her or her family.
"Is that so? So what did you figure out about those Gundams?" He asked. Marcus got curious; he wants to know what his niece figured out.
"Well, for one. They are made from a similar Nano metal we use. This is the material we used to build our Space Elevators.
The metal is extremely light. What is fascinating is that this material works in sync with the particle generated by the cone-shaped reactor.
Now, this reactor is fascinating as it generates these strange particles via baryonic decay. Though I saw the designs and compared them with the ones you gave us.
These machines are—" Before she could finish, a mature woman's voice interrupted her as they arrived at a hangar.
"...Second-rate at best," Rakshasa said as she was sitting on a comfortable couch. It was a bit strange, as she had a red couch and a coffee table in the middle of a closed-off hangar, behind her were the three Gundam Thrones, which were taken apart and scattered all over the place.
Marcus realised that his Mobile Suit developer had turned the whole hangar into her research department.
"What do you have for me, Rakshata?" The Emperor's attention went from Sakuya to her.
"Nothing much. The technology they use is completely separate from ours. There isn't much we can add without making drastic changes.
What we could use is their beam technology condensation methods; they are superior to ours.
From what I could understand, they turn that particle into a beam. We could use that method on our gravity particle to turn it into something." The woman stroked her chin as she pondered what she could do with it.
"A gravity-based weaponry." Marcus casually shrugged; it was obvious where it could go.
"We discovered this particle through sheer dumb luck after we noticed that the sun inside the reactor reacts to certain materials, creating a resonance."
"Indeed, uncle! The particle we see from the Gundams is nothing more than exhaust. An exhaust that we could weaponise." Sakuya inserted herself into the conversation.
"Precisely. I realised that we are close to space-folding technology when I first saw these particles." He added two bits himself.
"Indeed. Now back to this." Rakshata summoned two schematics with her hand motion.
"These two are the schematics of the machines from the Quantum Computer.
They are similar but at the same time different. The ones you got from Veda highlight some of the things that do not make sense. Like the TD Blanket. It's drawn here." She pointed at one of the parts.
"However, how to make this part we do not know." She frowned while saying that.
"We can build all of this…" She used a metal stick to highlight all of the parts. "Except this." The mobile suit creator said, frowning.
"However, we know that they used Jupiter as a creation place," Sakuya smirked a bit.
"We have a powerful AI that can guess what it is."
[Strong gravity well and potent radiation of a Gas Giant and a failed sun suggest they used a form of fusion.]
[Copying a form of a sun.]
"Then we can start there." Marcus sharply nodded. They can win with the development of these Solar Reactors.
He needs these to develop a higher form of humans to face the Reapers.
The Quantum Brainwaves should have stronger defences against potential brainwashing by the Reapers.
"We will use the barrier technology we utilised on Mars to protect ourselves from the Gas Giant's radiation, exposing parts of it should be decent enough to start developing Solar Reactors of our own," Marcus said to the pair.
"Good. I can't wait to play with one." Rakshata said with a smirk.
"Until then, I will develop better weapons for your Gundams, as it is now our beam technology is lacking."
The Emperor trembled. This is the first time in his life he has heard that his GUNDAMS are inferior!
"Don't worry, uncle! We shall have the edge in this soon enough!" Sakuya clenched her fist as she wanted their empire to dominate once more.
Marcus smiled at her for a bit.
"Don't overwork yourself, Sakuya." The Emperor patted her head for a second, making her blush a storm.
"Y-Yes…"
He nodded before walking out of Rakshata's hangar.
"I will be staying here for a bit. Maybe make something by myself." The Emperor waved his hand as he walked away to find a place to work.
Rakshata chuckled, seeing her Emperor pissed for mentioning that his tech was inferior is amusing to say the least.
"I should assist—"
"Let me let him do his thing, Sakuya, for now, you will be helping my little sister in researching how to improve the armours." Rakshata motioned towards a cute girl buried under piles of metal.
"Understood. Now come, Sakura, we will help Shanti!"
"...Understood, Princess." Sakura sighed, she isn't built to tinker with metals… her Princess became such a weirdo…
"Don't call me Princess! You know well enough that only His Majesty can grant me that title."
"As you wish."
"You do know that, Sakura, could be more useful in logistics. She inherited Sumeragi blood." Rakshata said with a small frown. The woman has been paying close attention to them. She wanted Sakuya as she was Marcus' niece… hell, she even looks like his female version. But that was not only that, Sakuya has his smarts… which is terrifying, and that is why she wanted this girl to work with her.
"What do you suggest?" Sakuya stopped and looked at her boss.
"Send her to Kaguya; she is the current Prime Minister. She could be useful to her."
"...Prime Minister." She looked nervous. "That's the highest position one could achieve outside the Imperial Family. Do you think she would just accept someone as young as Sakura into her circle?"
Rakshata snorted when she heard that.
"Have you even seen what is going on?" The woman smiled while asking the young Emperor's Niece.
"Hmm?" Sakuya looked confused for a second.
"Haven't seen her? Did you? Her whole group is full of beautiful females. Do you know why?" The mobile suit developer grinned.
"...Uncle?" The black-haired girl realised what she was hinting at.
"Indeed. Your… Uncle is the literal ruler of humanity. His authority is absolute; no one can question him.
He is the ultimate prize for anyone who has any remote desire for authority or power." The indian woman crossed her legs as she spread her hands on the top of the couch.
"It doesn't help that he has a harem. It's like open doors, an invitation for them to try to seduce him. That is why I believe your Sakura would be in good hands there."
"Are you suggesting Sakura should try seducing the Emperor himself!?" Sakuya gawked at her boss's suggestion!
"Maybe, if she wants to try that." Rakshata snorted. Sakuya's reactions amused her; the girl went through several different ones.
"What I am saying is that once she is under Kaguya's 'roof', she will be protected and no one would do anything to her, it's as simple as that."
The Mobile Suit developer explained to them.
"But… I am supposed to be your body double, Sakuya." Sakura frowned while saying that.
"It doesn't matter anymore. My claim to Britannian Throne doesn't exist anymore. Only Uncle's blood has any sort of power.
People would compare me more to the Sumeragi family than the Britannian Royal Family." The girl shook her head. The old rules don't matter anymore.
"You should do whatever you want," Sakuya said with a small smile.
"Do what… I want." Sakura, for a second, pondered. The first thing she thought about was Marcus…
Sakura was raised to dedicate her life as Sakuya's shadow and take the hit for the Princess in case it needs to be. But now… Sakuya is telling her to do what she wants.
'In that case… There is one thing I would want to do.'
Well, she still wants to do her duty as Sumeragi, and there is one thing she would like to do to make her family proud, and that is to become an Empress.
There is only one Half-Japanese Empress, and she is not that good in her books. There should be a proper Japanese Empress who could serve humanity in splendid elegance.
"Then I shall follow your suggestion, Miss Rakshata. I shall join cousin Kaguya's camp." Sakura nodded while explaining what she would do.
"Sounds good enough."
Rakshata flicked her finger as she sent a hologram to Sakura.
The black-haired girl looked at what she got. It was the Prime Minister's contact info.
"...Umm… what should I do?" Sakura asked, confused.
"Just send her your name, and that I sent you to her, that should be enough." The woman explained with a careless shrug.
"Okay… I can do that."
A bit later, she finished the message and sent it to the current Prime Minister.
'With the acquisition of Celestial Being Gundam Thrones, I can begin the removal of the Corner family from the power they hold. I need to devise decent technology which could garner the attention of the world and at the same time not overwhelm the economy.'
Marcus's eyes scanned the data he got from Veda and the type of batteries the world had devised in that reality.
It was decent tech, but not something he was overly shocked to see. Those two hundred years of development he can quite casually cross and even improve.
"We are returning to designing and tuning, Legion. Are you ready?"
[For you, Your Majesty, always]
'That reminds me…'
His eyes went to the designs of Veda that he had extracted.
'...Oh…'
At that moment, he recalled something. Veda's design reminds him a bit of a Dyson Sphere.
'...Megastructures…'
There was another game that Marcus used to play alongside Mass Effect. It was a game that inspired him to make his Fusion Reactor.
A game where one can build Dyson Spheres, Hyper Relays, Gateways, and Ring Worlds.
'That's right, you fuckers! This is giving me ideas!'
Marcus recalled Stellaris! A game where one can legitimately conquer the Galaxy and build mega projects.
The way he will conquer the Galaxy is by following that game's example. Built fortifications above the suns, FTL inhibitors, and cannons the size of dwarf planets.
By the time those machine freaks realise what is going on, he will stomp them to the space dust they are!
