Chapter 80 - Chapter 80

"Rising?" Princess Marina thought as alarm bells began to blare in her head.

"Well that can't be good." Princess Marina thought as she waited to be sure that they had both climbed the stairs.

After minutes of waiting, Princess Marina crept out of her hiding spot and tried to head back to her room because she didn't know how many more people would come back from the meeting, but the curiousity in her gluer her to the floor.

"How did they leave the hostel?" Princess Marina thought in confusion as she retraced the steps of her seniors.

"Anyone who passes the barrier passed curfew triggers an alarm that alerts everyone in the hostel and not even Lysandria can override it." Princess Marina thought.

"So how did they leave?" Princess Marina thought as she came up to the locker area.

Turning left and turning right for any clue or hint that could tell her how they left the hostel, Princess Marina crept around the locker area silently but when nothing came up, Princess Marina was about to head back to her room, when she heard a rattling and then a flash of light.

Hiding immediately, Princess Marina peaked from a corner as a girl came out of a locker.

The next morning

Leaving the dining hall immediately after food was served, Princess Marina skipped breakfast and boarded a train.

Heading to the library, Princess Marina grabbed any book that she could find on sigils, ancient runes or spells that have been modified with ancient language. Sitting in the corner for those blessed by the spirit of fire, Princess Marina placed the books around her in a half circle. Quickly drawing down the circle and three symbols she saw on the locker that the senior came out of, Princess Marina began to flip through books.

Princess Marina had only managed to flip through three books before there was a blare from an alarm that signalled that it was five minutes to first period. Groaning, Princess Marina put the symbol she had drawn in her blazer pocket and shelved the books in a place she could easily go back for them.

Lunch came around swiftly with Princess Marina's head in the clouds and after the demonstration, Princess Marina was about to head to the train station when she heard a voice behind her.

"Is everything alright?" Aldric asked and Princess Marina turned around to see Aldric, Aleron and Lorraine behind her.

"Of course it is." Princess Marina said as she slapped a fake smile on her face.

"Why wouldn't it be?" Princess Marina asked and Aldric and Lorraine joined forces to stare her down.

"It's just," Princess Marina said before sighing.

"We can't talk about it here." Princess Marina said with a huff because she didn't want to involve more people.

"Come with me to the library." Princess Marina said and Aleron, Aldric and Lorraine nodded and boarded the train with Princess Marina.

Coming down from the train, all four of them marched to the library and claimed seats that were arranged around a round table in a neutral area.

Bringing her voice down, Princess Marina said "Yesterday in the girls hostel for those blessed by the spirit of fire I heard something strange." and her three friends came closer.

"I heard something called the "rising" is happening in three months and the truly strange thing was that at the time I was eavesdropping on them they had just came from a meeting at midnight." Princess Marina whispered and her three friends looked at her in shock.

"Midnight?" Lorraine asked with her eyebrows furrowed and Princess Marina nodded.

"I don't know how the hostel works for those blessed by the spirit of fire but those blessed by the spirit of earth have a barrier that blocks anyone from leaving past curfew." Lorraine said and Aleron and Aldric nodded.

"It's the same for our dorms too." Aldric said, speaking up for him and his brother.

"That was what made me investigate." said Princess Marina

"Those blessed by the spirit of fire also have a barrier that once triggered, it won't stop till everyone is awake so I wondered how they left the hostel and once I retraced their steps, I saw this-" Princess Marina whispered as she dropped a paper with a circle with three symbols she knew nothing about

"On a locker that acted like a doorway between the girls hostel of those blessed by the spirit of fire and wherever the meeting was being held." Princess Marina whispered and all eyes moved to the piece of paper with the circle and three symbols.

"I have gathered books," Princess Marina said as she went to fetch the books she had shelved together.

"But I have only managed to go through this three-" Princess Marina said as she pointed out three thick books.

"And there is still plenty more of them." Princess Marina said as she pointed to twenty more.

"How did you expect to go through all this by yourself?" Aldric asked in astonishment.

"I was thinking if I could manage if I sacrifice my breakfast and lunch." Princess Marina said with an innocent smile and both Aldric and Lorraine looked at her unimpressed.

"I don't know about the rest but this symbol looks familiar." Aleron said as he pointed to a symbol that resembled a wilting plant with a diamond above it.

"Does anyone remember the attunement ritual?" Aleron said and everyone came closer to listen

"Those blessed by the spirit of water were given leaves to test their attunement, what if and I mean what if this symbol," Aldric said as he pointed at the wilting plant with a diamond above it.

"Is directly connected to those blessed by the spirit of water?" asked Aleron.

"Then that will mean that the other two symbols are directly related to the other blessings." said Princess Marina.

"But why are there three symbols instead of four?" Lorraine asked and an alarm blared signalling the end of lunch break.
