The group descended the winding staircase into the second floor. The walls were lined with faded murals depicting battles and rituals, their colors long since bleached by time.
The second floor was a maze of narrow corridors and cramped chambers, the walls slick with moisture and veined with faintly glowing crystals that pulsed in erratic rhythms.
Then the shadows moved.
From the cracks in the walls, from the gaps between the stones, creatures began to emerge. They had no fixed shape—their bodies were formed of shifting, iridescent slime that rippled and flowed like liquid glass. Multiple eyes blinked across their surfaces, each one a different color, each one tracking the group with unnerving synchronization.
