Underground Laboratory
The golden sparks of the portal faded, and Xiao Han stepped into a dim space.
This place was completely different from the outside world. The walls were covered in black, vein-like structures that resembled biological tissue, and the ground was subtly undulating, as if stepping on the internal organs of some living creature.
The air was filled with a nauseating mix of putrid smells and metal.
Xiao Han's Super Sensory Perception detected a high concentration of viral particles.
Without hesitation, he immediately activated his Bio-Field filtration.
Xiao Han's eyes faintly glowed with golden light as the Bio-Field silently enveloped his entire body.
He walked forward slowly, his Super Vision piercing through the obstacles, locking onto a figure at the deepest part of the laboratory.
"Reed Richards."
His voice echoed in the empty lab.
In front of him, a slender figure slowly turned around.
Mister Fantastic, or rather, the former Reed Richards.
He had completely changed. His body was twisted and elongated, like a stretched-out corpse. His skin had an unnatural gray-green hue, and his eye sockets were sunken, yet they flashed with a strange, rational light.
"Ah... a new guest."
Reed's voice was hoarse and slow, yet surprisingly clear. "Who are you? There's no information about you in this world?"
Xiao Han stopped and confronted him: "It seems you still retain some sanity."
Reed grinned, revealing rotting gums: "Sanity? No! I'm just more clearly aware of my hunger than they are."
His neck suddenly elongated, his head unnaturally close to Xiao Han, and he took a deep breath. "Your flesh… smells special."
Xiao Han didn't back down, just said coldly: "You created this disaster."
"Disaster?"
Reed suddenly laughed, the sound like metal scraping against metal. "This is evolution! Humans, no, all life will eventually be unified!"
His body suddenly split, and dozens of tentacle-like limbs emerged from his back, each covered in thorns and suckers, sweeping towards Xiao Han!
Xiao Han's eyes flashed gold, and Heat Vision swept across!
"Hiss!"
The tentacles were cleanly severed, and foul-smelling liquid sprayed out, but the severed limbs writhed on the ground, rapidly regenerating.
Reed's body twisted and deformed like mud, and the entire laboratory's black veins suddenly came alive, the walls, ceiling, and floor all becoming his weapons!
"You can't kill me..."
Reed's voice came from all directions, "I have perfectly merged with the virus! I am the plague itself!"
Xiao Han floated up, his Bio-Field fully activated, shattering all the black tentacles that attacked.
He looked around. His Super Brain was rapidly analyzing. Reed's body had completely mutated, merging with the entire laboratory.
Ordinary physical attacks were ineffective, and Heat Vision could only temporarily delay his regeneration.
He began analyzing, scanning for weaknesses.
Super Vision revealed the energy core's fluctuations, located directly beneath the lab!
Xiao Han instantly understood: Reed wasn't invincible; his consciousness still relied on a core!
"Found you."
He dove down abruptly, slamming a fist into the ground!
BOOM!
Concrete and metal structures shattered like paper. Xiao Han punched through several floors, plummeting to the deepest underground level.
This was a massive spherical space. At its center, a pulsating black tumor floated, its surface covered in vein-like energy conduits, constantly pumping the virus throughout the city.
"So that's how it is..."
Xiao Han narrowed his eyes. "You've turned yourself into a Virus Nest."
A fissure suddenly split open in the fleshy mass, and Reed's face emerged, twisted and frenzied. "You cannot stop evolution... Join us, become eternal!"
Xiao Han wasted no more words. Golden light flared intensely from his eyes, and Solar Flare-level energy gathered in his palms.
"Let's end this."
He clasped his hands together, and a pillar of searing white light, infused with magic, erupted, instantly engulfing the entire tumor!
"NO!!!"
Reed's screams twisted and vanished within the torrent of energy. The black flesh melted away rapidly, like snow under a blazing sun.
The entire lab began to shake violently, and those wriggling black veins withered and fell off.
However, Xiao Han's Super Hearing still picked up the echoing roars coming from all over the city.
The zombie heroes hadn't stopped their activity.
Sir, the secondary infected have not lost their activity,
Jarvis immediately analyzed.
According to the analysis, the virus has completely integrated into the host cells, becoming the basic structure of their life.
Xiao Han frowned and flew to the front of the experimental table.
Reed's research notes were scattered on the table, the papers covered with dense and meticulous data.
He quickly flipped through them, his Super Brain digesting all the contents in a fraction of a second.
"Damn it."
The final conclusion of the notes was clear and desperate.
This virus wasn't a foreign infection, but rather activated some dormant, primitive code within the DNA of the lifeform.
Once awakened, it was irreversible.
Forcibly removing the virus was equivalent to killing the host.
Reed wrote in a frantic hand on the last page.
"We aren't infected, we have finally become what we were meant to be!"
Xiao Han silently closed the notebook.
He couldn't save this world.
"Sir."
Jarvis said softly, "Detecting numerous high-energy signatures approaching. They are the nearest superheroes."
Xiao Han looked up, his Super Vision piercing through the walls, and saw multiple zombie heroes swarming towards the Baxter Building from all directions.
They had sensed the destruction of the Virus Nest, and now, they were enraged.
"Let's go, let's end their evil."
Xiao Han stood on the top of the burning Baxter Building, the completely incinerated Virus Nest of Reed Richards at his feet.
The entire city was still wailing, the roars of the zombie heroes echoing everywhere.
"Jarvis, confirm if there are any survivors in New York."
[Scanning complete, sir.]
Jarvis's voice came from the multi-function watch. [No human life signs detected.]
Xiao Han was silent for a moment, then looked up.
They were coming.
"Roar!"
From the distant ruins, countless twisted figures surged from all directions. The heroes who once protected the world were now consumed by bloodthirsty madness.
Beneath Daredevil's rotting red suit, his bones were twisted and deformed, his hands transformed into claws, and a bestial growl rumbled in his throat.
He once fought relying on Super Sensory Perception, but now only had bloodthirsty madness.
Luke Cage's invulnerable skin was covered in livid spots, his muscles bulged almost to the point of bursting, and each step shattered the ground. His eyes were cloudy, and corrosive saliva dripped from his mouth.
Spider-Woman's once agile body was now twisted with reversed joints, and spider silk sprayed from her decaying glands, the fluid mixed with the virus.
Her screech sounded like glass scraping.
Blade's half-vampire constitution made his mutation even more terrifying, his fangs growing to his chin, his eyes scarlet like blood.
His silver longsword was already corroded, replaced by bone-like fingernails.
Ghost Rider's hellfire was still burning, but it had long been twisted by the virus into a morbid, ghostly green.
Chains wrapped around his decaying body, and the motorcycle engine made a dying roar.
