Princess Marina
Few minutes after the end of school
"Well if it isn't our famous first year?" Sloan asked with a smile and Princess Marina sighed.
"I didn't expect the rumors to reach the second year class." Princess Marina said as she sat down on a stool in the practical class used for Creation.
"Everything that has to do with royalty has always been top news." Sloan said with a wink as he brought out a golden dragon fly from his box.
"I am sorry but today's session will focus on maintenance." Sloan said as he took apart a golden dragon fly that was one metre long.
"As pretty as they look, they require quite a bit of maintenance to enable them to keep running." Sloan said he took out the gems he used for the dragon flies' eyes.
Handing him the next tool for the maintenance of his golden dragon flies, Princess Marina was content to watch the process but Sloan continued the conversation from earlier "Everything that has to do with royalty has always been top news but your case is exceptionally special."
"And why is that?" Princess Marina asked as she watched Sloan remove a dull white fragment of a white ore and insert a new one.
"Because of the fire you lit during the hunt." Sloan said simply before looking at her and laughing at her expression.
As his laughter winded down, Sloan said "I am sure you know how those blessed by the spirit of fire are being treated in Alvonia." and Princess Marina nodded.
"Less than trash we are constantly being looked down upon." Sloan said as he oiled some parts in the dragonfly machinery.
"But what you did at the hunt gave us hope that we can be something more." Sloan said with a beam as he momentarily looked up from his creation.
"You are giving me too big of a compliment." Princess Marina said awkwardly as she became uncomfortable.
"It might seem that way to you, but to us who had been gravely oppressed that was hope." Sloan said as he continued his maintenance on the golden dragonfly.
"You might not notice but those blessed by the spirit of fire, especially the first years treat you in a special kind of way." Sloan said with a smile.
"I don't think so." Princess Marina said as she recalled Ariar Zen, Dravion Snow and Auralith Kane who she would have to meet.
"It's okay not to notice." Sloan said with a chuckle as he looked back at his work.
"Just know that a lot of people are rooting for you." Sloan said with a final smile before focusing all his attention in completing the maintenance of the remaining dragonflies.
"A symbol huh?" Princess Marina thought as she remembered her mother's words from the night after the entrance test.
"Not again." Princess Marina thought as her heart throbbed.
Flashback
Estania Age 6
"The story of the white wolf is something that has been passed down for centuries." said a pack member as he looked at Estania in awe.
"From the dawn of time the white wolf has been a symbol of the moon Goddess protection over a pack and those who have it are known to have special qualities." a woman said as they all peered at the small white wolf.
"In all of history there have only been five recorded white wolves." Estania's dad, Richard said as he picked up his little girl.
"And legends say that the event of a white wolf means the ushering in of a new era." Estania's Mom, Lisa said as she scratched behind her daughter's ears.
"She is going to be a beautiful Luna one day." pack members said as they bowed to the newly transformed white wolf.
Estania Age 21
Staring into nothingness, Estania caught a glimpse of long tracks of blood on the ground and warily followed it. Scared of who she might see at the ends of those tracks, Princess Marina closed her eye to gather herself. Opening her eyes in a sad attempt to be brave, Estania saw her mom's severed head next to her severed body and her father daggered to the ground by four spears.
"This wasn't what I was promised!" Estania yelled as tears streamed down her face.
"Aren't I your symbol?" Estania yelled at the sky.
"Aren't I supposed to usher in a new age?" Estania yelled as she began to heave.
"Why would you do this to me?" Estania said as she looked up at the sky in disbelief.
"Why would you do this to me?!" Estania boomed and the ground cracked.
Flashback end
Sitting in her bed with only the lights of the glowing stones around her, Princess Marina stared at her invention with the two wolves until she fell asleep.
