Adam awoke to the soft grey light of dawn filtering through the high, narrow windows of the receiving chamber. He was still on the plush sofa, his body stiff from the unorthodox sleeping position. More notably, Lilith was nestled against his side, her head resting on his shoulder, one arm draped possessively across his chest. She was deeply asleep, her usual sharp expression softened into something surprisingly peaceful.
'Thank goodness I was so exhausted last night I didn't even think about the whole… sleeping between them situation,' Adam thought, a wave of awkwardness warring with a strange sense of comfort. 'And Lilith… she looks oddly content. She must have been holding onto me all night.'
