Chapter 11 - Chapter 211: Qingxiao Pavilion, Lin Xiao

Zhao Wuji also felt bitter in his heart.

How would he dare to provoke such figures?

He had merely been doing what he always did, suppressing those people of Heavenly Sword Peak. Who could've thought that a single Yun Jin would bring about such a disastrous calamity!

If he had known earlier, he would rather have lost all dignity and killed Yun Jin the very first chance he had.

But now, it was already impossible for him to make a move.

Zhao Wuji, his face full of bitterness, explained the situation roughly.

Zhao Ling immediately fell silent after listening.

He had been in seclusion for so long that he had forgotten today was the Grand Sect Tournament.

Such a trivial matter was originally not worth even a glance.

The person he had arranged to act back then had already struck ruthlessly. Even if Lin Ya did not die, in a place like Tianxing Sect, there would absolutely be no possibility left for him.

At most, it was only a matter of dying sooner or later.

But this Lin Ya, whom he had already regarded as a dead man, had actually accepted a new disciple named Yun Jin.

And then this new disciple had carried him into a complete reversal of fortune?

Even Zhao Ling felt a chill in his heart!

Someone who had only cultivated for three months could actually cause the three great giants to fight over her!

Just how much of a heaven-defying genius was this Yun Jin!

"Father, you must save me." Zhao Wuji begged miserably. "If Yun Jin were to demand my death, I fear those three seniors would not hesitate for even a moment. I even thought of fleeing earlier, but the moment the thought arose, I felt an indescribable terror. Those three seniors may not have acted immediately, but I am afraid their spiritual power has already locked onto me. If I dare flee, it will be a road to certain death!"

Hearing this, Zhao Ling grew anxious as well.

He only had this one son. No matter what, he could not let anything happen to him.

Zhao Ling pondered for a moment, then asked, "You said your Senior Brother Li was slain with a single sword strike by the Sect Master of Kunlun Sword Sect?"

Zhao Wuji recalled that scene, still terrified, "Not only that, even my Martial Uncle's Nascent Soul was dissolved by him with poison."

Zhao Ling narrowed his eyes, "So, the reason he killed Li Heng was because he believed Li Heng had slandered Lin Ya?"

Zhao Wuji nodded, "That should be the case."

Zhao Ling asked again, "Was there conclusive evidence?"

Zhao Wuji replied, "Martial Uncle Li was controlled by that Liuli Zhenren and confessed himself."

"Heh heh, how can words spoken under control be taken as truth?" Zhao Ling's eyes narrowed. "I understand now. I will report this matter to the Sect Master at once. Wuji, stay within your cave-dwelling and do not show yourself. Qingxiao Pavilion is very close to Tianxing Sect. If all goes well, I will arrive tomorrow!"

Zhao Wuji's spirit lifted, finally feeling somewhat relieved. He quickly agreed, then set up layers of barriers at the entrance of his cave.

He knew very well that if Ji Wusi and the others truly wanted to act against him, these barriers would be useless. But what else could he do?

So Zhao Wuji hid himself away, trembling in fear.

Qingxiao Pavilion.

After ending the communication, Zhao Ling immediately went to request an audience with the Sect Master of Qingxiao Pavilion.

Now that he had broken through to Mahayana, he used this as his reason, and indeed obtained a meeting with Qingxiao Pavilion's Sect Master, Lin Xiao.

Lin Xiao looked at Zhao Ling, his expression indifferent.

The Mahayana cultivators in the world weren't few, but those who could ascend to immortality in the end numbered only a handful.

In the last hundred years, not a single one had succeeded.

Someone like Zhao Ling, who had relied on arduous bitter cultivation to barely break through, almost certainly had no hope of advancing any further in his lifetime, and was not worth much attention.

Lin Xiao said coldly, "Advancing to Mahayana is indeed a good thing. From now on, you are the thirty-ninth Elder of Qingxiao Pavilion. Go collect your identity token. If you have no further matters, you may leave."

He clearly did not value Zhao Ling much. Zhao Ling, however, was unsurprised. He quickly said, "Sect Master, breaking through to Mahayana is but a small matter. I have another urgent matter to report, this concerns Ji Wusi of Kunlun Sword Sect!"

Ji Wusi?

Lin Xiao's face immediately became ugly.

All within the Four Holy Lands knew well that Qingxiao Pavilion and Kunlun Sword Sect were at odds.

Much of this enmity came down to his and Ji Wusi's mutual disdain.

Ji Wusi was reckless, all muscle and no brain!

With the Demon Clan rampant, he had organized the Demon-Destroying Alliance, uniting the human race against them.

Originally, this was a good thing. That was why the Four Holy Lands and countless other sects had responded and joined.

But Ji Wusi's approach to demons and the demonic cultivators could be summed up in one word: Kill! And he insisted that evil must be eradicated completely!

Lin Xiao, however, believed this was too simplistic and lacked wisdom.

For example, the current Demon Lord of the Demon Realm had, in private, extended friendly signals toward the human race several times. He had promised that in the future he could lead the Demon Clan to submit to the human race on the condition that the humans help him eliminate his rivals.

Wasn't that an excellent thing?

After all, they would still be killing demons, and with the Demon Lord's help, they might even take control of the Demon Clan without bloodshed.

But Ji Wusi?

He had flatly rejected the Demon Lord's offer, even persuading many others to join him in laying a net of heaven and earth to kill the Demon Lord.

Lin Xiao was furious.

Why be in such a rush to kill a Demon Lord who was inclined toward humanity? Wouldn't it be better to let him remain and let the Demon Clan fight among themselves?

Ji Wusi, however, insisted that the Demon Lord must not be allowed to grow stronger, declaring that he would one day become humanity's greatest enemy.

And some brainless people actually believed him. As a result, Lin Xiao himself was forced to participate in the siege against the Demon Lord.

But.

In the final battle, Lin Xiao had secretly held back a little, allowing the Demon Lord to escape grievously wounded.

Ji Wusi must have sensed something, and afterward his attitude toward Lin Xiao had been terrible, even showing him no respect at several high-level meetings.

Lin Xiao believed his actions were for the sake of humanity. Wasn't he simply trying to prevent Ji Wusi's stupidity from dragging them into a disastrous war?

After Ji Wusi's face darkened several times, Lin Xiao couldn't bear the indignity either. Originally, the two of them merely disliked each other in private, but after several such incidents, their private dislike had become open hostility.

Now, just hearing Ji Wusi's name made Lin Xiao's face twist. He said coldly, "You had better truly have something important."

Zhao Ling hurriedly recounted in vivid detail how Ji Wusi had appeared at Tianxing Sect and slain Li Heng with a single sword.

Lin Xiao's expression shifted repeatedly as he listened.

After a long while.

He suddenly laughed, "Good. It's good he died."

Zhao Ling instantly understood Lin Xiao's meaning, and he also laughed along.

"You have done well in this matter," Lin Xiao said calmly. "Tianxing Sect, was it? I will accompany you there. Rest assured, with me present, I will see that Li Heng's death is avenged. And your poor child, threatened and intimidated, gravely frightened—this debt too must be settled!"

Zhao Ling finally relaxed. He nodded repeatedly and respectfully replied, "Yes."

The Sect Master's hatred for Ji Wusi was indeed deep. With the Sect Master making a move, Wuji's life would surely be safe.
