As I'm walking down bourbon street, I'm trying to somewhat have a positive outlook on things and feel the vibes but it impossible knowing I can fucking die at any moment in time. I find a bench and sit down, staring out at what's going on in the streets but in reality I'm completely dissociated from the what's going on around me. A few minutes go by and a random girl sits next to me, I don't even pay her any mind she's just a normal drunk girl having the time of her life. As I'm sitting there she taps me in the shoulder and I just slowly turn towards her.
"Yeah?"
She starts loudly talking like I ain't right next to her
"HEY!"
"Hi…"
"WHY YOU JUST SITTING HERE?"
"Because I can"
She gives that drunk hiccup and then keeps yelling
"THATS NO FUN! YOU SHOULD BE HAVING FUN!!"
"Yeah im ok"
"COME ON!!! HERE COME WITH ME AND WE CAN HAVE SOME FUN!!"
She reaches for my hand but I pull it back
"Please don't touch me"
"COME ON I DONT BITE… WELL MAYBE I DO"
"Not interested"
As she keeps rambling on I hear a voice
"Jaaaaayyyyy…"
I look at the girl
"You know my name?"
"HUHHHH I WAS ASKING IF YOU WANTED TO…"
Then I hear it again
"Jaaaaayyyyy…"
"what the fuck?!?"
The drunk girl jumps back
"OH MY GOD NEVER MIND FUCK YOU!!"
She stumbles off
"I'm tripping I have to be, where the fuck did that voice come from"
I start rubbing my face with my hands and then I hear the voice again
"The Cauldron…"
"The cauldron??"
I'm fucking losing it, I can't believe this is happening
"Go…"
"Go where??"
"The Cauldron…"
"I can't believe this shit"
I get up and start heading to the cauldron, I don't know why I'm even listening to this creepy ass voice in my head but here I go. I finally reach the cauldron and head inside, it's slow nothing new and Lou is behind the bar doing his thing as always when I see this weird imp looking creature stumble to the bar, I get closer and hear him sluring his words
"Hey! Can't you hear you fucking orc?"
Lou turns to him
"Calm down"
"Get me another drink"
"You've had enough already, time to call it a night"
"You don't tell me what to do, I got money, pour me another fucking drink!!"
"I already told you I'm not serving you, now get the hell out"
The imp continues to go on his drunken rant when the voice comes back
"Protect Lou…"
I don't know why but I head to the bar and intervene with the imp
"Hey man, you good?"
"Who the fuck are you?"
"Just a friend, now Lou's a good guy and he's just trying to look out for you"
"Oh yeah what are you his boyfriend?"
"No just a friend, also I'm straight"
"Heh could've fooled me with those eyebrows, how about you go get them waxed some more and let us real men talk. Hey fat fuck I said another drink!"
I stay quiet until I hear the voice
"Slam his head into the bar…"
Without hesitation, almost instinctual, I grab the back of his head and smash his face into the wooden bar top over and over again until Lou begs me to stop
"Jay stop, stop, stop"
I grab the imp by his shirt and drag him to the door, gripping both hands onto him and looking at his bloody face that has pure fear across it
"You ever come back to this bar I'll fucking kill you"
I then kick the door open and toss him out on to the street as he struggles to run away. I head back to the bar and Lou looks at me in shock
"Jay are you ok?"
I snap back to my normal self
"Uhhh yeah yeah, I just couldn't take the disrespect he was showing us"
"Yeah but that was…. Something I wouldn't expect out of you"
I take a moment to gather myself and then respond
"Yeah I guess he just pushed it a little too far and I just lost my cool"
"Right, well here's a drink. Just cool off and relax"
"Thanks Lou"
I chug down the drink that Lou handed me and soon after I've drank three more. I'm sitting there and I start feeling weird, my head is killing me, I feel jittery like I just drank a whole bunch of energy drinks, my eyes feel like they're about to burst out of my head, and my heart is pounding. I put my head down and just try to relax but I can't, it just feels like it's getting worse, then Lou comes and taps me on the shoulder
"You ok son?"
"Yeah I think I'm just coming down with something, imma just get some air. Is it cool if I go out the side door, I don't want to be around all those people in the street"
"Go ahead"
"Thanks"
I head to the back where there's a door that leads to the alley. I walk outside and take some deep breaths trying to get my bearings, breathing in the cool breeze that's starting to hit as the sun goes down. While I'm trying to calm down I hear a commotion a little down the alley, I see a a young guy and girl and the girl has her back against the alley wall while the guy is front of her with one hand against the wall. I look on and I can tell this girl is uncomfortable, that's when I hear the voice
"Protect the innocent…"
"Yeah she does look like she needs help"
I walk over and as I get closer the guy look like the typical white boy dickhead. I over hear a bit of what the guy is saying
"… come on don't be like that"
I cough to get his attention
"Ummm excuse me, is everything ok?"
He looks at me with a smug look
"Yeah everything is fine, just talking to my girlfriend"
The girl looks at me with a scared look
"Are you sure because…"
Before I can finish my sentence he interrupts me
"Everything is fine! Now mind your fucking business before I fuck you up!"
When he says this I see his eyes light up and turn into an ember like color
"Ok I'll walk away"
"Vampire…."
The voice says as I'm about to walk away then it comes back again
"Kill him…"
I take off my back pack, open it up and take out the tomahawk. I walk back over, keeping the tomahawk hidden out of sight and the guy notices me again and starts walking up to me
"I thought I told you to mind your fu…"
Before he can finish his sentence I swing the tomahawk and slice his head off with one quick swing. He falls to the floor and disintegrates into ash soon after. The girl covers her mouth suppressing a scream, I look at her and speak in a soft tone
"Everything is going to be ok, just relax and breath"
She has tears coming down her cheeks and gives a quick nod
"Go into the bar right here and ask the bartender to call your friends to come get you or to get you a cab back to your place, his names Lou he'll take care of you"
She nods and heads inside, i look at the tomahawk and then get ready to put it back into my backpack. The voice then comes back
"Kill all vampires…"
"Why?"
"They were one of the reasons for the slaughtering of the tribes…. Kill them, avenge them"
I look at the tomahawk and feel that energy I felt from the first time I held it in my hands, then I just feel a rage starting to build inside me out of nowhere
"Avenge them…."
I grip onto the handle, shoving it into the backpack to keep it out of the public eye, then start walking towards the busy street with a new purpose.
